Thumbs up I gave your post was for the picture not the drought. We need some more moisture for sure.

Well done! Congratulations on a great hunt and wonderful dad/daughter time. P.S. Please post the story of her oryx hunt. An oryx hunt on my bucket list.

December Coues Deer Rifle
Jimmer Negamanee replied to aeverett152's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Buying a point is always a better strategy than skipping the draw but perhaps consider applying for the hunt you want and buying "point guard" which is like cheap trip insurance. With point guard if you are out of the country or physically out of commission, you can turn your tag in and not lose any points. Don't give up on a Dec. WT hunt if that's what you want. The weather is cool and there is a lot less human activity from other hunters. And f you're lucky there's some pre-rut activity. -
Very cool. That last picture is stunning. The nice part of hunting with your camera is the season is always open and it's state-wide! Makes me want to pick up a camera. Thanks for posting.

Wow! Well done in 2021! Happy New Year to everyone and let's go 2022!

+ 1 on the green Superfeet insoles. I immediately swap out the factory insoles with green Superfeet insoles on my light-duty hikers and I'm good to go in the deep, steep, rocky stuff. I recently picked up a pair of Oboz "Bridger" hikers and didn't need to add the Superfeet insoles because the factory insoles were so good. They've been great so far but the mile count is not high yet. Good luck.

Wow. Would have never guessed that they'd do that. Glad the pupper is ok.

Good luck on your hunt. The processor I used to used to use is not around any more either. I've used Von Hanson's in the Mesa/Chandler area and they are one of the last retail butcher shops that still process game. They do good work. Here's a link: https://vonhansons.com/chandler-arizona/ I also found this one in Payson (with a PHX location) but I've not personally used them before. Maybe someone on here can vouch for them. Looks like a good outfit but it's hard to tell from the website. Here's a link: https://www.taggedoutgameprocessing.com/ I'm happy that you're willing to pay more for a quality product. Maybe if more people had your philosophy, there'd be more processors around. People rave about Casey's processing but they're in Flag. Maybe worth the drive though. Here's a link: https://caseysprocessing.com/index.html Again, good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Need Help.. Missed biggest deer of my life
Jimmer Negamanee replied to Adicted's topic in The Campfire
Very nice bucks in the pics. You may not consider yourself an expert but your knowledge is more than I'll ever have. I learned a lot just reading the trouble shooting suggestions on here. If you ultimately hit on what the issue (and the fix) was, please let us know because I'm sure I'll learn from that too. It's easy and fun to post about hits on targets at great distances but this post was no doubt neither easy or fun to make but I appreciate your openness and humility in making it. Thank you. -

On wet years, I get those in the border unit I hunt. I call that area the "Velcro Grasslands" because it seems everything sticks to you. The worst is if they get in your socks and/or all over your boot laces. They are a real PITA and the only method I've found is just to sit down and manually pull them out. I've used my fingers, needle-nose pliers, and tweezers to help get the job done. Maybe you could think of seed and seed-pod pulling as a meditative hobby like knitting. The bright side is that it generally means that it was a good rainfall year. If you come up with an easy method, let us know.

Good for the Phoenix Silhouette Club! It's a nice service that saves time and money, is in a controlled atmosphere, and could spark an interest in the shooting sports that leads to a great life-long hobby. Plus, a chance to meet people who share common interests.

Congratulations! Great buck and, as others have said, great write up! With the pictures, it felt like we were there. BTW, how did you like the Swaro NL 12X24 binos?

Prana has a 25% off sale until Sept. 6. (Of course the sale started after I bought mine but I used it as an excuse to pick up another pair.) https://www.prana.com/p/stretch-zion-pant/M4ST99116.html?dwvar_M4ST99116_color=Dark Khaki&pos=1

I believe you Edge. As far as I'm concerned, if you say you took it, then you took it. Full stop. But I'm not the AZGFD, nor do I know anyone there so have fun retaking the course. It'll be worth it long term.

I bought a pair of the Prana Zions based on the recommendations on this thread. They are light and super comfy. I've not had them in the field yet but if they hold up half as well as folks on hear say they will, I'll be stoked.

This explanation makes sense. Bucks make scrapes during the rut to check in on who's been hanging around or passing through. No reason all deer would not exhibit similar behavior year around.

Non-story if you ask me. I don't shoot Russian ammo. Vladimir Putin is not our friend. But I don't shoot Russian ammo because I hate Putin. I don't shoot Russian ammo because I love my firearms. I support American ammunition manufacturers.

Clearly a hybrid. You can tell by the location of the metatarsal glands. 😄

YouTube is your friend. I've broken lots of stuff after watching YouTube videos.

^ ^ ^ I'm sorry about your experience PRDATR. I've used Wright Armory a number of times for engraving and light, general gunsmithing and the experience has been positive. But I've never had anything cerakoted.

With all the supply chain issues during the pandemic, it'll be super expensive to buy new or used for a while longer. If the only problem is motor mounts you might want to consider getting it fixed. There's always that time in a vehicle's life where fixing it is just throwing good money after bad but if everything else checks out okay you might consider it. You could end up money ahead compared to a car payment. But to answer your question, my mom had a Sequoia and it still ran well with 300K + miles on it. (And I'm hoping for a 4Runner to replace my '02 Xterra in the next year or so.)
