I’m no YETI fan because for I prefer to buy American made products. I will also gladly pay a premium for products that are made in the USA. YETI charges a premium price but not all their coolers are made here so I’ve never bought one. (Some of their coolers are made here but you have to really drill down into the details to find them.) Maybe my decision not to buy YETI coolers puts me at the vanguard of this movement. But I don’t see YETI’s decision to stop giving away free coolers to be auctioned or raffled off by the NRA Foundation as “taking sides.” It’s just deciding to be neutral. If not, by logical extension, every company that doesn’t give free stuff to or donate to the NRA Foundation should be boycotted. (Also, the open letter from the NRA lobbyist seemed kind of whiney. But I’m sure they’ll put this to good use in their next appeal for donations.) Every day we “vote with our dollars” so if you want to boycott YETI because of their perceived political leanings, go for it, but you must have been seriously considering buying one for your decision not to buy one to be meaningful. Otherwise you’re like me, simply not buying something that you were never going to buy in the first place. Also, boycotting takes a lot of time to research the views or actions of the corporation and vigilance to keep up to date on those views and actions. I also don’t think boycotts effect corporate behavior as much as we think. But boycotts can make us feel better so there’s that. I’ll end by giving a plug to Canyon Coolers. The Outfitter 22 cooler I just bought was assembled in Thailand but they use some American parts. It’s rotomolded with a good seal (which are the two most important qualities of a good cooler). They are also an Arizona company and, here’s the deciding factor, a Coueswhitetail.com sponsor!

I've done a lot of the above and it has helped a lot. I got it from jogging. I went minimalist until the PF showed up and put me on injured reserve. When I got back to it I went maximalist (lots of cushioning). HOKA are my jogging shoes now. Also, don't walk barefoot on hard floors. I bought these well cushioned slippers and keep them by the bed. I slip them on immediately upon waking up. (And even for bathroom trips in the middle of the night.) Kinda spendy but well worth it. https://www.oofos.com/collections/mens-ooahh-slide-sandal Also, my hiking boots are on the cheaper end and as soon as I buy a pair I throw out the stock liner and replace them with Green Superfeet. Also spendy but worth it. https://www.superfeet.com/en-us/insoles-and-sandals/green I can't say I'm rid of it but I seem to have it under control. (If I walk on tile barefoot for a while it seems like it flares up.) Good luck!

Coues deer video, " my wife 1st 100 inch buck"
Jimmer Negamanee replied to azhunter85's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I had to consult my teenage nephew to help me find the name of the opening song and the artist. He used an algorithm and played the song and his magic computer machine spit out the answer. Then he looked in the description and found a "bit.ly" link to it and asked why I didn't check the description. I had to confess that I didn't know a description would have that kind of info. I felt older than usual tonight. And I put a $10 bounty on the information so now have to pay up. The band is Rivers and the song is Bad Men. Interesting music. It really adds to these videos. https://theriversband.bandcamp.com/track/bad-men -
Great picture! Thanks for posting. Seems like they're dropping a little late this year. I wonder if that means anything for antler growth or the start of the rut this year. It'll be interesting.

Thanks for the update. I hope the little bugger makes it.

Coues deer video, " my wife 1st 100 inch buck"
Jimmer Negamanee replied to azhunter85's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Awesome video! (And I've been watching a lot of your other videos. They're all great.) What is the opening song for your videos or who is the artist that performs it? I've not been able to find the song or the artist. Thank you. -
Congratulations on your wife's elk tag! I have a Burris Fullfield II 3X9X40 (with Ballistic Plex Reticle) and a Leupold Rifleman 3X9X40 (with Duplex Reticle). I'll sell either one to you for $75. If you live close by (my definition), we could meet and you could inspect them. I'm confident you'll be impressed with the condition of both of them. The Burris is "like new" and the leupold is "almost like new" (if that's a thing). Neither have ring marks.

It's awesome that your boy is graduating! That's a big deal for him and your family. Your gift idea is not just thoughtful, but it will give you something fun to work on as you wait for the big day. I'm not an "AR guy" by any means but the beauty of the AR platform is that it's so modular and flexible. It's like the Honda Civic of rifles, i.e. lot's of aftermarket parts and extremely customizable. If the application in coyote hunting, don't shy away from a longer (say, 20 inch) heavy barrel. (There's also a "bull barrel" but that's even heavier than a "heavy barrel" and, from my limited experience, is impractical for hunting.) Shorter, lighter barrels may be great for clearing a building or 2 or 3 gun matches, but longer, heavier barrels have no problem reaching out an delivering to that dog that hangs up at 300+ yds. Oh, and you didn't mention optics. That's a whole 'nother discussion. Keep us up to date on on your quest. It's an interesting one. Again, congrats to your boy and your family.

Mulepacker, what stove do you use to cook/heat those? (I'm looking into getting one and wanted to know if you have a recommendation.) Thanks!

It's as dry as I've seen it in many years. 5A is my reference point, going back 3 decades or so. I was up there last weekend and have never seen it so dry. There were still a few snow patches in the high, shady spots but several tanks that always held spring water were dry. One seep that usually runs all year was already dry.

Cool! I'm looking for a new pack. Maybe you could review the Outdoorsmans set up.

I wonder if his antlers are going to be messed up as he ages too or if this was just a first year glitch. Looks like his pedicles are kinda cockeyed. That makes me think it might be that way as he ages. Interesting. Thanks for posting.

Great link. Impressive that you found an article directly on point. (I also saved the site as a favorite because it has a lot of cool stuff like an article about how drinking beer can make you more creative. I'm showing that one to my better half.) Thanks for posting.

Congratulations and welcome to CWT.com! I welcome your enthusiasm and like your avatar (I've never seen anything like it. Very Celtic looking.)

I plan on using this guy for some knife sheaths but I haven't yet. His stuff looks pretty cool. http://www.thorshammercustomleather.com/

For all we know that picture was made by a Russian troll farm to sow dissension amongst us. But if it's real, who cares? Throughout history, Christianity has survived a lot more that a printed out Word document saying no "Christian Music" (whatever that is). And the sign didn't say people can't be Christian or listen to Christian music on their headphones. It simply seems to prohibit religious music from being piped through the PA system. (If the sign was not fake, or made only to inflame emotions, maybe it would have just said "No Religious Music." ) Should residents be forced to hear a caterwauling call to prayer 5 times a day over the loudspeaker? I hope not. But I end where I started. I call "fake sign." How will future generations judge us? Maybe this way: “The religion of one age is the literary entertainment of the next.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Shed spot around Pine March 10 too early?
Jimmer Negamanee replied to Norteno's topic in Shed Hunting
Maybe you could take them for a hike on the Highline Trail? Years back, I actually found a shed literally lying directly on the trail itself. I'm not saying you guys will too but I'm saying it's possible. And don't think you can't find a shed because it's a well traveled trail. People step over or walk right by sheds every year and never notice them. (Not to seem immodest, but I'm pretty good at that.) I've also found chalkies that were spitting distance from very well traveled trails so although 3/10 is a bit early for 2018 sheds it's possible to find them or you could find sheds from earlier years. It's also a well-marked trail and the kiddos will have to work hard to get lost. There are also lots of places to stop, investigate and teach on the way. Work on survival skills. (Rule # 1: Don't panic!) Start a fire with no matches. That will thrill them. And teach them the importance of putting the fire dead out. Pack a lunch and have them eat it on a log. Have them use their safety whistles. Certainly tell them about sheds but I wouldn't make that the focus. Tell them to expect to find 3 cool things every day and especially on your little walkabout. I bet they do. Heck, they may have their pockets full of cool stuff after the first 100 yards. You'll have a blast! Let us know what you decide and how it goes. -
Bump for a cool rig. What's the story on it? How long have you had it? Why are you selling it? It looks very clean.

In the spirit of fishing season.. Osprey
Jimmer Negamanee replied to CouesPursuit's topic in The Campfire
Amazing birds and great footage. I spent a high school summer ('86) as a volunteer recording the species of fish the brought back to the nest after fishing on Flathead Lake, MT. One of the best summers of my life. So beautiful up there (in the summer at least). -
I'll take it. PM sent for details.

Look into what Old Buck said. The statute that you and Old Buck referenced seems to show it's a misdemeanor. Your lawyer should be able to clear it up for you. There's a big difference between a felony and a misdemeanor. A LEO could not write you a "ticket" for a felony. If it truly was a "ticket" (usually called an Arizona Traffic Ticket and Complaint or ATTC for short), it's hard to imagine that it's for a felony. The other issue is that although mistakes happen and you didn't shoot it, you (or the new hunter) kept the second bird and processed it so you violated the the possession and bag limit and you unlawfully transported transported it to a freezer. In other words, you (or the new hunter) "benefited" from the mistake. I hold you in high esteem for not shooting the second turkey on purpose and not wanting the animal to go to waste and for self-reporting. In that regard, your actions were perfectly ethical as far as my values go. Those actions, however, were contrary to AZ state law. But you're paying the price for it and moving on from it. When you cook that turkey, have the new hunter over and make him bring you an expensive bottle of your beverage of choice. That's the best way I can think of to make a positive out of a negative situation.
