Today quail hunting we found a few birds and picked up a fox. It was a super nice day out and the birds were cooperating. If our shooting was a little better there would be more!

Quail Hunting today

Chasing a covey into some steep stuff and the fox walked out in front of me. My brother was higher on the hill and a few rocks thrown later the fox came out of the brush in front of him. High base 7 1/2's worked just fine at 30 yds. -

Opening morning found us on a high point waiting for the sun the come up. As it did we found a few does, and some elk but nothing with horns. So we moved to another spot, then another as it heated up we kept glassing. There was a little break in there for the covey that was calling next to the truck. Nate smoked a couple on the covey rise. Then watched a large pack of javelina for a while. Around lunch time we went to the truck and made some sandwiches and cold drinks. After a little relaxing we went back to glassing. Right before the sun was gone I spotted horns. We were about a mile a way and had to make a run at it. Nate and I took off. We got to where we thought the buck would be and started looking. I found the buck and Nate sat down behind the backpack for a rest. I was asking if he had seen the buck when the rifle went off. There was a unmistakeable thump and the buck disapeared. Nate dropped him in his tracks. It was a great 200 yd shot. The we got down there and took some memory shots. It was a great time.-Jeff

I use the adaptor the Cabelas makes for spotting scopes. It really seems to be steady, the timer helps alot as well. If you can focus your spotter the best you can, then press 1/2 way on the camera you should have nice pictures. This is what works for me at least. Heres a few pics from my setup. -
I would give Matt Woodward a call. What unit did your pops get drawn for?
