  10. Met down south in Tucson with my good friend Carl from team young Gunz to head down to 34a for my opening day whitetail hunt! started off that morning early on our glassin hill was a rough morning only glassed up a couple of does and spikey. We proceeded to walk what felt like 100 miles up and down rock filled over grown weed filled ankle braking mountains. With nothing moving we made our way back to camp to refuel and come up with an afternoon plan. We headed to another hill for the afternoon and within 30 minutes Carl had spotted a shooter buck!!we had to run down the mountain we just spent 35 minutes hiking up...of course.we got down the hill and jumped n the ranger and drove a couple miles around the back side of the hill and after 10 minutes Carl had him again we watched him for two minutes again and he went right back over the other side again...!! Well we decided there was only 15 minutes left of daylight we would drive back and find him and bed him. When we got back to the other side we found him in the same spot he was just roaming that 50 foot of real estate on top of the mountain. We were sitting there watching this monster when I asked Carl to range him and he said he was 800 yards away!! Well I said if you can get me to 600 yards I can take him Carl looked at me and said let's try well we found the only semi flat open area to shoot from at 595 yards with about 2 minutes of light left I got prone and found him in my sights dialed up my 308 to 595 yards and when he came out behind a little mesquite I touched off what felt like forever I got back on scope just in time to see him jump Carl yells out he's dead he ran 20 feet and pulled up!!!! We looked at each other in disbelief after chasing this thing around a mountain for a couple hours and then taking him was unbelievable. Carl took some land marks in and we headed up the mountain what was 600 yards as a crow flies was more like a mile by game trails. Well some how Carl took us right to that deer in the dark and when we got there we were in shock he was much bigger than we thought!! After a few pics and a lot of celebrating we gutted that monster and we threw the biggest bodied whitetail deer in Carl's eberlestock pack some how and he carried this deer all the way down the mountain when we got to the bottom and back to camp Carl got really sick he was tossing his cookies I think he under estimated the dize of the deer.all in all it was an amazing hunt with a great friend and hunter. P.s. we went straight to wellers can't wait my first trophy coues.

    youth javelina

my daughter just turned 11 last week and this was her first hunt.we were lucky to have the help of one of my best friends carl young of team young gunz and scott beck. we headed out friday morning at 4:00 am to 34A from peoria, got to the hill after picking up the boys and started out hiking up and glassin. well we saw quite a few deer but no pigs we stayed to 1 and taylar was hungry so we went for some lunch at the long horn and headed back for the evening hunt. well we saw more deer and no pigs, taylar was bummed but ready for tomorrow. Saturday morning carl had recruited scott and his brother jeff and their roommate derrick to help look for pigs. well taylar was tired from all the hiking so we sent the boys up the hills and we stayed on the lower hills. within 30 minutes we got the call pigs were spotted carl came down the hill mto take us towards the pigs. it just so happened that the pigs were in the denses cactus hills ever so some slow hiking and some crying and cactus pulling we were at our spot. we set taylar up on the ar-15 with her tripod and loc jaw system and waited for the pigs to step out of the brush. they held up for 30 minutes but seemed like for ever finally one stepped out in the open at 150 yards gthen a few more right behind it carl told her to wait til they went broad sideand then shoot. well the pigs started moving fairly quick and turned behind some mesquites with a small 3 foot shooting lane between some branches as soon as the pig got in the opening she shot and the pig went down instantly it was a great shot 130 yards from a 30 cliff above the pigs. well there was a lot of high fives and hugs maybe a tear or two none of wich came from the girl. it was one of the most exciting moments of my life to see it happen. I cant tell you how proud and excited i was. well we went down to check out the pig and it was a huge boar what a trophy for a first hunt. i just want thank team young gunz and scottand jeff beck and derrick for helping make a little girlz first hunt so memorable.also anyone with younger hunters cant say enough about the loc jaw system it works great
