If one of them slipped and hurt their little bottoms mommy would've sued. -

Nice rifle. Clint has one of those too. -
They seem not to make them like that anymore.

What rifle are you taking on your elk hunt?
Stray Horse replied to Stray Horse's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I used to have a Sako 7mm-08 Sako A series with McMillan stock I got for $400 10 years ago. I sold it like a dummy for much more. It was the most accurate rifle. -
I'm getting excited just to me in the mountains.

I like 1/2" wooden dowels about 36" long. I can adjust the highth as desired with a leather or rope knot. It's also cheaper.

Back under the pillow. Thanks everyone

That should do it! -
Thanks Casey Lark I'm trying to get a friend to look at it but, now it may be until Thurs. It's has a steel trigger guard and floorplate. The barrel is not pencil thin, but it is 24". The bolt matches the reciever.

Well what did you get drawn for?

Late bull elk 4B -
It's a 1951. The bolt is jeweled, that's why it doesn't look like a controlled feed. The stock isn't original, but done well. The bolt has been polished too. Also it has a replaced Winchester barrel which I'm almost positive. It does say Winchester and .270. I'll have to show it to a friend of mine tomorrow. The reason why I'm selling it is because it's a toss-up between this and a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle .30-06. It's one of the first ones with a floor plate. It's very light to carry in the mountains compared to the 70.

You could make money on that one!

I've had it happen to me and never saw them again. It makes me so mad when I here this. I'll keep an eye out. -
Well said Lark. I shoot a Winchester 70 from 1951. I like 150 Power Points for everything. 2.5 in. high at 100 yds. and close to dead on at 250 yds. If I so choose to shoot out to 300 which I have never needed on an animal I'm just a few inches low. Even though I have other rifles, that old .270 seems to be used, especially for elk.

Congrats on a fine looking bunch. I hope to hunt soon with my son.
