.223 reloads gone bad Help
gauchoand replied to gauchoand's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Sorry on the lot code I don't have the box anymore. I also have another thousand I'm now afraid to use. But these were purchased about 6 months later than the ones that gave me the problem. What powder are you using extruded or ball. They suggest in that thread it's more probable in ball powders like Win 748 or H335. Mulepackhunter interesting suggestion I should check the seating depth on the remaing ones and see what I find. I wonder if these were sat further and I'm getting a poor strike on the primer. -

.223 reloads gone bad Help
gauchoand replied to gauchoand's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Found a other thread with this exact scenario on the web. Here's what was figured out as an FYI. Issues is with the wolf primers apparently. They believe that they are having difficulty igniting the powder. The yellow is what happens when the graphite is lost off the powder. Reason bullet was in the throat is that the primer had enough umph to dislodge it while not igniting the powder. The firing of the primer without lighting the powder is why the graphite is gone and the powder is yellow. Interesting here's a link with a pic even which shows exactly what I was talking about: http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-498700.html -
I have a Mathews outback all set up ready to go might even have a couple extra arrows. Let me know if interested. But you should have gone into a shop first and talked about DL and pulled back a few to see what draw weight you're comfortable with.

Let's hear your "Zombie-dove" stories

In all seriousness though I'm glad I have never left a dove in the vest cause I have actually washed mine many times. Now that could get ugly really fast..... -
Let's hear your "Zombie-dove" stories
gauchoand replied to Scooter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have a hard time watching the walking dead. I just doesn't seem very real to me. Hollywoods overdone it again taking a good story and making it unbelievable. It's like the same thing they do with good books. -
So I've made the switch to stainless steel media in a wet tumbler. Here are the results: 3.5 hours in tumbler this one shows a 3.5 hour tumble to 1 hour tumble both are clean but the 1 hour also didnt have lemi shine. The four duller brass are the 1hour tumble without lemi shine I wish I had saved some of older brass to compare it too. Heres the recipe: 1 lb Stainles media 70-80 pieces of 223 cover with cold water 1/2 a 9mm case of lemi shine a small squirt of dawn Run for 2.5 hours min although I think 3.5 hours is the right amount. Any other ways to do it let me know. Im open to anything to do this more efficient.

Nope this is done with the harbor freight rock tumbler. Total cost for this switch/trial was about $50. The best part is that I think I don't need to neck size this. Quick cleaning in the ultrasonic when I bring the brass home from shooting. The lee pacesetter deprimes and sizes all at once. Then thru the tumbler. Im thinking this is not going to add any extra work to my case prep and I'll get better looking brass.

I say husky I don't buy anything else in payson. Show me the news story cause seems to me that would make some news.

So I'm thinking of switching from an ultrasonic cleaner to rotary wet tumbling my brass. (fast vs really clean) my concern is I always deprimed and resize my brass before cleaning will I need to resize necks after rotary tumbling due to all the banging around in the tumbler or should there be no difference.

Reloading cleaning brass
gauchoand replied to gauchoand's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use the pacesetter dies a lot that deprimed and resize at once. I am going with the SS media. Thanks for the advice I'm gonna give it the old college try and see then if it turns out. -
Wow you must have a sweet deal with your scrapper. Last time we sold our scrap it was about $110 per ton. But to someone who has use for it it could go for a lot more.

Threat to Firearms Sales on These Classifieds
gauchoand replied to 40-year-AZ-hunter's topic in Classified Ads
In all honesty I truly feel for what happened in Boston today. Whoever committed that act today will burn in ----- and I wouldnt urinate on him to put out the fire. BUT, I realized that it seems they should ban homemade bombs to prevent this from happening again! Maybe limit the amount of explosives put in it so it's not so dangerous. Sorry if what I say is offensive to anyone but I will be praying for those people tonight with my children. I just feel the government couldnt care less for the people who grant them their authority. Maybe this thread should be in political discussions...... -

gauchoand replied to coueser4's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I think everyone on here might agree but if you have extra time that's helpful. Cause for me I seem to go through a lot of it when I'm reloading..... -

how much is 223 brass worth???
gauchoand replied to Big Browns's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Recently bought 500 type 1 brass (meaning all ready to load) for $65 dollars and I'm always looking for more. With all the work to prep once fired brass you might not get a whole lot for. Like if it has crimped primers that's a pain in the butt if it's been deprimed that's a plus.
