You can know the best distance to shoot at using math ( trig) , but what has worked best for me is to get up on the roof and fling some arrows. The math part doesn't always seem right and you dont always have time to look at a chart when archery hunting as compared to rifle hunting, I would just practice shooting those angles before the hunt from anything elevated.... Good Luck on your hunts!

Congrats!!!! throw a score in there when you get a chance, he is a great buck!!!!

I would have to say the Swarovski range finder.....The optics are great, and this range finder will pretty much go forever, but its too big, over priced and the circle for judging the yards is too big for longer distances accuricy. Their binos, spotting scope and rifle scopes are great, but when it come to range finders they didnt stand up to there name. I will use Leica for the rangefinder!

That is cool!!!! Great Pic!

I would put my camera there....but I would put it up high where it might not be noticed. Leave a note and maybe you both can work together. you didnt hunt it last year and it is public land. Hopefully he is a good guy and nothing bad comes of this. Or just just check his SD card and delete the 120 thats hitting the salt!!!!! goodluck either way! hope it works out for you!

Spyderco makes a great knife for engraving, I think its called an Enduro, the handles are all stainless and look real sharp. Plus they are a great knife!

So does that mean you wouldn't shoot him if you had a once in a lifetime tag? It depends on what else I have seen there. He is a beautiful ram! I am just wondering what everyone else thinks he would score. He would be a tough ram to pass up, but you also have to think you have a month to hunt. Im out, I already have my desert but my dad puts in for that unit every year.

Nice Ram for sure! Im guessing about 164-167. he has the mass but he doesnt drop that low. those tight curled rams are decieving... any guesses? maybe one of the hunters will get him and we will find out for sure.

Cool Pic!!!! Is that one of those new small Tascos? I had not heard many good things about them, but it seemed to work well there. Your thoughts? It seems you cant beat it for the price.

When I scout and find Bulls that I like I spread out around where i found them in the Summer and look for good rutting areas. Look for Rubs from the year before and if you find them from multiple years there will be Bulls in there come September. If it is close to where you were watching your summer heard there is a good chance that they will be there. The hunts are a couple weeks earlior now then most years so that makes a difference, they wont be talking a lot, but are easior to call in. They are still going to be fighting for territory, so a lot of times the bulls are going to come in quiet. i hope it helps! Good luck!

Swarovski Spotting Scope 80mm Vs. 65mm
THOR replied to SuperiorBowHunter's topic in Optics and tripods
Im sorry to throw a curve ball in this post but i used to be the manager of the gift bar at Sportsmans wearhouse in Tucson and we compared all of the scopes together: I have all Swarovski for my persanal use...but i think the Zeiss is probably the best in the scope...it has another focus ring on it and in low light it did a lot better. You cant go wrong with Swaro but I would take a look at the Zeiss before you purchase. if money and weight is not an issue I would take a look at the Optolyth 100mm Scope...that is the ish. its big but but blows all others away, its a German made glass. Google it Also: if you are NOT going to take pictures through the scope the HD is not necessary. It was made for digiscoping. with our eyes you wont be able to tell the difference but through a digital camara and as you zoom in you will notice a difference on the comeputer when you try to edit. -
that is a great Ram....it sounds like a tough hunt, but that is what makes sheep hunting so much fun! You did a great job, way to stay on it. you da Man. good luck on your future hunts!
