My buddy and I used a moo cow decoy on a rifle hunt a couple years ago. We went about a mile across the flats through a herd of cattle to within 90 yards and got him on opening day. We could have gotten closer if we needed to for a bow shot. we are both over 6' and 200 plus at the time and it conceled both of us in the wide open. It worked great for there being8 sets of eyes looking at us...not including the cattle. Good Luck!!!

The pic below came from that hunt as well as another 155 buck I dont have a pic of. You wont see a lot of deer but there are some good ones. find the water...you can go days and see the same group of 5 or 6 does then a toad will show up. If you dont have access to some of the fields through out the units plan on doing a lot of glassing im willing to help if you want to PM me with a number or I will send you mine....Its a tough hunt but when that monster comes over the ridge after 4 days of glassing the same flats it makes it all worth it...I have missed some 180 plus on that hunt.

With how it reads I am curios if one were to leave there truck at a trail head for a 5 day backpack trip is the truck considered abandened? It seems that there are too many tree huggers in the Forest Service....Not all of them, but a lot! I also like the quote about all the trash that is found up north as well as south (thats another subject). We the hunters for the most part take great care of the land. I was taught to leave it cleaner than when you got there. most of us who use these cams will go back and get them, there is just too much land to scout!!!! Good luck this fall everyone!

To All: A friend of a friend has three ranches in Mexico. Not sure yet how many acres. i was wondering if any of you can help me out with the process on how to get a biologist down there to look over the land so we can start getting tags. A phone number or any help will be greatly apreciated. we are trying to get the ball rolling for next year. The family that owns the land doesn't hunt it, they just run cattle. Thank you! Mark

Everyones eyes are different...if I were you I would line them all up next to eachother and decide. The Outdoorsmen I know will do that for you. Good luck in finding the right glass if you want to talk PM me and I can go over some things with you over the phone. I have worked with optics for a while, not only glassing , but also selling. Mark

Docter are great glass, the customer service is not great, its taken a long time for some of my buddies to geat there glass back for repare in the past, they all switched to the swaros....you never can go wrong with the SLCc if you are willing to spend the coin. there customer service is great as well. For the price the Kaibabs are good but there is a big difference between them and the swaros...JMO Mark

An idea my buddy and i came up with is buy a case to a camare ...just the case through some of the companies you can do that. set up a dummy camara where it can be seen with just the case and use Amandas idea to catch the jacka$$ but also point it toward your target as well. We had 5 cameras, 2 blinds and 2 tree stands stolen last year in 4b....its bs!!!! and one more taken this year in 36c and another in 37a. I cant wait to catch one of these guys....that will be fun!

Have you had work done to your gun?I bought a 300 win the last year they were made before they got shiped over the water. I had to have someone take my gun all apart. he rebeaded everything.....my groups would go from 1 inch to 2, then 3 and move up to the upper right.the barrel was glued to the stalk when we took it apart. so i guess it depends on when it was made. I got it worked on had it bedded, put a vais break, trigger job, a swarovski scope and shot a buck last october at 745 yards....its a great gun but you might need to put some work into it. i shoot ballistic silver tips at 180 grains out of the box and after the work was done i shot 8 shots with in an inch group at 200 yards. good luck

yes they are....i really like using them on cool mornings. They are great glass for the price...make sure you have good tripod because they are heavy and they will move a lot in the wind with out having something sturdy. it will get annoying. PM me if you want to talk.

they are decent....they pick up a lot of heat waves. the cabela 20x80s are the same and half the price. PM me if you want more thoughts

For most hunts i use maxima hunters with fusion vanes...i shoot 78 pounds and 29 inches out of an X-force Dream Season and they shoot great. I really was thinking into looking at the FMJs only because they weigh a bit more. I went all the way through an elk at 40 yards with the maximas and it still had a enough penitraion to stick in the tree on the other side. the weight forward idea is great....good luck on your hunt ~Mark

If I were you I would get an AZ Fletcher and use Fusion fletches....im able to hit a 12 in group out to 110 yards. I recommend helical.

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/spo/2415727526.html I saw this one on Craigslist today. If I wasn't so short of cash, I would have given a serious look. Also, I've found a lot of gently-used good deals on ArcheryTalk.com Hope this helps. how far are you looking for it to be able range?

I have a 80# X-Force Dream Season at 29in and i can have one pin out to 40 yards. i shoot Maxima hunters.....its a great bow...there is about a 5 inch difference from 20 to 40. great line of bows.

I have a vais as well on my 300 win mag....I think it is the best break i have ever shot. I feel as if it kicks like 243 now. There was also a difference in the kick with the gun kicks straight back and doesn't jump up when the trigger is pulled as before. The holes in the break are in the front as well so it does not kick up dust when you shoot. make sure you wear ear protection!!!!PM me if you want to talk, I know a great gunsmith. take care Mark
