Ok I went on a state record mission for archery piggy that I hunted for few years and just could never arrow him... Time flus and 8 maybe 9 yrs went by while I told this guy to shoot that 1 and another guy to take this 1 etc.. Next thing I know I'm missing out on summer sausage and actually did then try few years and felt little jinxed. Today I am in RECOVERY! Although it's not my state record archery pig I was chasing for few years it is a nice boar that got smacked by my 243 wsssm! Now you can drive a volkswagon thru his shoulder but sure was fun. I also took a 1st timer and he got 11st crack of course. he shot a MONSTER and I did not ask permission to post his pic but cropped it so you can see his noggin

Btw love this gun! Something makes me open this and look at it each day. :]

Yeah and you offered it to me on back page in trade then ignored my reply. Your something else Leroy. You come on here and offer everybody less than what they are asking then you go elsewhere and offer items and then back out or never intend on a trade in 1st place. What's your deal? Bored??

Ok so I bought some goodies while there and was given few treats. Bought trash brat they call it but I could live without it, good just not my thing. Bought some green chillI and cheese brats and wife and I just ate them with corn on cob and sweet taters with brown sugar-butter-marshmallows and it was the BOMB. Love the green chills brats they have. The smoked hot sausage sticks with jalapeno cheese the lady had me try were phenominal!!! I bragged so much she gave me the whole $12 pkg for free. half gone by time I got North phx. -

I agree on the Black Pepper and Jalapeno! I wish I would have known about this earlier. I've resorted to the hack saw LOL yes I learned years ago to ask for Chubbs or to have them cut it cuz when I bust out of 3-pound summer sausage half of it ends up going bad see your hacksaw comment made me laugh -

I guarantee I'm going to be investing some money and all the equipment to make sausage this year. First of all I really enjoy making it so I don't know why don't own everything already -

Well van Hanson's one I'm in the middle of rush-hour traffic taking it there now LOL great time of the day to do it huh. I did not like Four Peaks game processing and I believe after their divorce they each started their own processing place and I'd rather stay away from that and I believe one of the ones mentioned above is one of their companies -

I like the throat arterial shots πππ clean meat for sure but the blood spray is haunting. π© In camp Verde I use Carl's as my butcher and they make good sausage also. -

Casey congrats to the wife. As far as morn/eve so many many factors here. When it's a drought year pigs usually end up in washes because that is where the water is underground and green trees and cacti are there. A year like this hunt, anything goes! Water everywhere, green everywhere pigs don't have to travel as much or as far as a drought year. Heck some areas have no prickly pear so pigs eat only barrel cactus and they root a bunch in those areas which means high on mountain, low in washes, and in between. I personally prefer mountain pigs as it's easier to pattern them and find beds, caves etc. Flat ground pigs travel too dang much! Flat grounders are either like quail hunting where you flush them or spot from Mile away and Than try and sneak up on Than. Find a good heard and just learn their routines and find their homes and you and your family will harvest from same herd year after year, unless you show a friend of course. π¬

Pistol pigs are fun stuff! I did learn one year even with a 9mm hollow point right in one's forehead at maybe 5 yards when he was running straight at me since I was in his trail... Well I learned that even with a giant hole in head they can still knock you flat on your back with forward momentum. :] he got another in the head literally with barrel just behind his ear cuz thought he was eating me, didn't realize he was just crashing. I LOVE JAVELINA!!! Congrats

At least you had some entertainment! Best non hunt entertainment I had while hunting was a mountain biker getting all crazy and biffing it so hard I felt it from 1000 yards away. I actually went to dial 911 while I was up on hill but shortly his moaning and wind sucking stopped and he started cussing so I knew he was gonna survive.

"I felt grateful our country still produces such warriors. TBI's, gunshots, amputations, lung disease, smashed vertebraes... crushing injuries but not a single broken will to succeed." Thank you for helping with that will to succeed cuz I tell you that is the true battle most of us face. Daily pain, daily memories, daily meds, daily why am I THE one alive?.. These things are REAL and the support I have seen lately is AWESOME

Not sure this still stands but was or is Year Taken: 1993Location: UNIT 30B Hunter: TOM GOODWIN Score: 15 4/16 I'm pretty sure I had 2 canidates few years back but old and smart. Often these end up solo pigs outted by New young stud and they will look like a Bison all front with tiny butt! Sometimes maybe just a 25lb pig cuz so old but the head will be like a tank. Happy hunting folks! Maybe 1 day I will get a 15 1/2" beast but that's almost a full inch over my biggest so...

I must agree. I just killed out of a herd that has same address for 30 years now and probably 30 before I came along and found them. Same 3 big trees, same 2 big rocks, same DEEP bed absolutely invisible to the eye from anywhere except 12" away from it. If you don't see them coming or going you would never know they existed. Glassing feeding grounds and shooting pigs works but what about when they bail? knowing their home address works even better. Primary address Secondary blow out and hide shelter 3rd is probably around backside same mountain cuz now they are anoyed DONT LET THERE BE A 4TH CUZ THEY MAY LEAVE THE COUNTRY IF YOU SPOOK THEM FROM THAT SAFEZONE. If you do not succeed by #2 them regroup and come back few days later.

Anybody ever wonder what a 95 grain ballistic silvertip does to a javelina when it's delivered via 243 wssm? This is entrance wound and looks like the dang projectile was explosive. π¬

Brian honestly I missed him all day. When I got home considering I had pig poop going down my arms and even on my neck I didn't do much loving on him I looked at him from a distance. LOL but I will make up for lost time today with him :-). On a side note guys after many years of hunting javelina I found something that helps remove the smell from your body it's called Pine Tar Soap. Wife had a rash during pregnancy one of the things they recommended was Pine Tar Soap so I ordered multiple bars of it and last night when I got home I scrub from head to toe with pine tar soap for 10 minutes and I don't smell like a javelina at all and I carried him out of my neck. I will always have a bar of Pine Tar Soap during Pigπ· season for now onπππ
