I can respect all the studies/management & everything the govt. tries doing to improve habitat/ land and the overall herd numbers and health for game species and all the wildlife in generall...but I still think Our forests were doing just fine before we got here and still would be without our help....and wildlife too for that matter...But today besides the regulating of how many critters we grill up for food and trees we chop for homes and warmth...that's all good stuff and needed....most the other things our goverment does " for the land and wildlife" I just never will understand...but if I went to college to be a biologist or Forest ranger G&F officer etc. etc... maybe I would... I still say let the wild be wild, leave no trace & accept it's gifts and use it's resources wisely.. Hey Tyson let's go sheddin and maybe you can convince me otherwise bro...maybe I can you also... Those few and far between truly wild areas seem to be doing just fine man...except for the wolves and controlled burns gone bad, and "planed" grazing of cattle in our forests and woodlands and even deserts where cattle have no place..that benefits wildlife of course according to some gate signs, I would like to understand why. all this supposed beneficial management.. all I see is Damage -
Man that's a good lookin buck, especially a first, congrats

What do you wear on your feet for a stalk?
AZantlerhead replied to couesarcher's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Some old and stretched & worn out boot socks over your boots can quite your steps pretty well. two pair if they are thin...they don't last long in the rocks though... usually a day...but hey they are close to goin in the rag pile anyway. -
I think that one fawn ate all 50lbs of corn ...I don't understand though.you are trying to bring bucks in with feed and salt but you won't hunt it?? Absolutley nothing personal but I believe you are splitting hairs my friend...It's great we still have the right to decide for ourselves to use bait or not but I think your torn in staying true to your own morals on the issue...maybe not but it sounds like it. Nice pics and best wishes with your spot, sounds like you have some work into it and looks like you will get your chances there.

The brown, only the third coues brown I've ever found, had some good mass Found my biggest coues forkie to date on this trip also, assuming he had a matching side and a 12 inch spread this buck would go 86in I was real happy to find this after I goofed up and lost a similar buck on my general hunt this year, It was on a east faceing slope in the open, surprised no one had glassed it up, taped out right under 100

2 years ago I drove in a couple miles for the day and parked at the end of a road, Hikeing back to the truck with a wet rag on my face through a smoldering forest fire was no fun...luckily where I parked was in a clearing and the truck didn't get burnt up...Another "controlled" burn that got out of hand. Yes it made the news and was a named wildfire, no I didnt report they could have killed a couple hikers and burnt a truck up, along with the thousands of acres of forest they " accidentally " torched... Yes I'm still ticked about it... This weeks fire, I knew this storm was coming 4 days ahead of time, so did they....But hey, light the fire or we'll be out of jobs and funding right? hmmmm....It's all about money, that is just my guess. If I deliberately/accidentally lit a forest or in this case range fire thered be h3ll to pay. My vote would be to let God do the burning...man seems incompitent to do so, and at tax payers expense. It seems most the white mountains and rim country is either covered in ugly and unnatural brush piles accompanied by spray painted trees and ribbon, or recovering from a fire that got out of hand because of them, and allways seeing a " prescribed" fire burning and grey skies in our mountains is getting old. I'm totally against " controlled" burns. I think the corporate loggers did a better job managing our forests, and provided more jobs, and didn't spend tax money but generatred it, they had to answer to government...who does the government answer to when it screws up our land?? I'm sure our forest service is needed organization, and I'm sure the peoples they employ have the best of intentions and a true love for the land...the people overseeing the decisions, methods of management and funding...not so sure. MY .02 cents is all -
Can people really be that stupid? I think they were playing dumb....what's next a treestand or blind, a horse in a corral, a pack left on a trail while I fetch water, a whole camp or quad left on a trail? C'MON!!!

Congrats man!! I'd hate to be on your hit list, way to scout umm up & that's a Bruiser for sure!

Best Offroad/ Hyway tires for Coues Country
AZantlerhead replied to Santana Outdoors's topic in Other Hunting Gear
+1 some good rubber...They've passed my tests, I recomend them also. Allthough I'm due for new ones, got like 50,000 out of umm now..The most any tire has lasted at the mercy of my lead foot. Cheaper tires I've bought would last me like 30,000. Probly true, you get what you pay for with tires. -
Great Job, sounds like an awesome hunt,,, the three bucks wrastlin',,,,thas cool stuff!! wonder if there all cousins or brothers lol
