We just used the horse on the trail going to our destination and back, wich was fairly easy going and recently maintained for the most part. She did better than expected with the sheds wich was a new rodeo for her. Yes, steep area though.

AZantlerhead replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
seriously awesome coues bucks! WOW! -
probly last years haul, alot of year olds can look like browns at a glance also, never know, it could have all been this years if he was folowing a serious herd with alot of huge bulls? sure theres a few big elk/mule freshies hittin the dirt though. Drives me crazy seeing all the brown deer finds on the internet since december in other states, good luck finding a coues brown before may/june... Allways lot's o whites n year olds year round though, Big Elk and muleys droppin next couple months. Never to early or late to go for a hike and look for an antler in my book- my answer

I like to pace the floor alot before a shed hunting trip, sometimes doing miles a day JK, well not realy the question-Shed hunting /hiking itself can get you in good shape..and I agree with Amanda n Gino... Some good comfortable boots/pack and start near the house. Or u can do jumping jacks infront of your computer...whatever floats ur boat. If u have a gps/radio and can use it thats GOOD, otherwise it's not good to separate in the woods for a newbie, helicopters get called and stuff....Do what your comfortable with.. Be safe and have fun, If your not in better shape before shed hunting you will be after.. two pairs of sox on keeps the blisters down for me.. n I also agree, lot's of water/lunch n snacks

Pm for more details... serious only.... I'll try to post some pics up. I know it's not a hunting rig... but maybe it was in 1953 who knows haha...

No way C n S.....I got some special boots and there guaranteed to make me as fast as an elk, those babies should compensate for the extra weiht of the armor i must wear to actully get the antler from the elk JK I'll probly still be too slow

There is never a bad time to go shed hunting... Antlers on the ground 24-7 / 365 days a year... and if u don't find any, OHH well... I'm sure u and your son will have a great time anyhow . Best of wishes, & when u do find umm, they will be souveniers that ensure u won't forget the days memories being in the woods with your boy, Have FUN! This is a horn I found on fathers day last year right off the highway.
