First Coues hunt and Buck, Unit 31
AZantlerhead replied to AZantlerhead's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
My dad helped me part of the way, used a #7 piece of rebar and carried it Native style. on the steep parts He helped me put it on my shoulders and i got it to the road for us. Carrying it double in the rough, thick stuff was actually harder than by myself but we worked it out. carried it about a mile to a dirt road i'd brought my truck up to cut the distance, lotts of new " memory scratches". I never guessed a coues could be heavy but he was as heavy as last years little 3x mullie 4- sure. Well worth it no question. His feet were big 4 a coues, gonna make gun racks out of them. -

Looking for a new ML scope
AZantlerhead replied to Sundevils79's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I use a Bushnell U can pick up at wal-mart for 40 bucks on my Wolf magnum 50. CVA in line I also bought at wal-mart for 140 bucks .. I'm thoroughly satisfied with the both of them . It's under a 200 dollar rig that I can shoot out to 200 yds. Dollar a yard, not bad. Both are warrantied, but I shouldn't need umm. I don't worry about scratches or weather with this Beater, and it works, supper accurate. I even left it charged over the winter, oops, put a cap in it this summer, and nailed the coffee can no problems. I have it sited in 2.5in high at a hundred and that's all it drops out to 180 so i put those crosshairs where they always go and don't worry about it. -
Red dot on a CVA Stalker Rifle
AZantlerhead replied to ichiban43's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
My father had a red dot put on his Kentucky Kit MZ he built. He did take it to a gun smith to have the mounts installed, so I'm assuming the smith drilled and tapped. He's taken 2 pronghorns with it since then and has upgraded the red- dot witch fit the original mounts he had put on. -
Great mounts guys!!!!!!!!!!! I think I would mess myself if I saw that kinda buck within range Nice lion! Great Sheeps 2!!

My stomach literally just turned in disgust. Theres holes in the mountains for people like that And any kids who would do that need some serious help. I would treat the perp like he killed my cousin or something. Remember that old movie Next of Kin, yeah like that ! Some of my horns and wildlife collection is simply priceless and irreplaceable.I'm sure he felt that way. What a shame Did they take the family photo albums 2? Same Diff

Nov 07. Got an early Coues tag this year. My dad had a whitetail tag last year. His first experience with them. Well, he passed on two 60-80 inch bucks, shooters. Being used too mule deer he didn't know they were good bucks. He sai'd" I thought they're rack was supposed to be taller than they're ears". I however have studied coues , found they're sheds and heads and know what a good coues looks like. I'm stoked about my early 31 coues hunt this year!! So i'm hopeing they are in the same area this year, even bigger. This year he drew mulie for 31. We got consecutive hunts for both species two years in a row. Oh, he ended up shooting a "meat buck" or spike on his last day. I lucked out an got this nice mulie the first morning. I love 31. Ohh and in the arizona trophy book there are numerous entries for coues from this unit and area. I once heard that trophy coues are common. Seeing them and then shooting them is not, this applies in all units i'm sure.

Man, I wanna hunt that lion bad. Cool pics -
Nice Muley Set man. good find! Any Potentialy lethal wild animal that takes a stand to take my life will get the same in return. Now If a bear, lion, pig, rattler or something tries to maul or kill me, well I got a new .45 with a laser and spare clip that will solve that!My new means of a sidearm. After my last beary scary bear scenario I moved up from my lil' 22 snubby. I've encountered one rattler who didn't want to kill me, I let that one go. Otherwise I've got a nice batch of skins as well. Ohh, and bear tag in hand, me and my dog ar going for a rematch with Mr. Big Bear!! He's gonna get 250 grains of sabbot from my .50 . If I ever catch Another lion trying to put his moves on me again, guess what.............................................. If a potentially lethal animal trully doesn't wan't to be bothered and IS scared of me more than I am of Him , goes his own way etc. etc. Then we will both live. The only other alternative is usually death for one or both. If you've never encountered wild animals " gone bad" then you're probly on the other side of the fence with this issue. If you have then you probly carry a sidearm and are both willing and able to use it i'm sure

Cool! My dad and I once got to be that close to a spotted calf elk. As it spooked and ran, mother no where in sight we said. " wolf bait". glad you did notice the doe around. I'm sure it was re-located when you left . Don't know what became of the baby calf though Hope it ran in the direction it last saw mama.

Thanks for filling me in bro . Another question you might help me with............. Does the NASHC require that the person recognized for the antler be the finder of it? And how come nothing seems current on their site? just wondering what's the deal with that site. I've been wanting to join and submit some bone.

found a nice one, and matched up a set!
AZantlerhead replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Shed Hunting
matched spikes, TOO cool man!!! good typical sheds there too, I'd tag him! -
Touche my good brothers!!! It's always in good sportsman conversation I can assure you I have looked at the NASHC site, I've seen how many entries our local guy allen has, how many were bought off the res is my question? Does it matter where the antlers come from, or must they be found by the person recognized? Hope someone can solve this for me
