Awesome, What a great buck!!!!!!!! You make it sound easy....... Congrats friend, well done!! FYI to all---I've been stuck around Show Low " hunting around work schedule"wich only holds a few Coues so I've been chasin an Einstein Smart 200 class Mulie but with no luck yet. You have me thinkin I'll hang my stand over my Coues salt and try for one of the only Cousies close by the last week. I've got my Oct general Whitey tag again so I wont be bummed if I don't stick one. But I'll trade that tag for a Monster Mulie or descent Coues archery any day , as I've yet to get an arrow in a deer. Maybe make it to my Sheddin range this weekend or next, seems I'm in bow range of a nice coues every time down there. Mulie bucks are common in there but you never see umm in bow range. I could care less wich I get with my bow. Ive carried my bow through many seasons so it's frustrateing keeping the faith . But just being out there in the woods is nice, and haveing the " opportunity" to harvest a buck with my bow. I'll keep a tryin . These nice archery bucks posted up is inspireing and motivateing. Thanks

Nice picture buddy, go get um This weekend. Ohh and welcome to the CWT.com my friend, and never mind my never ending sarcastic remarks. Ohh yeah, I found his sheds today actually, they were in the Kaibab, go figure . Monster buck bud

*HELP ME SCORE THIS BULL* @ i added a few pics for the skeptics
AZantlerhead replied to justahunter's topic in Elk Hunting
Well my friend, you definatley have your work cut out for you hunting a specific Bull like this one. He looks smarter and smarter every time I look at him , maybe the early rut will dull his survival instincts a little, maybe not.. Best of Luck!!!! The only #numbers I'd worry about is the daylight hours and hopeing you see him then, maybe your yardage as well . Then measureing the new wall in youre house you had to build to hang The beast up properly, without him sniffing crotches at the coffee table . Then after awhile seeing what rank youre name is under in P&Y to honor this bull and yourself . Again, good luck, you'll need a little. Is he still gonna be you're focus? Do you have him fully patterned yet( beds/water/food/trails/sheds?, or just know he comes to the camera right after dark on july 19th?? How about the local cow herds, in case he's ruttin by then, have you patterned them yet? YOU WILL CONNECT WITH HIM!!! BE THE BALL!!!!!! Kinda like lookin for Bin Laden. I'll be looking for Sadams brother myself this year dureing archery deer. I'll go ahead and wish myself a little luck as well. -
Pulled a card yesterday, lots of wildlife

That velvet shedding Bull is bad to the bone!! Those little fawns are cool too, they look very healthy, momma does as well. Nice buck, looks delicious. -
Dad got this buck on Halloween while on horseback atop gobbler peak in Nutrioso. The rifle is a mauser in 762 or 765? Havent looked at it in awhile....He packed the buck home a few miles to our front door. And hung it on the front porch as you can see. I've stared at this pic allot. The house is still there, one of the first on the mesa to the north of Escudilla Mountain. He built it when he was 23 i think, whenever he got out of the marines anyway, grew his hair and used the Training on this buck.My Father, My Hero My friend

Allthough, Calling this deer a "carp" is a shame . I wish people wouldn't call umm that but whatever. They're majestic and a hard earned trophy in they're own way.

Is Coues Big Game? C'mon buddy, you might as well drop the F- bomb.Said by many to be the hardest big game animal to hunt. Look it up, while your here .

Just wondering why all the hype about these tags? I understand some bucks will wander about all day exposeing themselves from time to time lookin for does dureing the rut( lots of action) but other than that, I don't really get it . Personally I prefer hunting early seasons for high draw odds, low pressure( hopefully), and the challenge of finding a buck or group of bucks while theyre wits are still fully about them . I see in the success rates on average about 60% or so of december hunts are succefull? Is this why? IMO I'd rather be drawn allmost every year just for the opportunity to go hunting and Haveing the satisfaction of defying the odds if I get one. If not..... i'll probly have another tag next season. Seems some guys on here are waiting A LONG TIME for those december tags. Is it really that much more magical or easier? I just figure in the time it takes me to get a december tag I can draw a handfull or maybe even ten years worth of early tags and hopefully fill most those tags. Or if not gain valuable hunting experience from time afield season after season anyway. Average success rates for the hunts we pick are usually 15-30% with very high draw odds. But weve been beating the low success rates thus far, 100%. I Have never been on a December( rut) Coues hunt so I'm asking in honest December coues ignorance . I obviously prefer an early hunt. If you're a December tag kinda guy, Just why is that? Maybe i'll change my mind.

This Is my great grandfather Reed sometime in the 40's? in old mexico. This was the Buck of his lifetime. Really wish I could have met the man . From what my grandma says( his daughter) He Really, Really appreciated this buck.(she couldn't understand why, just more cooking for her to do). Theres also a legend that in his early twenties he tried jumping out of a tree and knifeing a big buck . He was in bed for two weeks badly beaten up (allmost killed) by a mature mulie like this one, a very true story, one of those stories that outlives a man. You can see on his face the respect he has for the animal. Just wanted to share. This is all I know of him, he was a hunter and a good man, a WW1 vet- Infantry in the marines, he survived a brawl with a buck and a war, to allow my existance. Thanks Great grandpa Reed

Something's wrong here, AZantlerhead: If your grandfather fought against General Francisco Franco's government troops in Spain's 1936-39 civil war, as did Ernest Hemingway, author of a great novel about that revolution, he would have been deemed a hero in some quarters here. However, the feelings of most Americans after Pancho Villa raided Columbus, New Mexico, in 1916 were such that if he fought with Pancho Villa against Pershing's Punitive Expedition into Mexico, he probably would have been jailed or shot as a traitor if he attempted to return to the USA. I suspect you mean your grandfather agreed with the revolutionary cause in Mexico. Pancho Villa was just one of several leaders involved in that cause, most of whom (including Pancho Villa) were assassinated later. Bill Quimby Sounds like you know more than me about the history of that era.You gotta understand they don't teach about these"smaller wars in any school i went to, and I wasn't born till 1982. That's all I've ben told, Was that he "Sided with Poncho in the spanish wars or revolution" after comeing home from WW1. You never fail to shine some extra some light to something. You ever play Jeopardy? I'll haggle my grandma for the full stories when I speak with her again. Good excuse to call .
