AZantlerhead replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Personally, I can't stand a bow quiver. I bought a universal " hip quiver" from wally world a few years back and like it, allthough I do strap it on my pack half the time because it can restrict movement. But then again I've never had to use more than 1 arrow anyway, 1 time . Peace of mind haveing more with you I reckon. I allways wonder why Ol' Chuck A. has 10 arrows on his bow quiver in his trophy photo's, sponsor? Even though he's the man!! Good luck on your search C&S, thinking of going to a long/recurve bow myself....When I can afford one. -
Take care of the meat guys!
AZantlerhead replied to huntingfool's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I don't know we always gut them first. The hide needs to come off but it won't ruin the meat if it sits for awhile, especially if it's cold. Personally I think you lose too much meat boning them out in the field. I like to get the WHOLE animal out. I keep the hide ON until I can keep it clean. Skinning before you gut, I think you're gonna have trouble keeping dirt and sticks off of the meat. But to each his own I guess. But I can say for certainty that laving the hide on for a little while is fine, our animals are always tasty. Keeping them clean and cold seems to be the main thing. +1 -
Best of wishes and good hunting to all!!!

Dear God, this is the saddest thread I have ever read. My thoughts and prayers go out to all. May we take this trajic time and reflect on just how blessed we all are to have returned safely from our hunts and be with our families and friends, nothing is guaranteed in life, especially our life as we know it...... Most important to me is high draw odds and haveing another opportunity to go hunting. Everything else can be sorted out from that point.

Who would want to eat a javi?
AZantlerhead replied to joeeden's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I heard they have musk glands all over and are very difficult to field dress properly for good table fair.. Maybe it's not that hard to do?? Searching the web for detailed, illustrated instructions on Javi processing.................. They are awesome to hunt, maybe I'll taste one that's just as good to eat sometime. Post up a link if anyone has a good article located, I'm looking.......... -
Just blame it on " bad luck"? Better "luck" next time. Sure it was a good day anyhow, above ground and enjoying the hunt.

Who would want to eat a javi?
AZantlerhead replied to joeeden's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That's what I've herd, but untill I try someones that doesn't make me ralph, I'm not killing another one just to kill one. In my book they aren't even fit for dog food, ( un-edible) as my pooches will tell you.. Maybe someone will turn it into the "delicasey"<spell check lol> I've herd about some day and let me try it. All Javi I've tasted so far is not pleasant to eat, but must be forced down the hatch, and smells like the urinal at Bill's backwoods brothel.not that I know what that smells like, I'm sure I'm not alone on this, and sure some who havent tried it will tell me its very good.... The title of this topic is Spot on. If i ever taste a good javi meal, i'll ghange my mind. My .50 cents -

I don't, but will ask around for you. I've just never ate any properly cooked and dressed Javi before I guess. The ones Ive taken and cooked still tasted like pee . Not that I know what that tastes like but . -

I don't know if I'm informed correctly? But the use of any electronic device to aid in a hunt would totally disqualify an animal from the books? At least I'm certain electronic devices directly attached to your weapon dissqualifys a animal and hunter. I.E lighted bow sights, red dot scope, Scope with built in rangers. hmmmm I would think radios, especially hands free ones used on spot and stalk would fall under those rules, maybe even trail cams????? Someone that knows for fact should chime in. Quimby? -

, well when you see him, don't shoot. call me so I can be the one, you can have the meat . Without the systems Desert bull. all would be exterminated, like the buffalo, and elephant herds used to be..... You guys just kill spikes only so us who appreciate big bone can hang umm on our walls k. jk -
I propose a new scoring system!
AZantlerhead replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I thought the main purpose of scoreing systems was to give recognition to exceptional racks that are above average and bring appreciation and notice to "Big" animals for biology kinda records. And give fair mention of the hunter too, maybe even the finder of a big pick up?? Dan King definately put himself on a pedestool but who has ever really gave him congrats person to person? On the other hand we all get to be Aww struck by pictures of his monsters..........And i'm glad. Old Roosevelt was onto something.......I'm happy we have the systems. If I got a score for the forky I got this year based on the work I put in, it would score higher then last years. By a smidge . I think an overhaul of the scoreing system should be based on Volume of antlers and spread and symetry should be thrown out. as well, all guided hunts in mexico/africa etc. would no longer be trophy hunts. Wich is totally bass ackwards so............ I love the sickness that is this website, and all us sickos that go with it.....allways something to look at or discuss. -
