    Rattling and decoys

not a dexter the expert on calling but I've rattled in one Coues buck(Oct.), and had muley does come into a fawn distress and just doe bleats. Also had allot of use simply stopping dear with a series of " maah" mouth calls wether their spooked or not, or just one " maah" does it sometimes. Calling them in though especially in our rut is supposed to be a treat and a wheel of fortune, gotta try it if I make it out, works some in the early months and I heard now is really productive, Especially if your tied to a tree trying to stay awake and stay warm and keep your hopes up. . They say calling in the muley does' with the distress, dureing the rut, brings the bucks in right with them ? What about decoys? anyone "decoyed in a deer?" in AZ? thought that would be fun to try, with a stuffed real cape .

    Idiot looking for fame

Thanks for bringing this to our attention AZonecam, The story is sickening to say the least, a great thread for what NOT to do. Problem is that stories like this guys hit the mainstream media(News and Papers) and give hunters in general a bad rep to the Gen. public, especially in CA! Sad and sick. DesertBull, I wish you to down a giant next year, so you can hate every inch of it. . You are like the Uncle Tom of hunters. The story is about some idiot, not the 99% of hunters who are sportsman and appreciate what the scoreing systems have done for Biology, History, and the Conservation of our beloved hunted game species. Also real penalties on poachers who get their bone Illegally. Also a "Trophy Buck" usually being the highlight in a hunters collection rackwise, but not allways the favorite hunt. I for one can Appreciate Big racks. The man in the story will get what's coming to him, in man's courtroom, or god's, and by the public wich he is allready. Most of us will almost kill ourselves financially and physically and Time wise in our endless quest for bone, Legally and morally correct. There is just a couple hunters out of the bunch who are not true Sportsmans though. I pitty them, and the image they give the publiuc when the retards get caught doing something retarded is No Bueno for $&!*.

    Guilty as charged

It was a long and enjoyable hunting season and we picked up some of the "animal litter" along the way. Heres a couple phone pics, it's all I got right now. 6 deer heads/1 elk head, and the sheds pictured. Three of the large elk sheds were glassed up and the rest we tripped over.We also left allot of bone where they lay, and heads we didn't have interest in ( too fresh or too old/small).A pile we left in ? was 9 chalkie mulie antlers on a fenceline. We found a good mix of " browns" , hard whites, chalkies and skulls. The main highlight was another four weeks in the woods with Pop. My biggest Coues pick up Found one of his sheds aaprox.10 feet away from head, smart lion Set of palmy elk sheds Nice siderack dropped last spring in NM Dad found this Muley with probly 5 1/2 bases, 28 spread Realy old 110-120 head, what a shame This dude was lion killed on the day he was shedding his horns, one is still half shed on the skull, the other is a cleanly shed antler, laying under the same tree Old but nice rack I found in a wash in the slope of a large mountain : ) The one that came with meat, My 09" ML coues, he broke his passenger side G-2(when he slammed the rocks) but I fixed. My dad had the other three tags and got skunked : ( . More and better pics when I can.

    Moon phases question

+1, Spot on. There is allways a current moon phase calendar on the fridge door of our camper dureing our hunts. It's published regularly in North American Hunter mag. and lists the best times for game movement, according to their biologists. We take stock in it, but don't rely on it. It's fun to compare the calendar and game sightings each day and what they were doing..

    USERY ARCHERY RANGE SUCKS!!!!

Sounds like to me they need to compensate for the camping spaces that would be there if there wasn't a range. "So looks like they are doing a good job of running the archery guys off" and trying to keep finances in order to keep the whole park open too. , sounds to me like they are trying to make ends meet, and yes you just helped run some more of them off.... I'm looking into the future and see a semi sized RV where the targets once were. Did you speak with the manager about this? I'm betting there is a method to his madness as you see it. Come up to Show Low, there is a nice range near porter mountain, I don't use it but I think it's like $10 a year? Was $5 when it was still on the main drag in town. Maybe it would be cheaper to buy a land parcel then shoot at the usery, or spend the gas to go out in the woods and haul your own target? Just trying to understand your gripe my friend.
