Muley with East. WT style rack. NOT a Coues. Skull /plate is far too large. Find someone who has a 100 inch COUES skull from a buck that was very old 7-11. Compare it to the size SKULL of your muley pick up wich looks to be from a very mature deer as well, your friends Coues SKULL will be smaller by far, never mind the antlers shape/size or pedicle size wich actually tell Little of the species in some cases. Big and small antlers of all shapes and sizes still grow on a skull that is porportionate to the species. The distance between pedicles is usually tell tale( four fingers for MD, three for Coues) but not allways the case, as ive seen that theory flipped on some heads.. The SIZE of the whole SKULL or SKULLPLATE never lie though. Least that's what a little bird tells me. That's what makes those 150 coues' look so astronomically rediculus, it's cause they are attached to a little tiny skull/deer . Great rack though, bet you're pumped, thanks for postin, great find! What's the spread on that bad boy?

AZantlerhead replied to .270's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I watched his victory speech, NICE!!. Better than ANY made by Obuster and his goonie admin. Yeah Redneck, Pelosi is a JOKE!! It was a winning round for the people for sure, hope America can win the fight against the infilltration . Brown/Palin, I'd dig it!! Palin the other night on O'Reilly........" Buck Up or Stay In The Truck" I love it! Mass. Win has Obastard changeing his diaper I'm sure. GO BROWN -
I got this one last year and am VERY pleased with it, very functional, affordable and sturdy. Much better than the 1970's boy scout pack frame I used the first couple years, allthough it worked too. This one is also great for Hunting and Gamehauling. Your day pack of choice and sleeping gear can be attached and detached in a matter of seconds using the cargo flaps. Also a tip, Bailing Twine is the best rope to carry for tying on sheds, free if you have livestock or know someone who does, it's made to handle the weight, and tightens as you hike, also can simply be cut off when your done instead of trying to save it . Pack comes with a rifle holder and pistol holster as well as accessory pocket, the suspension ( waist belt and shoulder harness ) are comfy too. The blaze orange rain bag included also makes you feel safer while packing sheds/game dureing a hunting season and will protect your gear from the elements and meat from the bugs and dirt. The folding load shelf is the best feature.. I used a daypack with internal frame the first couple times I hauled a stack of sheds, a big mistake, dangerous and awkward!! Your back and knees need the stability of a rigid load, and the functionality of an external frame pack is just handy for haulin sheds. If you plan on hauling 80lbs+ in meat/ horns and gear, an external frame is the way to go. model and brands differ but will serve the same purpose.... Anyone have review for other makes? Good for Coues haulin too.. This is Another external frame pack I had on loan after my Boy Scout pack was toast. I forget the make, but the plastic frame was very wably, allthough it got the job done. Old red, the 70's scout pack that could.. This "pack" will get some more use in the comeing years as my knees and back grow older. Or you can weld a custom packframe like the one Jason uses and rivet on store bought pack and suspension. Carefull though, his pack weighs 20 something pounds empty, he's a mule so he don't care, he swears by his pack and I gotta admit, it's a beast and will Git-r-done. His pack frame will last longer than a man will, I know that. The ridgedness of his frame is worth the extra weight in 1' box steel tubeing. Also he usually carries an elk shed in the front to displace the load and keep you from fallin over backwards when you stand up straight on steep inclines.. If you have allot of money 250$ +, I would also suggest a "Bull Pack" from those guys in Idaho, the next one I plan on getting and bending up, if my body allows. Watch out though, the first time you max out a pack with sheds your addicted for life and will want to do it over and over again! God help you....lol, especially if you do kartwheels just finding one like most of us do. I felt I allmost killed myself the first attempts at backcountry shed trips. But have at it, It's a blast and theres enough national forests and public land and sheds for everyone willing to put the miles in.... A frame pack will pay in dividends by enjoying the treks in comfort and function. Btw the antlers get hung on brush more than the frame if that's your concern, allthough stalking game can be loud, but they stop and stare at the anlers in confusement anyway ... I'm still learning and will probly wear myself out before I run out of things to learn on the trail... Good to have an expert friend like Jason as a teacher too, many shortcuts and bi-passed troubles in that.. Hope this helps in your shed quest, Happy Shed Hunting!

Not sure to post this under memorials, prayers, or political??? I'm sure everyone has heard of the Earthquake in Haiti by now. They are saying 150, 000 people are presummed dead and missing. That is a stagering number of people to be called upon by the Lord all at once. They say food and water/shelter is just not there.....after four days? I understand were doing our best though.... America has given thier govt. 100 million, the citizens say " where is it". We have given them 3+ billion in the last few years as well. More money for them in the works too.... And illegals granted amnesty for 18m....... Their christian/catholic nation was still in shambles and extreme Poverty and had very little , very suppresed by their govt.. Why? And now this..... A horrific Tragedy for their nation.... Our Soldiers are basically being police there to keep the peace and hand out supplies as they arrive. 10,000+soliers in the next week. Once again America will save the Day for another country in ruins and unreast. Why is it when these things happen anywhere in the world, America allways takes over with money and law and order and rebuilding. We are still the greatest Nation, that is why. We are so Blessed here...Why do we allways get a bad rep from the world..... I hear russia is only sending 1 plane with one load of cargo? China- a measly 5mil? They say private individual charity donations from Americans will top 100mill as well for haiti. No- Obastard is still a liar, thief and sissyfied left winger-Greedy mongrel with no papers & bad intentions for Americans and the worst pesident we've ever had,Just in 1 year!!!!! Pardon the french, My freedom of speech! I hope we can oust him in three years, or put him on trial and fire his butt soon!! Mc and palin shoulda got it . They are a good people.. I hope our money/Soldiers will get they're country rebuilt & maybe kick they're govt. butt in gear to enpower their citizens and actually be ther for them as a govt. should be, and give them the money instead of some big wigs bank account. Thoughts and prayers to the Haitians..... Thank God We live here, America has seen better times- but we can still say that, Hopefully that can still be said after our Coward in cheif is done with us....

Are hunters managing their own deer herds?
AZantlerhead replied to Chef's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I respectfully disagree here, Very simply, Yes, Hunters are manageing herds. What the heck do you think Hunting is, what is the role of G&F to oversee it all? GAME MANAGEMENT. Otherwise All hunting would be outlawed OR there would be No bag limits and no tags needed... States of Utah, Texas and New mexico allready have antler restrictions, just to name a couple. Maybe not by choice but the restrictions are in place. Luckily in AZ , we can still harvest spikes, whenever and wherever, if we so desire.... with tag of course. The new Antlerless hunts in the kaibab also constitute as herd management, numbers of tags also " Managed", in an assigned unit of course. i.e "management" once again. Maybe it won't be long, AZ will also have laws stateing forked antler or better-NM or Three point or smaller--UT Or maybe even a limit on spread too-TX. AZ seems to allways be last in loseing individual freedoms and rights, but it won't be long... A hunters personal choice to bag a spike, or a 100+ or nothing is just that, a personal choice but still individual management of the herd( particullarly the spot you hunt year in and year out, if you shoot a spike 5 years in a row at the same waterhole every year- you have 5 less older bigger bucks maybe after 5 years, theoreticly, if you passed on all the spikes for 5 years , guess what, more older-bigger bucks, multiply that by the number of hunters now out for mature animals only.......- given they don't die naturally, that desicion of course overseen by allot tags, in a given time in a given unit with a given weapon of course. But maybe Big Brother of AZ will step in and make up your mind for you in days to come regarding what size antler too? No, theres no maybe about it, it's comeing. Again, Yes- hunters are manageing deer herds. Just read the heading above the unit map in the regs..... -My .02 cents The question you asked is very general and covers a broad spectrum, Great topic I'll shutup now- said my piece -
Missed this one somehow..... Awesome hunt and country, Great pics, nice massy shed and a solid Buck, what more could a guy want?!! Good times there! Congrats, thanks for posting.

AZantlerhead replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
That's cool man!! My ventures to my Uncle and dads public land gold claim a few times in N. CA was fun... I've only found a couple flakes.... You got me pumped to give it a solid effort, Nice Keep, From AZ to Boot! -
Boomhower says--- "Dang Ol'-NEWWW moon on the FID TEEN'th mannn,Talkin' bout dang Ol' Da-Rut man, no wad im sayin, dang ol' Bow-Chika Bow wowww! Danged ol' Good hUntinnn Man". Wishing those the best who are still going out trying to down a buck soon. Hopeing to get out and at least watch some activity. I'd agree with Boomhower that the days closest to a new moon are the best for high deer activity, especially in ruttin months.
