Srry you had a bad day and witnissed some idiots out there, you did take action and call it in right? Maybe ranch hands clearing the section to conserve graze? Or were they just a srry excuse for sportsman? A real sportsman and a good cowboy wouldn't do that, and being the witness and a good sportsman it's your duty to report it . Thanks for bringing awareness to this, even though it's irrelevant to my sisters awesome finds. Hope the next outing is better for ya man. Peace She's read the comments and says thanks, specially Tj

lol, NEVER!! We left 27 whites for ya though.. Jason 20 and I left 7 and a white 5x5 elk head, It's all yours . Probly a few more brown sets plus the sideracks we couldn't score too. Dangit!! Maybe next time....with the horses maybe, lol.. Am still sore, It was a doozy!! they're waitin for ya or like jason said anyone 4/3 crazy enough to shed hunt that deep in the units. G&f said nobody had shed hunted that far off the road in that corner of the unit, evident by the 30 year deposit of antlers in the 2x1 mile basin we worked. Fun but alot of work, I imagine even useing a pack animal would be a task. Man what a blast though!! Just drop us a pm if you wanna hit up " your area" for some stack n pack.. cool to meet others who share knowledge of units. Hey Cory, get your keester up here and help us pack sheds, you can keep umm of course.. ya- ya I know your waitin for Coues browns, but aren't we all.

Well, coming from a guy who finds hundreds a year, who shed hunts 12months a year, finds 8-15 keepers and a couple heads on most outings, doing 30-40 miles a weekend, this is probly good " expert" advice. Just a rookie myself, happy to find about 100 a year. But yup," I know better". I'm allways game bro, Not the mathmetician you are CnS but........I tell ya what Gino, if colton finds all 14 antlers off those 7 bulls, on that 1 hill, just by waiting another month to walk over there,, Well you can slap me and call me sally buddy . He does that and I might pay more attention to this waiting game. Untill then I'll follow suit with the best I know of, hike and shed hunt whenever I feel like it. Seems to work out ok. Wish I had the patience to glass and wait, I have glassed a few from time to time but myself I find more just pounding the ground , brown or white, to each his own I guess....well whenever and however you shed hunt, ( excluding cross country ohv riders ), I wish everyone all the best, can't wait to see everyones horns.

So when do they start dropping??(antlers)
AZantlerhead replied to headhunter's topic in Shed Hunting
Well got bored with all this " when is good time to look " talk, and took my own advice and walked my big sister Amber out the door for her first antler hunt ( on vac. from CA ), merely a 2 mile walk behind our neighborhood in my own back yard ( one my honey holes ), yes it was snowing and the wind was a blowing, also very muddy and cold, but when she said " I see one" it made for a very special day, her first antler, a big sixer year old elk horn....I don't know who flipped more, me or her? To say I was giddy is understatement, I think I shocked her with a hug more than the antler did.. I've walked and road my horse right passed this shed a handfull of times this year, just not round that ther bush though, some shed hunter I am , I guess it was meant for her , she said it was more exciting than any fish she ever caught, even said she got a rush when we got in the elk sign seeing rubs and working the beds before she found it, I could not be a prouder brother Sheds for me this week-0 First time sheds by women from CA in my family this week-2!! Took a pic when we got back from our little stroll round the neighborhood, srry it's blurry, was snow on lense I guess. Sorry, no pic from grandma yet, lol -
Awesome job " doin the homework" !! Really!! P.S. I'm sorry I left the bull with only one antler , he was a fast one!! Not yet touched on this subject I'm seeing in every topic......" Pushing,Chaseing the elk".. I thought surely with my Arabian Race horse, Machine gun, and 20 friends with quads and prop plane I could get close enough again while chaseing and pushing the bulls to wack his other shed off with my Loiusville slugger, maybe next time I'll try running umm down with the f-18 or my new baja 1000 rig. Or just call g&f, borrow the chopper and net, that would be easiest. JK, "Push or Chase elk", you guys are funny sometimes....... Some idiot has ben rideing his Motocross bike all over heck and back near my cousins place where we seen a nice herd couple weeks ago, yup- that's chaseing the elk, lame-o's like that will cause a shed season in AZ Btw, just walking locateing fresh sign we jumped the heard, they circled 100yds and bedded again, also returned the next day to the same beds......Havent seen them since the yahoo went offroading through the area though.........this is my point. P.S.S I would kindly appreciate it if everyone would stay out of the woods all next aug-sep-oct ......As to not push the bucks/bulls to the next county before the hunts ....you see they will be desprately trying to pack on the wieght before the rut and winter and are there for surely to fall over dead if captured in a cam photo or seen by someone scouting or hikeing or get jumped from their beds and god forbid move the other side of the canyon or next ridge over for a day or two, If they do that all hope is lost......yeah right......... heck, why don't we all just stay outa the woods period!! Man what a sickening thought...... I for one am totally against a shed season in AZ, but all for the outlawing of OHV's except for disabled hunters and game retrieval, People running around cross country with vehicles, the root of the problem. Nip it in the bud...Don't punish and restrict everyone else...Ohh wait, it's all about money, there goes that thought. As Reynolds told me, it's open season on sheds. If I ever have or ever will kill an animal simply by walking through his range by myself or with a friend or two looking for antlers. OR cause him to relocate and alter his home range he's roamed his whole life by catching a glimpse of him or him catching a wiff of me.... Well I'd just quit right now..... But that's total bs ( IMO ) and so is the idea of not shed hunting whenever I feel like it (antlers on the ground 365 days a year) . Worst case is that the animal moves to the next ridge or two over and drops his freshies there, that's ok he may have dropped there anyway... If I was shooting at them or running umm down on my horse they might get pressured enough to kill over or jump counties... but I'm not and pretty sure 99% of other sportsman aren't either... Happy Shed Hunting Everyone.....
