How will you make this shot?

My 18" reference was for a 300 yd shot in a 25mph wind (I feel that is a doable shot for me) According to a ballistic chart I would need 36" at 450 yds in a 25mph wind (never practiced that so not gonna do it)

How will you make this shot?

Either get myself to 300yds and I will take that shot compensate about 15 - 18" for wind Scope on 10x I feel confident either in prone or standing using a tree at that distance Or wait for the wind to die down and Crank up the turret using my cheat sheet on my scope cap. Scope on 14x Prone only having rifle supported as much as possible forearm and buttstock, I usually have a bipod and use my pack to support the butt. I would hold about 4" Under the left horn. 450 yds is a long shot so I am not going to rush it because he has me pegged I shoot a .270 topped with a 4.5-14 VXIII, shooting 140gr Nosler Ballistic tip

Swarovski Spotting Scope 80mm Vs. 65mm

STS = Straight eyepiece, steel housing........Old style ATS = Angled eyepiece, steel housing .........Old Style STM = Straight eyepiece, magnesium housing....New Style ATM = Angled eyepiece, magnesium housing.....New Style The Magnesium is about 3 oz lighter (in my opinion) Top end scopes in no particular order Optolyth 20-60 x 100 Optolyth 20-60 x 80 Kowa TSN 883/884 Prominar XD 883 Straight eyepiece, 884 Angled eypiece Kowa TSN 773/774 Prominar XD 773 Straight eyepiece, 774 Angled eypiece Swarovski 80 HD/ 65 HD Swarovski 80 / 65 Zeiss Diascope 85 / 65 Leica Televid APO 82 Leica Televid 77 Vortex RZR HD 85 Angled version only Bigger objective will gather more light in the morning and the evening But it weighs more and takes up more room in your pack. Most animals I see come out in the morning and the evening (low light conditions) So for myself I will be purchasing the larger objective. As far as angled or straight. I hear if you can get used to the angled spotter it is easier but takes a bit of time to get used to pinpointing spots and being proficient with it.

    Ward's Outfitters Blog

Very nice. The information is not drawn out just a nice small excerpt on what works. Good job guys keep up the good work and good luck in your pre-season adventures
  13. I was in your same predicament 2 years ago. Drew a Deer tag and had a landowner pronghorn permit. You will need to buy a: Antelope license (carcass tag included)$270 Habitat Management & Access Validation $4 BLM Habitat Stamp $5 You already purchased your deer tag $297 and your Deer license $270 Just make sure you keep your 2 stamps with you on your deer hunt so you do not have to repurchase them.

Drew a NM "Pronghorn Antelope" tag

I am not sure yet. It was multiple units and a rifle tag in Sept. First part is done now if we can get a good unit and a good ranch assignment.
  15. Well looks like the results are coming down the pipe. I put in with 2 other Non-residents. Good luck to others.

  18. From my understanding it is a big giant lottery Your application is given a random # Bonus point quota is met for each hunt that applies Then 1st and 2nd choice in the first pass Then 3rd.....4th.....5th They will keep filling up the hunt #'s until they have met the alloted # of tags. Does that make sense. Is this correct? If you have multiple Bonus points you are assigned that many random #'s?
  19. izquik72

    In the mail

The price for a bonus point is $7.50 1) Yes you can apply for a bonus point if you have either killed out for the calender year 2) Yes you can apply for a bonus point if you want to accrue points and not be drawn.

    AFRICA!!!

Wow that looks like a outstanding trip you had. Thanks for the photos.
  25. My uncle had a tag in there last year they saw a few good bucks and one great buck. (He is still alive) Oh yeah and my uncle drew that tag again! 23 years for a Goat tag and he gets 2 in a row. He was shaking his head when he told me he got drawn. There are some good areas in that unit but hunting pressure will be tough to get away from. Just do some scouting and have at least 2 backup bucks, and 2 more backups of your backup bucks! Why did you chose 18b?
