Short story: We glassed him up the night before the early hunt started about 700 yds away. My only goal was to shoot a bigger buck than last year, and this one filled the bill as my last buck was a little 3 point. So spent the next 4 days looking for that one, or possibly a bigger one. I passed on a forkie and a spike, other than that only does. Monday night, about 30 minutes before dark I glassed him up at about 480 yds. Now I know that for some of you sharp shooters its a chip shot, but that is out of my comfortable range. I quickly closed the gap to about 150 yds, put the cross hairs on em and click, safety on. I quickly took the safety off and fired. The buck dropped where he stood. There was some ground shrinkage but I couldnt be happier.

Its a Western auto revelation model R330B. I really doubt there is any collectability value of the gun. I think that I may have miss led on how old they are by stating that they have been in the family for a long time.

So I didnt know about the kit when I started but the stock is completely sanded down. After I stripped the finish I ironed the stock over a damp rag which helped pull dents and scratches up. Then I simply sanded the old stain down. Im a little confused on what to do next. I want a light natural stain while darkening the grain. Whats the best way to do this? As far as the tru-oil and conditioner, is that simply a finish that is applied after the stain?

Ive already sanded the 410 GA down, but I guess I will probably leave the 30-06 alone. Its been around a little longer. I just wanted to add a personal touch before I hand the 410 down. Thanks for the advice.

Not antiques or anything. Just passed from my great grand father down. Only centimental value here. Anyway I had nothin to do today cause I gave up on the archery hunt, so Ive already started with the 410 GA. Thanks for the Ideas.

I am new to the forum and I usually just read your threads and look at the great pics. However, this thread has caught my attention. It irritates me to no end when we reward the unemployed for being unemployed. I undrestand that there are curcumstances when a family will need public assistance. The problem is that there is no incentive to get a job (or a better paying job) when handouts are available. I know of people on public assistance who will not look for a job (or better paying job) because they would loose assistance. Make it uncomfotable to be unemployed and the # of unemployed will drop. Whats next bonus points?
