Well heck fellas, sounds like we are trying to bring back the old west so let's allow the native American Indian to have his hunting grounds back and attack any white settlers (like those wth cabins in Greer, Alpine, and all of the rim country that he comes across! Wolves are bad, Grizzly bears are bad and if what we all want is balance we need to start doing what the Chinese are doing and stop the pro-creating of two legged creatures as well. To keep it real, wolves and grizzlies were fine as long as we could shoot them on site and not "during a season only" or as "allowed by management". A wolf kills one of my pets while camping and there is no "repaying me" for my losses! You can't replace a loved one and if it happens enough you can bet there will be a reckonin from us down to earth folks who aint into tree huggin! We can't go back in time or who is to say we don't bring back slavery, stick women back in the kitchen and out of cars and kick the crap out of our children when they talk back to adults? Do away with Child Protectove Services, Game and Fish, ACLU and go back to public hangings for thieves and gun fights instead of drive-by's! We could go on and on but it is a waste and I couldn't buy enough popcorn to continue to read this thread though some of it is a real hoot!!

The key word to all this is "at" as in "deer hunter that had to shoot at his mule deer buck 4 times in order to take it"!! Had he actually been hitting the deer in the vitals one would think the animal would have expired! Be that as it may I would think a 257 Weatherby Magnum, 7mm Magnum or a 280 (Allen's choices) would be more then sufficient to harvest an animal out to that distance! IMO, just saying, for what its worth, etc...

Sweating, under-nourished and out of shape are the serious end results to freezing your arse off so wear wick away clothes, keep your engine pumping with good carbs and hopefully you are in good enough shape BEFORE you head out. Maybe consider doing three weeks of P90X just to hone the body a little bit maybe! Have fun and take your time going in and coming out as broken ankles and torn ACL/MCL"s are not a good thing!

Allen, we have already spoke in person about this but knowing your love affair with your 280 and wanting to use it I still think you will be fine with that weapon as a 600 yard slayer! Spend your money on good optics and do your own reloads and you will be fine! I am happy with the Vortex scope in a target dot reticle with their turrets which you also mentioned you wanted to go to on a scope, and you can get into a Vortex right now through Doug @ CamerLand for $249 and I think its $100 for the turrets afer you determine your set up. Now I am a rookie at these long distance rigs but after picking up TAM's 30-378 I am really stoked to get more educated and he is a good person to seak advice from as well. Good luck in what ever direction you go in and just remember your basics first and foremost and you will do just fine! Breath and "squeeze to please" brotha, squeeze to please!

Leica 1200 will be all you ever need unless you are planning on shooting out past 1200 yards? Scuttlebutt is on plains hunts like antelope in Wyoming/Montana where there is very little to mic the Leica seems to always acquire the target for you. Plus their waranty even past the two years is incredible to say the least!

Parting ways with my T3 in 270WSM. Rifle is one year old purchased @ Bear Mountain Archery. Comes with a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 scope on a Game Reaper base/rings (one piece) from DNC Products. Would like to inlcude dies, spent brass, some factory rounds and about 50 rounds of reloads (140 gr NBT)! Don't need any of it as I am going to a new toy and will be putting all my time and monies into it real soon!! Pictures to follow from a fellow CWT'er as I am too "challenged" shall we say to figure out how to post pictures on here! Price for all is $750, rifle and base included as specific to this rifle would be $450. Can meet within reason as I live in East Mesa.

Emergency communication with the BP
Broken Wheels replied to Ace High Benny's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Most of the military and other entities channels are HF or VHF and a scanner will get you in on some pretty good freq's. I spoke with more HAMM operators from the states then the countries I was "visiting" down in central and south America back in the 80's. As others have stated though, your best bet is to have a sat phone or call your local sheriff's dept and hope they are not all at a political rally somewhere! -
I also have a Tikka T3 with a Vortex long distance scope on a kick butt base and rings (one piece), reloading dies, brass, some awesome 140 NBT reloads etc...

You should have kept the rifle, manned up and got rid of the gloves! Of course my hunting buddies also give me grief over my TC Encore single shot but as long as I get the first shot in I am content! Enjpy it all for one day it may be gone!

Allen has already been filling me in on some of the awesome bucks he is glassing up there since yesterday so you all should have a great hunt! Good luck and God Bless

I don't see the "revised" price you state in your last message? What would that price be now? PM me if you like or just state it on another message or tell me where I missed it as I am retarded sometimes... Thanks!

Got an armored truck for your Sonora hunt?

Heck the shrimp alone is gonna kill our poor bookworm before the bad guys do folks! It already has him thinking he looks like a chica! -
Being a parent is not always fun and sometimes it is downright brutal but everything that we do is out of love for our children though they sometimes don't see it that way. It has been many moons (full ones of course at hunting season) since my youth but I can still recall how unhappy I was with my Father for not "siding with me" when my Mother would put her foot down, but it didn't take long for me to realize and figure it out once I was 17 and in the military! Good luck to you young fella and if it is at all possible as a young person, consider what your Father is doing as a good thing and learn from it which will be the best grade you could ever get!

Wow! This is way too heavy for me and a definite Makers Mark and Coke discussion around the campfire though I wonder how the old timers used to figure it out "back in the day"? I will leave this one to the experts for sure... Broken Wheels

Gino, that don't look like no heeler in your camp there, what kind of critter is THAT? Get to Oklahoma fast my friend... -
Hey folks, my wife has given her blessing so I am looking for a red or blue heeler pup (or mix with Australian Sheppards) as a Christmas gift for myself this year! Had two heelers before and love them and saw a couple posts on here where guys were talking about these great dogs! Course I also saw where some thought "not so great dogs" but if anyone knows of someone who has pups due to be released in December sometime I would appreciate a message or phone call. My phone number is 602-763-8374 and its a work cell so if i don't happen to answer please leave a message and I will call back right away! Thanks, Kirk

Wick away under-garments and since you are hiking in go light on the outer-garments too and just stuff a goosedown vest, beanie and gloves in your gear for putting on once you are in your blind. Cold at first but if you have a ways to go you will not be cold for long and you will appreciate your vest beanie and gloves that much more. No sweat, no scent carried into your blind with you either! Good luck and God Bless these United States of America!

Stoked for my coues hunt
Broken Wheels replied to couesobsession's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Just finished the October hunt in 32 on the east side of the G's too and wasn't the most entertaining hunt but always good to be out. Heard plenty of shooting on Ash Creek end of the G's as we were hunting the family ranch which covers a good portion of the G's and is closed to other hunters. Some family members were going in there this past weekend for the mule deer hunt as they have for over 25 years and haven't heard back on the long ear success. Coues were nocturnal and far, few and between, tons of water everywhere and not alot of daytime movement. Not the best glassing country IMO but it is nice to be able to take the wife out (new hunter) without worrying about crowds and reckless shots. Wish ya'all the best of luck and post some pics after you tag out!! Broken Wheels -
I have been looking on Backpage as well as Craigslist and saw nothing as of yet. Jackal if you happen to come across anything please let us know and thank you very much!

I have a friend that got a Blue Heeler pup a while back from someone on here. I just got a text tonight she is looking for a Red now! Kirk you have any luck finding one or has anyone contacted you? Thanks Dallas Still looking dude! One of my techs who is also a CWT person has a brother fixing to get some red's though I prefer a blue or a mix with an Australian Sheppard. I appreciate your looking out for me Dallas!
