This will make you puke

I stalked this buck on opening day 2.5 miles down a mesa. Dropped down below the rimrock and crawled back up to within 100yds. Glassed him up in the sunflowers and waited for him to stand. 3 steps and one shot from the .270. Enjoyed the hunt and the company of my uncle. Hotter than heck but one of the the best hunts I've ever had. Lots of scouting and 3 hours of hunting.

"The Draw" and a new topic....
rugerman replied to Ace High Benny's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
In 1998 I killed a bull in unit 9 and was driving down a dirt road celebrating with the bull in the back of the truck. Saw lights in the rearview and pulled over. It was the Coconino County Sheriff and he proceeded to check my license and tag. Said they were having a real problem with poaching. It was a pleasant enough encounter. -
Who Drew The Tag of a Lifetime?
rugerman replied to couesobsession's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
40b I really appreciate your offer, but we really lucked out not only on the draw but the hunt too. A close friend who has hunted sheep there before, has another friend who drew the other tag in that unit. He has invited us to join up with his group, so we are all set! Thanks! Mark Mark, Please congratulate Troy for me! I tried to send you a PM but maybe your mailbox is full? Jim -
Got my tag in the mail today. Felt a little surreal to be holding it after waiting almost half my life for it.

LOL good one....good luck to you and I'll probably run into(or over) you at some point

Found this set while out quail hunting.

Hopefully the spill will stay away from here. Nobody's been boycotting my AZ $$$$ yet!

Happy B-day Troy!

Good job Troy! Did you cook them up yet?

Outstanding Mark! Good work on whacking that lion. Your deer spot just got better.

Soar AZ, What you need to do is go to cabelas.com and order them for in-store pickup. This eliminates the shipping charges. I just ordered the 250 gr EZ Barnes and they are in stock. I will never go out of my way to go to Cabelas as they never have in stock what I am looking for. I shoot the Barnes spitfire 245 gr MZ in my Ruger 77/50 and they work great. I have a new TC Triumph that I haven't shot yet, but have read the spitfires are tough to load so I will try the EZs. BTW I drew the DEC 39/40/41/42 MD tag. I am looking forward to it

That would be me. Funny I've had stickers on my last 2 trucks in PHX over the last 6 years and haven't been spotted. I was in Tucson for less that 10 minutes and you were on me! You must be some kind of hunter

Congratulations Troy! I too am amazed you can sit still for 13 hours in a blind but not for an hour in class

Since I have the 8 lb can of IMR4350, I use that for 243,270,7mm and 06

Did you get a good look at his right side before you squeezed off? I know looking at that left side would get your heart pumping! Congrats on the nice bucks.

Mr Smith Is this your story? AzSJ Supporter Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Central Phoenix, AZ Posts: 3,675 Deer Story I guess I should post something... So I shot a deer yesterday. It was a bad hit and the deer ran off with three legs. We followed the blood/hoof print trail for about three hours and ended up bumping him out of his bed. Never got a chance for a second shot. We then followed the renewed blood trail til dark and not wanting to bump him in the dark we marked the spot and left. The deer covered over 3 miles. JLG Dave and I headed up this morning only to find it raining and foggy with less than 20ft of visibility. Decided it would be pretty pointless to look under those conditions so we came home. Headed back up tomorrow, hopefully we can find him but I am certain the blood trail will be gone. Thanks Airon (Desertghost) for hunting with me and helping along the trail. You are certainly more skilled than I when it comes to finding/following a blood trail. I will let you all know how this plays out. Hopefully we can find him. Didn't you give up after one day and then shoot another deer?? Perhaps your shot was at a range that exceeded your abilities with a rifle?? Do you really feel you should cast stones? I admire the way the young man stayed after his deer. Perhaps you are trying to take out your feelings on inadequacy on him? Nice buck Adam!

Same as some here, I let my membership lapse because of the phone calls/junk mail etc.... Actually they had called and wanted more money before my membership renewal arrived! Anyways I am a Life Member now and feel it is THE organization that is making the other side think carefully about the moves they make. All gun owners should consider membership. Now is NOT the time for apathy!

Congratulations to your daughter!! If she does get that early bull tag I don't want you guys on the other side of the hill from me  My oldest daughter turns 3 next week and I am already looking forward to to hunting with her. You all better start eating venison for every meal!
