I used to think a 243 would be as light as I would go, but the 223WSSM would be plenty out to 250 methinks....that's what the pieces of jackrabbits tell me anyways

Those of us in the Northwest Valley remember the transformer fire a couple years back. APS used that as a basis to raise rates this year. I just read that APS posted a 300% increase in profits this month since the Corp. Commission approved their increases several months ago. Coincidence?????What's in store now?? Some Exxon style- gouging?? Is that APS out in the San Tans or is SRP keepin' up with the Jones'???

temp auth on mine too $19.50 July 19th. I wanted one for $78.00 though

I have the bullpac too. 2 years ago my coues had to come uphill in 2 pieces. Last years mulie came downhill in one. I see on their website that they have a new rifle mount. That was my only complaint before, now I have none. Best frame pack I have ever used. My friend was looking for one last year for a deer hunt and I told him about the bullpac. Instead he bought some weenie one that broke on his pack out. Live and learn. Good luck this year.

I have TOPO with all the discs loaded to the hard drive in my laptop. I plug in the Garmin Vista and have real time navigation while out in the boonies. I have no experience with DeLorme.

Hunting Africa - Any Takers
rugerman replied to jamaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I just saw the IMAX 3-D movie "African Safari" at the Smithsonian in D.C. Very cool... made me want to go bad. I was surprised how much South Africa looks like Ash Fork. Except instead of speedgoats there are rhinos and elephants. -
Although I sure would like to get a cat, I don't think I ever want to be 20 yds from one. Good work Casey!

Long range 22 cal. bullet results on Coues
rugerman replied to 105Coues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
You know, I was wondering about this myself. I picked up a 223 WSSM last week and many articles I read seemed to think that it will be a good whitetail round. Zeroed @ 100yds it only drops 4.4 @ 300yds.Energy is 1150 ft lb @ 200 yds. Personally I will still feel more comfortable with my 243 or 7 mag. I'll post results later after I try it out on some coyotes. Anyone else have a WSSM? -
There are pigs in about every canyon I've been down there. Come to think about they're all over the flats too.good luck and be safe

That's a pretty cat. We had one run in front of the truck in Black Canyon City this morning. -
That is a good looking buck, congratulations. You're right about 21 we were out there today chasin' carp and piggies.

Last year when I drew a Dec. hunt and tagged a 100" buck I thought it was the best Xmas ever. Okay it was........until now The Lord delivered this bundle to us in early Dec. My wife promised no changes in lifestyle..................... Actually I did manage a forkie carp with my muzzleloader in Nov. Merry Christmas and good luck on all your hunts. All the hunt stories with pics are almost like being there...........almost....... God bless you all

36C was my favorite unit. I hunted 8years there in all three hunts. saw the biggest coues deer I have ever seen there, probably went 120" no kiddin. Hunted pigs a few times there too. Unfortunately I am done there. I've glassed a few groups of illegals before, had friends food and water stolen and i am always worried about being shot for my truck. There are deer in other units. Actually since I was lucky enough to score a 100"buck last year I'm chasing carp with a smokepole in Oct. Good luck on your hunt and be careful. The wildlife manager for that unit was Mike Hollister, send him an email. Oh yeah and do the trash pickup down there it's a real eye opener. AZhunters who care on Oct. 22(someone correct me if I'm wrong on the date)

I too am a teacher(11 years) and feel we are well compensated with the benefits, retirement and time off. I believe AZGFD is underpaid for the risks and expertise that their jobs require. It looks like they are gonna have to start rounding up illegals too since the feds won't do it. -
looks like something out of that Gremlins movie about 20 years ago

Congrats on the birds! we went 2 fer2 in 6A as well. hunterdude thanks for the info- we didn't take them from the area you were talking about but I appreciate you offering. I'll send you some pics. My buddy took one off the roost while I boogered one up. Went back to camp and cleaned his bird and we went back out mid morning. Outstanding hunt! We packed up and beat the storm back to town. treestandman- I don't think I have steady enough nerves to take one with a bow. Good work!

Good Desert Camping
rugerman replied to bowsniper's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I went camping around seven springs this weekend and it was perfect weather. The best part was when I heard my dog barking and when i went over he was toe to toe with a 2 ft Gila monster. very cool, we had the digital camera and got some great shots. we were up date creek the last weekend of quail and that was extremely pleasant also
