    back to back!!!!!

sept. 1 has proven to be a good date, both of my north american speedsters, in 2007 & 2008 were killed on labor day!!! glassed up a herd of 12, bout 7 a.m. and for about the 20th time, I was going to try and sneek in for the kill. while sneeking in, the heard buck spotted another buck that had only one thing on his mind. the herd buck chased him into the next unit. so i decided to chase his does off. from experience, i learned that the buck comes back to where he left his does, but he never came back!!! so we went back to the truck and headed down the road. after a couple hours of glassing we decide to head back to where i had chased off the does earlier. while driving back we spotted the buck walking across a flat, about a quarter mile away from where he left his does. so i hauled butt, and ran to where he left his does and set up behind a little knoll. it was perfect he came walking around @ 50 yds. my 380 gr. p.s.e. radial weave found its mark, a little back but it was a fatal shot. after i shot he back tracked, and came around and up on top of the knoll i was hiding behind, so i put another arrow in him at 12 yds. never thought i could reload that fast. and an hour later he was room temp, quartered up, in the ice chest, with ice on the way. all in all there were 4 of us hunting, about 10 arrows were realesed into the wild, none of them found there mark but mine, around 40 gallons of liquids were consumed, scabbed knees and elbows were all to common, but there are two days left. here he is on a scouting trip here he is on sept. 1 here is last years 2007 on sept. 1

    anyone elk hunting now?

G&F should have included a note for the 4b lope hunters, warning them of the thousands of otc elk hunters that will also be sharing the unit. i feel sorry for you but wish you the best of luck!!!!!
