You can call it luck or doing your homework. Im a local in the winslow hunt area but hunt more towards holbrook. There are alot of elk in this area this year they even opened up part of unit 2 but you have to have permission to hunt on the ranch. I believe the best time to go is june july and early august due to the fact that the locals haven't pressure them. The river holds pockets of water and they frequent these daily. Another is finding the food source they love alfalfa and there is plenty of along the river. Here is one of many that I have shot on private property. Good luck

The rewards can be awesome if you do the homework the elk typically are not year round residents in these areas but there is one thing that keeps these elk around and that is a good food source find the food source and how they get from food to water to bed. This bull came out of the LCR

I have several custom rifles and a couple factory rifles that im getting rid of. I have all the 'reloading stuff to go along with all of the rifles, including alot of ammo that shoots less than a 1/2" 5 bullet group at 100 yds, and also brass. i will work a little on the price, but im not hurting for money, just want to see some new butts in the safe!! .257 weatherby Sub MOA- replaced the factory 24" barrel with a Shilen super match stainless 28". i had the barrel coated black with the intent to use it for hunting. It has the origional stock that has been glass bedded, and also had a trigger job. I omly have about 200 rounds through this barrel from load developement, but found that a 115gr. nosler accubond at 100 yds shot less than a half inch group @ a little under 3700fps out of the muzzle. price is $1150.00 .300 Weatherby Magnum Mark V- Origional fluted barrel, had it custom ported, so the muzzle break does not unscrew, i had the origional synthetic stock glass bedded and a after market trigger. this rifle has a Leupold 8.5x25 VXIII 1" tube and a 50mm lens, this gun i hate to get rid of, it shoots better that any of my 150 rifles, it will shoot a 1" group with any bullet. The gun alone i want 1300.00 with the scope i will take 1800.00. 6.5x284 Norma- This is a custom rifle from top to bottom, built from a long action Remington model 700 action. this has a custom shilen stainless super match barrel, custom trigger, custom laminated stock, glass bedded. This rifle has a Ziess 4.5x14 rapid Z 800 scope. this is a caliber that Best of The West uses quite often, and i can see why. i have about 200 new brass, plus forester dies for it. i spent 4k on the rifle, i will sell it for 2000.00 with the scope i want 2900.00. i also have a new stevens 308 camo stock, 30-30 marlin, and a bushmaster ar-15 i wanna get rid of i will respond to emails only at a.lerma524@gmail.com

This buck keeps giving us the slip, he has show up while we got out of the blind to eat lunch, hes has showed up just after we have left for the day. But sooner or later he will make a mistake

I was fortunate enuff to draw back to back archery tags in 2007, and 2008. the 2007 buck had a lot of trash, split prongs, and 1" kickers on both horns, and scored in the mid 80's. The second buck was totally different had horns that swept back, and the prongs were really high on the horn. Both bucks were shot on Sept. 01.
