    A few bear pics

Here are a few pics from a camera which set all summer last year. in June bears came in every day but once. This spot had about three sows hanging out which brought in every boar in the county, well a handful anyhow.

    A few bear pics

I picked up a couple Smart Scouters last spring, they are great if you can get cell service. This particular spot has no cell service.

    Pears on the san carlos

I prefer the Sceery rack rabbit in distress. To be honest the technique is much more important than the brand or type of call.

I agree with azhunt.. hunting over dead beef can be a great way to hunt on the res, but If you're smart you'll shoot one before it starts eating on the cow. I snuck up on one while he had his upper body buried in the cows body cavity, as I approached I caught a whiff of the rotting cow, after gagging I decided to go find a much cleaner bear. LOL Hunting pear is great, but I've had really good luck calling on the res.

Which unit are you going to be hunting in?
  9. Well with record high temps on Friday my honey hole paid off again. In a 24 hour period I had 5 bears come in. The first afternoon yielded a large sow and cub. On the second Day I was about to climb into my tree stand when I heard a noise, I looked up the hill and saw this bear coming in, I detached my safety harness, untied my bow and waited for her to come into the water. As she walked in I snuck over to within 15 yards, after spending 1 minute or so in the water she began to turn around so I drew, when she stopped she was facing me but a few seconds later she turned enough to give me a quartering shot. The arrow entered the shoulder and exited the opposite rear quarter, she ran about 70 yards and piled up. I can't get over how fast the Omen Pro is at 70 #'s, it helped that Wac'em leave a serious path of destruction. While I was taking photos and skinning her I had two other bears walk in on me.

    Any one been to Powell?

I would say in the water..ha!
  11. We had the same thing happen on the Coronado last spring which effected folks with archery Bear draw permits. I called both F.S. and G&F, basically FS told me so sad, so sorry, fire danger is high and we don't want anyone on the land. G&F fish told me their hands were tied and I was told I could still hunt, but only on state land. The ironic thing is three days after they closed the forest UDA's started a huge fire. luckily for me I tagged out the day before the closure. I doubt the forest will stay closed until Aug 31, once the rains come they will re-evaluate and hopefully lift the closure.

Wireless plans start at $15 and run as much as $50/mo, it just depends on how MB you want.

    A Bear from yesterday

No, she did not come after me. In my experience the only time bears show aggression is when you get between a sow and her cub.

    A Bear from yesterday

Ha.. Not quite, only 4 of them have come from down south.

    A Bear from yesterday

She wasn’t very long but had a really wide girth, she was certainly large for a sow, but far from huge. Bears are hard to photograph, so positioning is important. I take roughly 20 -30 pics and usually only end up with 1 or 2 that I am pleased with.

    A Bear from yesterday

I don't have huge b@lls, I just get tired of spending a $100.00 on diesel every trip down and hate the additional wear and tear on my gear. These boxes are under serious lockdown and to be honest it is highly unlikly anyone will ever see either camera. Famouse last words, right? The thing that really bums me out is that so called hunters are the ones who are messing with or snagging cameras.

    A Bear from yesterday

Yes, I was hunting one of the sothern units, I've drawn this tag the last few years and have shot several neat colored phased bears. Since I shot this bear yesterday my Smart Scouter has been sending me pics every few hours. One of thebears looks to be a big blonde, I'm sending one of my friends down there Tues to try to get a crack at him.

Here is that box all set up, I couldn’t be happier with the functionality and construction. Security doesnt get any heavier duty than this.

    Southern Bears

I have 3 bears coming in and they have yet to mess with this camera. I dont really worry about them anyway, usually the extent of their damage is smugging up the lens with their tongue or wet muddy hair. I worry more about wetbacks and other hunters. Wetbacks love to destroy the cams with rocks and hunters will just take the camera.

    Tour de Tucson

With the exception of the one of our teammates going down and breaking his clavical we had a great ride. While climbing up Snyder I passed Barry Bonds, I offered him some words of encouragement, but he I don't think he appreciated it. I guess the dumb@ss is all tapped out on his supply of roids!!

    Tour de Tucson

I'm in for the full 111mi, can't wait! I know a lot of Tucsonans get frustrated with traffic control during this event, but the race is great for the economy and it's a cool opportunity for hardcore cyclists and armatures to ride together. Fat.. I think it's great you have your family involved, your children will really enoy it!!
