Got my 5A Bull tag today and mine too went into a secure hiding place.

A 270 is a great caliber and I have shot many deer with it as well as my trusty old 30-06. I have always prefered the 30 cal. for elk though. Several years ago my wife bought me a 300 Rum and I now shoot it exclusively. It is an amazing rifle. For shooting elk I feel comfortable and confident out to 500 yards. It will put an elk down and out. I shoot 180 grain nosler partitions and have no complaints. I say shoot the gun the rifle you have the most confidence in.

I will be spending Thanksgiving in unit 5A waiting for the hunt to start on friday. YAHOO
