AZ Strip trail cam ban impact..?. and other thoughts?
Elmacho replied to bigbuckclub's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Real easy: Keep your mouth shut about what you are seeing.....Bitch about how little you are seeing and how frustrated you are. I have seen everybit of the stuff mentioned above, albeit not on the strip, other places. I even had the single bull tule elk tag in the unit (CA)and discussed my plans with a couple guys with cow tags who appeared to be cool at the time. They did everything they could to screw my hunt, including driving their truck through the pasture I was hunting at night honking their horns and speeding around where the elk had been in the evenings prior to the hunt. (I watched this from 1/2 mile away on a hill while glassing).....people get crazy with this stuff. Best of luck! Enjoy! -
I'd still rather shoot coues bucks.......haha That is one heck of a ram. Congratulations! About as purdy as they come!

Very Nice Great job on that!

MMMMM..Tasty with garlic butter!....JK The govt was nice enough to build special fences in CA to keep them off the roads......we see a few here and there out bird hunting.

Desert Bowhunting without the illegals
Elmacho replied to JimmyHat's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Like???? Where??? -
Sierra Vista and the SE part of the state gets a bit out of the way logistically.......Further away from our aging parents and siblings, barring that.....no prob. Aint easy finding someplace not to far from family, plenty of bird and big game hunting, not too hot, easy access to exiting to states north of AZ, good mexican food etc. We have time to think. Now, why missouri-----sound it out MIS-ER-Y....lol. I hear its nice and plenty of the bigger whitey to shoot

I kinda figured, I've seen your input over the years, yo seam like one of the good ones! I simply love every second I spend out there. Trying to decide where to move to. Love to bird hunt(have 3 bird dogs), love to coues hunt above all other big game, trying to find the right spot that wife agrees with too. Although I really like Safford and Wilcox, that aint gonna fly with the wife. So probably Payson or Prescott. My bro lives in Cave Creek---too hot in the summer for us.....but a really nice place otherwise.

Catfish, its all good, but if your gonna dish it out, be ready for a response. I am not the normal CA type. (BTW my grandfather and greats were from Florence, Sonoita, Patagonia and I still have people buried there, I am coming back to my roots:) All the same, good luck this season.

Arizona is a beautiful place. It is rich with outdoor interests and history from kingman to douglas. I am one of those non-residents that loves to spend my vacation time there......but so far I rarely hunt OTC. As I age, every opportunity to hunt is one thing I am looking forward to, before I am "aged-out." I will undoubtedly start pursuing the OTC tag while it exists, as my time is starting to free-up. In fact, I will probably move to AZ in a few years....the time is close I will be able to leave California- its simply horrible to live in a place where nobody shares your values or passion for the outdoors, let alone hunting. That being said, I understand all your views about the flood of non-residents coming. Its just not for the hunting, but for a better quality of life...but don't let me get you all started down that road. Please don't become like the utards and flip me off when you see my truck's plates headed toward you out in the field. I will respect your space and live by the golden rule, if we all do that, our hunting community will be a great place.. Good luck to you all the remainder of the season and stay safe!

More rules, more rules.....that's what you all need.....need to be more like KALIFORNIA! They really get it over there..... (all sarcasm included)

well done- them are nice!

buy a nice beretta or benelli 20 ga semi auto (I have a montefeltro super 90- its dove-quail-chukar death) for everything upland, get a remington 11-87 or 870 to muck up and shoot waterfowl. Or maybe a Benelli montefeltro 12 ga it weighs about 7lb and points well too....and shoots 3". Biggest issue I see with 20 vs 12 for waterfowl, is that 3" 20 ga loads dont go as fast as 3" 12 ga loads by about 100 fps-----and smaller payload.......it does matter for waterfowl IMO. Best of luck!

WOW really?
Elmacho replied to azbirdhunter88's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
88- So.....you want to go hunting? Your spot of course.....lol Really, I have seen the whole range from guys giving up what I would call a sacred muley spot to guys that will barely tell you to go look in the desert for dove...... I tend to feel like you about stuff like that and have been burned by the closest of friends, or so I thought. These days, I dont tell anyone where I go, well maybe the county, .... and I only take "friends" I have trusted long enough....years..... I like your Kansas thread by the way..... -
Congratulations! Nice Buck

Lance, my comments were kinda made in general, I do not follow the camera laws too closely, but this one caught my attention! I do not run cams in general, but thought this might be the year to get a couple just because.
