Equivalent Sizes: Whitetail vs. Coues
j-rod replied to Broncazonk's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Here in Oklahoma, my peers think it is a travesty for someone to want to travel to NM or AZ to try their luck at a "tiny" wt. In fact, I personally believe that to the average deer hunter (east of NM) would question..."why?" A fair size eastern, as anyone knows (rack size), would score very high as a coues. Well anyway, I was wanting to put in perspective to these guys what an "apples to apples" comparison would be, numbers wise....according to p&y and b&c minimums. (This may be common knowledge to everyone on the planet, but I had never sat down and figured out the equivalency spread) For typical scores, easterns and coues are separated by 60 points. Ex. 75 typ.coues=135 typ. eastern 120 typ. coues=180 typ. eastern For non-typical scores, easterns and coues are separated by 75 points Ex. 105 nt coues =180 nt eastern 150 nt coues =225 nt eastern Just thought I'd make it easy! -

Thanks Allen, Its gonna be a lot of fun either way! You tell that buddy of yours that my arrow can beat his arrow! Good luck to you this year, I hope you stick a brute! J-Rod

I use a home made trail cam with a sony 4.1 MP camera in it. Takes really good pictures. And as to what unit....well, 22 is pretty big so you'd best start looking scottyboy! Good luck to all during the draw and hunts.

yeah those are cams too. Got all angles on that guy...those two are the best pics though. lots of elk, coues, rabbits, foxes, and coyotes too. Some elk are growing horns fast and others havnt dropped yet.

he's a shooter!

These trail cams are a lot of fun! Yeah, that big boy wasnt supposed to come from that angle, he must have not read "cross this way sign" I had posted. I'll get him all in the frame sooner or later or better yet I'll get him come August. DDS, I use the sony 4.1 MP cameras that take great pics.

ohhhh....its soooo cute, how could you shoot that? How many times have you all herd that one?

Half-a-coues! Wish it would have come down the trail I wanted it too!

Thanks Allen! I may give it a try this weekend if the rain gods ease up on us and give us a good dry weekend! Sure would love to get that lion! I'll keep you posted.

Thats great Nemisis. They are fun to build, and better than commercial units no matter what board you use. I am anxious to get my hands on one of those slave flash boards to use with my 380's. Flash is a great thing, but sometimes its a little "SCARY" (see attachment) -

I use the p41 with the BG1 (build it yourself type). Its a 4.1 mp camera and the board in my opinion is the best on the market! Nemesis....dont give up on hags, that BG1 board is 39.00 bucks right now and thats a smoking deal. Ive used lots of pix boards and they are not bad boards, but not quite as good as the BG1 IMO!
