Nice Stanly! I remember hunting by the old elementry back in the day when you had that rugger muli loader. I think this one will treat you rather nicely. My how the time flies. Whoa!

    New finds

Couple of finds while hunting Friday afterwork with Coues&Coyotes. Bonus find was this Bear Scull about 50 yards away. I sure wish I was the shooter. This skull is right at 20". As we were glassing we notice this art work. You never know about those inspirational types right Rembrant? Thanks for going with me Marvin.

Same here, I just could not make the trip from Flagstaff. I did send Ben a direct email and asked if I could help but I have not heard back.
  5. I think for many we have missed why we are hunting. The lack of limitations makes hunting a "non" sport. Even if a rifle shoots to <0.5" doesn't make the 6-800yrd shot reasonably possible for most people. I personally like my rifle to shot at tight as possible. The days when an elk at 30-35 was with in a desired range for a clean shot are gone, both of my bulls were under 20yrds and what a rush to be that close. Just like making an incredable stock on a bedded coues buck to get with in 250 yrds that you spotted at a mile away. That is exactly what make the hunt for me exciting. The idea that I made the stock to be with in a limitation of gun, human, and conditions.

    Unit 32

Yes, two years ago, I was involved with Matt W. and Ben B. at Mammoth picking up garbage as an event to ease tension in the area for hunters. Specifically the Mercers. There were people that showed up but not too many. I think many of the ranchers just don't like people being around period. Not all of them though. Like I said earlier, man have forgotten the land is shared around what they own. So, why can we as sportsmen get some legislative support to start roads/access around the private property and then later have the heavy equiptment come in to finalize the access.

I think most outfitters at some point forget that "we" were all the same types of hunters at one time. ie. not enough money to hire help or just looking forward to a good time with family and friends. I think guiding is the down fall of modern hunting because of the focus guide and outfitters usually place on the hunt including the money=success mentality. It is one thing to secure a deal and hunt on private land but to secure land that has roads developed and indirectly maitained by pulic dollars that cross public land is WRONG. The cattle permits that are used in most of Arizona are just that a privildge just as our hunting permits we buy. I am not saying all guides are bad there are many on this site that seem very reputable. Just somthing to think about when you draw your next archery elk hunt and scout as much as you can only to be cut off by your buddy making money with a complete stranger. I understand a bit about the "Mercer" ranch because back in 2002, I was around when "Lori" was very upset about the hunters not covering T.P. and leaving garbage in the camp sites. I spent my "Monday" morning picking up trash to help calm her down and then only to be told the next year I had to pay to access the ranch. Ok and so it is, but to lock up surrounding concessions of land that eliminates a good portion of the Western side of 32 is not right for a single outfitter. This battle needs to go to a higher place than just G&F because there are not enough resources at G&F to help. They are under staffed and in most cases work harder than they pay reflects. I believe this will become larger than just a 32 issue or other ranches eventually because the "cattle" people feel they own the world and have forgotten there land has always been shared. Why do you think everyone they have been around eventually they have faught. If they had to pay for the price of their business they would be a thing of the past. Unlike hunting that supports conservation with millions of dollars a year.

Newest addition a la GRONG orange.....

Way to go Grong. Gotta love the orange man! Hopefully you will still have your ears later in life from not being fried like olde mr.sanders (KFC).

    140gr in a 300WSM

I would have to agree. Lighter bullets are tough on the teeth when you eat that little fella. I shot the 168gr Nosler Ballistic Silver Tip at 3275fps. It doesn't come appart and if anything it seems rather hard when I have done various recovery tests. It has not torn the coues in half I have shot. I know in a 300 win mag the 150gr. can be a bit violent and this is why I have stayed heavier. I have never been a fan of solid type bullets but I hear they sometimes shoot good. The gain in trajectory will be marginal with a lighter bullet at longer distance because of the nice ballistic coeffiecent of your heavier bullets.
  16. I would say top of the "P&Y" club for Plump and Yummy!

    couple elk horns

AZ402, I think your avitar should have a "Grong" orange tank top on! Yea! Do it man!

    couple elk horns

Just a couple pics for "Grong" on this weekend of bear season. I was please to pack these out even if they are not "coues".

    couple elk horns

Yes, three different antlers. Actually my friend found a 4th that was brown in the same area. I guess sometimes you get lucky and find something your not really looking for. ie. bears.
  20. You might have a career in the ministry Geoff. Well stated. Nothing better than having your closest people around to share these types of events you are a blessed person. AMEN!

    Predator Hunting Contest

AZ402 and I have had a long life of love affairds with the GSP! You Avitar is nice and no need to change your name unless you feel funny about it . AZ402 & I, have moved on/up to "Grong" these days. I may have to change my logg in.

    Predator Hunting Contest

I am in! I will have to load something "wicked" for the new .22-250 single. Something with a large cavity and, and , and , speeeedddd! 26" barrel should help!

    cam, scouting pics

Yea, you got to watch people for sure. One day you have a nice salt lick and the next you get pictures from third party or a complete stranger whom is excited to hunt elk off a lick you have started and maintained for a couple years. I guess all fair in love and war. People are funny that way about finding their own niche! Thiefs are not nice for sure. Good luck archery if you go! Don't give up just because others are in an area.

    Lion hunts

I would call "Dog man" or Randy Epperson of "Rimrock Outfitters". I don't think you would be disappointed in the opperation of his dry ground hounds.
