Is a guided hunt as satisfying as do-it yourself?
mattobertin replied to lousyhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I think the answer to your question could be answered by you and only you. My suggestion is to start saving some money up and do your research on what you want to hunt and which guide to use and go on a guided hunt! You tell me if you feel like it is too easy or unsatisfying to harvest a great animal and learn how the real pros do things. I think if nothing else you would learn a whole lot and probably even start saving some more cash for next year! -
Why don't i go with u for an extra pair of eyes?????
-
Sweet deal! I hope you whack one of those guys!

Nice ride man. Let me guess you are a welder? I want to see the pile of beer cans it took to design that baby! Thats the real accomplishment! LOL! A year into a build like that is pretty darn good if you ask me!

You sure it was the same deer? That sucks dude!!!

sitting water during late hunt????
mattobertin replied to jonscaife's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I have seen alot of action from whitetail at water from about 11:00 a.m. - 3:00p.m. but they will come in at any time so I would say if you want to sit a water hole you should stay all day. Seems like mulies water at night or early in the morning but you can't believe anything you hear when it comes to hunting, you have to see for yourself and adjust your game plan from there. Make sure you have a comfortable blind and be silent and alert the whole time. (VERY TOUGH rule to follow!) Make sure you can pull your bow and have clear shooting lanes and all that jazz and by the end of your hunt you will be telling us whether it is a good idea or not to sit a water hole! Good luck and be PATIENT! -
That is clearly in 3*....I know where exactly but I will not say.... Thats clearly 3 in the afternoon in the superstitions! LOL!

What makes a successful hunt for ..... YOU?
mattobertin replied to WinMag's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
WORD! That is exactly what I'm talking about but you said it alot better than I! I think it's funny when guys say that it does'nt matter when you get a kill. If that's the case, why not just go camping and leave the set of $2000 binos on the shelf? Not to mention the other gizmos and gear that we spend our hard earned paychecks on to find and kill game. LOL! Now for all you guys that trully don't care about harvesting an animal to each his own but I can't stand to lose! -
dont think Im gonna shoot him, I saw him tonight. I know theres bigger ones out there so Im gonna hold out. hes in a archery only area so Im not worrying about december the soonest anyone could get a crack at him is in January. Just shoot him already!!!!

Don't get me wrong I love to be out with family and friends BUT, when I leave a hunt empty handed I feel like there is something I did wrong and am always second guessing my decisions. I absolutely love to hunt but I like to kill even more! I know I will probably catch some crap for this but hey thats me! I have been hunting for twenty years and I think there will be a day when the kill won't be as important as the time spent, but until then i'm pretty hardcore about shoppin for backstraps and puttin em on the ground! LOL! -
LOL!!! Me too!

DO YOU NEED A SPOON.... To help clean them? I dont know if I would ruin a perfectly good spoon!

I was looking at this mapping software in the CWT store and I have a few questions. I am not very good with computers so how tough is this program to learn how use for someone that is not very computer literate but capable of learning? Is it worth the money if you don't plan to use a gps with it? I mostly want it to just print up detailed topo maps of hunting spots so I can carry them with me in the field. Are the maps very detailed with forest rds., 4x4 trails, water holes, etc.?

Actually when i was spotting for casey when he was shooting, i saw the buck grow that fourth point after the "FIELD GOAL" shot in about two seconds he was so darn scared! LOL! I think he heard about casey and his famous head shots!
