    Might be a honey hole!

If you ever get over your fear of the water rat let me know I have a sportsmans whouse float tube, pump, large waders, flippers, the whole nine yards I have only used once. It is very nice and you sit pretty high out of the water so you can fend off the water rats! I will sell it for $150 or a trip to that pond!
  3. I am sure that this is not the first time this subject has been posted on this site but I would really like to have some of your input on what the best long range caliber for hunting deer is and what you would choose if you were buying a new rifle. I was thinking of something like a 270 WSM. Also what brand rifle, I want something light and good quality. And last but not least, what type and power scope for long range? I would say my top spending cap would be $2000 or less for both scope and rifle. I have been looking a little and really liked the Tikka because of how light it is and the price is fair too. Thanks in advance!!!

    Out of state Bowhunts.

How does the Utah otc archery deer work? I thought it was the same as here that you could just go and buy the license and tag on the way there.

FS: Honda 450 Forman ES 4x4

I have an 03 foreman 450 that has alot more miles on it than that one and the only thing I have ever done is a valve adjustment and change the oil and clean the air filter. The dang thing still has the original battery in it and it cranks up first try every season!!! They are great reliable quads whoever buys this bike will love it. Good luck on the sale I wish I could buy it.

Late 08 rifle javelina hunt pics!

om/albums/ee48/mattobertin/100_1057.jpg[/img]ums/ee48/mattobertin/100_1053.jpg[/img]ms/ee48/mattobertin/100_1054.jpg[/img]Went out opening weekend and had a great time to say the least. Saturday my buddy Brian and his brother Andrew and I got out of camp a little late (11:00am) due to some serious partying the night before. We all three went into our area where we spotted some pigs during archery deer season and all came in from different directions. Brian called me on the radio and we were BS'n and he says I got to go I see pigs! About 2 minutes later I hear three shots and Brian laughing and screamin! Made my way over to him and he had a nasty OLD boar down. He shot him from 200 yards give or take a few and shot the thing directly in the musk gland! Needless to say this thing was ripe! (his pic is on the bottom) Then after cleaning his pig we tried to fill mine and andrew's tag with no avail. We went home on Sunday with one pig. I decided I had to get back out before the season ended on Thursday so Wed. afternoon I went out by myself on a mission to have a good time! Hunted the heck out of the area where Brian shot his figuring they would be back in there but nada. Decided I needed to go to an area that I had shot an archery pig in 2 seasons ago. Got there at about 5:15pm and started walking and glassing rather hastily trying to roust something up before dark. Get into it about 15 minutes and put my glasses up on top of the hill and see some pigs! I made my way up to them and got about 80-100 yards and see one looking right at me so I took him out with the ole 30-06! Ended up dragging him out in the dark through cacti and down a VERY steep hill with no light but a headlamp. Anyway had a dang good time and was reminded why I keep putting in for javelina year after year, they are a absolute riot to hunt! Next year though it will be back to the archery equiptment. Hope you like the pics!

    most recent finds

Wow that is quite a few sheds! Would you mind telling where you found them? Not your area but what type of locations (fencelines, trails, waterholes, etc.) I have found a few sheds but can never really work out if there is any type of pattern or not.

    Long range rifles?

Good info man I will consider all of it. I was even thinking of just bettering my scope on my 30-06 for now just to see if it will help me shoot a hair better.

    Taxidermist Help

When I had mine done recently my taxidermist instructed me to make a small cut and pull as much of the guts out that I could and he would do the rest. Since you already have him frozen I don't think it really matters if the guts are out or not, just take him in frozen and you will be fine. Good job on the yote and I hope you call in many more!

    Long range rifles?

What military sniper school are you refering to? I attended the army sniper school and we shot to 925m only one day. Most shooting was 600m and in with occasional shots out to 800m. As for the 300 win, I know of a few navy guys using that calibur (and a few troops using the 50bmg & .338 lapua) but for the vast majority of military snipers, the .308 win is the only option available. Keep this in mind, you can have the finest hammer in the world, but it is only as good as the man swinging it. ie master the skills in shooting with what you have. Once you've mastered the skill, you will be a lot more in the know about calibur selection, then you can make the decision for yourself instead of investing a few grand in a rifle/scope based off of a strangers advise. I've read in the past, comments from those who like to take potshots at LR hunters. Personally, I bow hunt and in doing so, my goal is to get as close to game as possible for the shot. When I rifle hunt, I want the ability to shoot as far as possible. That is why I practice every week at the rifle range. I'm not saying that I would move further from my target, but it's nice knowing that if the conditions are right, I can make that LR shot. Matt, do you reload? If you don't I highly suggest that you start. I don't know any LR shoots that don't dedicate a lot of time in mastering the skill of reloading. Nesika action + Nightforce scope + Ken Farrell rings/base + Lilja barrel + McMillan stock = one awsome rifle....add garbage ammo and your stick is no better something you pull stock off of the shelf. No I do not reload but I figured that I definately will have to start with this new gun/hobby. Thanks for your input I appreciate it. I have been learning alot lately searching the web and talking to people so I don't just jump into something that I don't know chit about.
