    Small outboard repair

Does anyone on here do small outboard motor repair? I don't know crap about them . I have a 5 horse Johnson/ Evenrude that acts like its fowling out. When you try to run it top speed . I put new plugs in it and no difference. It runs excellent idling. Any suggestions.

Exactly . It's a pain in the butt to spend all kinds of money, just to go. Then motor problems. And stuck with a trolling motor only. Not bad at Talkalai lake. But suck know matter what

Thank you. I can fix pretty much any lawn mower motor. Weed eater etc. just never a boat motor. It's a oldie but clean as a pin inside and out. 1962 Johnson/Evenrude

Brand new fuel line and filter. Thought maybe I lost a cylinder. Checked compression in both cylinders and all is good. It idles perfect and runs on slow setting. But when you try to give it full throttle it bogs down and acts like its loading up . running 50:1 ratio

How did everyone who went this weekend do? Dad and I fished all day yesterday for Bass. I started fishing at 6 am. And by 9 am I limited out on crappie. Dad showed up at 9:30 and We headed to the river end. And it was not a disappointment. We caught fish from 10:00 to 6:30 non stop . A average of a fish about every 20 minutes or less. No Giants. But plenty of 4,5, and even a 6.8 pound bass. Dad threw a spinner bait most the day. And a occasional Sinco on missed fish on the spinner bait. He ended up with 17 and the two biggest bass. The 6.8 and a 5.4. I threw a lucky craft red crawdad colored square billed medium size crank and never changed. Retied numerous times. But stuck with what was working. Figured if I was catching them why change. I ended the day with 13. My biggest was 4.11 . Every fish was over 2 pounds. . Caught enough Crappie to have a big fish fry. After filleting them I probably have close to 30# of fillets. Will be catch and release from now on. At least until after they spawn. Hope everyone had as good time as We have. Top water bite was great this morning.

Talkalai is my favorite. For big bass. They love the soft creature baits there. And frogs on top water . Giant fish in there. Point of the pines is absolutely a beautiful drive into and beautiful lake. Elk,turkey and a occasional bear are common to see. My great grandpa was married to a lady named Sue Begay. She was from there. And all threw the late fifty's and thru the sixty's my grandpa spent most his time up there. I've been all over the San Carlos reservation. And have always came back with great memory's. My Dad still says he's going to find the biggest ugliest woman up there and marry her. That away no one else will want her and he can move in and live happy on the Rez. And hunt and fish daily. I keep reminding him this isn't the 1800s. My family has definitely reaped the rewards over the years from the San Carlos reservation. Many elk hunts, bear hunts and always a blast up by the point of pines for predators. Coyotes everywhere the wild horse are.

I was near the dam. Where i was anchored, a person could actually walk up to, and camp there. Or bank fish. It would be a little hike down to the water . But do able. I have always caught fish in that cove. Biggest bass I have ever seen my Dad caught there. A 13.11 caught on top water.

I tried everything I could up until 1:30 to get a crappie bite. Only one on a jerk bait. Once I finally just anchored and just sat with a bobber and a minnow. The bite was on. Fish after fish. At 4:30 when I left . The bite was so good ,I probably could have caught 30 or 40 more. If I had more minnows. I took 6 dozen. And used everyone of them.

Thank you. I started fishing at 5:30 am this morning. Second cast on a ivory colored Rio Rico and fish on.A really fat 4 pound large mouth. Caught 3 more on top water all around 2.5 to 3. Then switched to jerk bait. A black and gold Rouge.and never put it down again. Fished for Bass until 1:30. While all the time dragging a minnow along. Nothing on the minnows. Ended up catching 7 more on the jerk bait. Biggest looked like a watermelon. Man the bass are fat there. Big giant belly and lots of girth. The wind got up so got tired of fighting it. And headed to my crappie cove. From 1:45 to 4:30 I caught 30 crappie . Brought 25 to fillet and just finished. . What a awesome day. Tomorrow will be even better for the bass. .now that I kind a know what the want. ANYTHING That looks or reacts like a minnow or shad. I did catch 4 on a bobber too. Biggest crappie was 2.7 bass caught on ultra light rod with bobber and minnow. 5.8

I won't know until tomorrow. Going Friday thru Monday. I will post a report then. . I have a empty front seat on Friday and Saturday. If your up there or if anyone else is and wants to fill it . Hit me up and I will find a way to make it work. My boat ain't no Cadillac. Just something that floats and gets you to point Ato B... It is better then being stuck on the bank. Sometimes 😆

There's always a good night bite there . Even late in the summer. As long as they keep water in it. . there's a cove near the dam area that is really good at night. And the river end is pretty good too.

Thank you. My boat dang sure has its share of Arizona boat rash. Not afraid of Scratches. And I haven't seen a ramp there since the late 80s. Next to the sheriff dock. Years ago. The first time my Dad remembers that he went to san Carlos was in 1970 . He was 8 .
