Travel management - what are YOU going to do?

Just got back from 5B south. Forest Service visited our area and our campsite while I was out hunting. I would have loved to talk to him as the "closed roads" had numerous camps on them. The guys in our camp he talked to had no idea of the new rules. He was just concerned that there was a hunter in camp for each RV as he stated they could not be left on site if a hunter returned to town to work or something. He must take the RV with him. He also cautioned about campfire care and went on to the other Elk camps in the area. All "closed roads" were not marked and heavily traveled and camped on. He did nothing about them. We camped across from a "closed road". 3 camps on it with in site of ours. My camp buddies stated he chatted with them, but they never moved their camp. Maybe a warning?

    Swhacker Broadhead Deal

I am happy with my shwackers. Hit a cow elk at 75 yds. Arrow penetrated about 12 - 14"s, cow ran 140yds and dropped dead. There was an ok blood trail for only an entrance and no exit, but I didn't need it as I just found her with my binocs. When I opened up her chest and abd she was loaded with GALLONS of blood. The blade did a number on her innards. I can't imagine how the blades not opening, mine sure did. When the shrink wrap is removed they drop right open. And when it hit her POW! it was loud. I mean really loud.

    practice

Up till now, 3 X a week. about 3 or 4 dozen a session. But now it's July and I have bout 10 weeks till Elk. Gonna pick up the pace. It also helps that I have some acreage so I just step out the garage door and can shoot multiple ranges, as close or far as I want.
  6. I replaced the factory wheels on my 2010 Silverado 2500 with some custom alumimums. So I would like to sell the factory rims that came with the truck. They are a nice upgrade from the stock steel wheels and are in perfect condition, including the caps and extra lug nuts. These are 16" rims. I have them on craigslist for $300, but for my fellow Couse fanatics, $250. Chevy changed the bolt pattern in 2011 so I know they will not fit an 8 lug chevy after 2010. Not sure how far back they will fit but a quick call to a tire shop or dealer will confirm if they will fit. I don't have a problem meeting up and helping slap one on for a test fit. Just pm me! if interested or with any questions.... a couple pics

Told my 11 year old son a few days ago that I got drawn and he didn't because of the cc hit. I forgot that I put his app on another card. Bingo. Got to make his day this AM. 6A youth hunt! That's him in my avatar with his first coues! I'll be in 5B chasing cow again, then come home, wait 2 weeks and do it again. Awesome.

    Fletchings

I have used the biscuit for years and use the blazer vanes. They are much thicker than most and never get all wrinkly from the biscuit. They fly great. Shorter than most vanes but they are also taller.

    Javy Boar Attacks Caller!

Good example on how well calling works. Most of my hunting buddies look at me all wierd when I pull it out. The trick is to stop blowing when they start showing up and let them cool off so you can put a stalk on. Works great if you miss a shot as well...they will come on back and let you give it another go. Can't fool 'em more than twice though, then they run for texas!

    Vortex Viper 15 x 50s'?

I've had the Viper 15 X 50 (non hd) for a couple of seasons. Got a smoking deal online, ($399) at eagle optics, as they phased them out for the HD model. I would not be happy with them for what was then retail ($750) but for what I paid, can't be happier. +'s No eye fatigue, size / weight, warranty, quality, price I paid. -'s smallish field of view, edges of sight window a little fuzzy, not the best in very low light, can't freehand them worth a darn even with bino buddies. I keep them in my pack for tripod use only. Wear some 8X leupolds for neck wear, while mobile. would be curious to look thru the HD's. I have gone side ny side compared against the Kaibabs. They held their own unless dusk or dawn.

    Santa Rita Copper Mine

From the Rosemont Web site, for what it's worth. http://rosemontcopper.iapplicants.com/ "Construction of Rosemont Copper is expected to employ workers 10 hours per day, five days a week over 18 months. Employee levels will increase to about 125 in the second month and will peak at about 900 in the seventh month. Peak employment will be maintained for about five months. As construction is completed, the number of jobs will decline to about 225 by month 16 with 45 staff wrapping up the work by the last month. " So it sounds like the 40 number is accurate for construction jobs that won't be temporary. As far as actual miners their numbers fluctuate depending on what web page of theirs you are on. They say "thousands". A little inflated I think. They are probably counting the truck sales people and off site mechanics etc...
