  1. Had a good time despite the heat and the crowded conditions in 34A. Glassed 4 bucks..1 respectable. Couldn't close the deal on any. One of the highlights was picking my 6 year old up at the bus stop after school on the quad and riding out to glass for the afternoon. He was always ready. Of course he would only glass hard for a few min but played quietly while I looked. I could always remotivate him with glance at a doe through my binocs.....here are a couple of pics for you to enjoy of our next generation at work...only 3 1/2 years till his first jr couse hunt......Those familer with 34A will recognize the mountain in the background of shot #1. I am a new member and have enjoyed the site, stories, and photos a lot. Hope you all had a safe, enjoyable hunt. See ya out there for the December bowhunt. This is a shot of last years since I wasn't a member didn't get to share.....the pose is sort of funny as it was a self portrait and the hill was really, really steep. It was also a lot cooler last November.

    Bow recomendations

Two words : ARCHERY RESEARCH. The company is a division of PSE. I shoot an AR 34. Quick, quiet, forgiving. Everyone is right, go to a proshop and shoot some... Start with an upper end bow...otherwise you will be shopping again after a season or two.

    First Coues

    Awesome!
  7. Had almost the same thing happen Sat morning in 34A near Helvetia. Got there plenty before dark, pulled over off the road on my quad and hiked a mile or so to a nice high point between two canyons....a hour later 4 hunters dressed in blaze orange head to toe pulled over and parked next to my qued, jumped the fence in the same spot and headed straight to "my hill". Of couse about that time I glassed up a small 3X, about 600 yards away. The first buck I've seen the whole hunt. Why I dont know but a few seconds after glassing up that buck one of my tripod legs collapsed. I quickly fixed it but lost the buck. I stood up and was plainly seen by the approaching hunters, who prompltly sat down and started glassing the canyon wall I was....5 min later they glass up the buck and one of them heads straight up to it......after a few min, the buck sees whats up and runs...with the hunter blazing away.....of course at this point I was cheering on the deer. I didn't even get a chance to daydream about stalking that buck.....oh well...maybe tommorow. I have the rest of the week off and I sholdn't have much competition during the work week.
