amazing story. thanks. -
nice buck. my first shot on my biggest WT was a little back (much like yours) since he was on the move. It's all in the experience.

wow. great job. what unit did they harvest those?
-
crap, forgot about range finder, camera and a little spiral notebook and pencil. On my hip I keep my multitool and a good fixed bladed knife (Morakniv).

When I scout, I don't pack the things I use like skinning knives, game bags, tag, etc. I do kind of over pack. I have a medic pack that I use, so I fill it up. 2 MRE's, water, gloves, extra pair of socks, hat, signal mirror, extra batteries, flash light, flint/steel, first aid pack, machete, parachord, map, compass, baby wipes, coyote call, radio, map, one road flare, some snacks, rain poncho, florescent tape, binos....... I even have a jungle hammock and tarp, just in case I have to spend the night. Too much and too heavy, but it's fun. I use my Ruger .308 Hawkeye carbine when scouting, since it's shorter and always have my side arm.

I hunt there a lot. There are deer there. Just south of the BP check point, there a FS road that leads to "Kentucky Camp" and "Gardner canyon". Take that West until you hit the foothills. It continues up a very steep hill and then you can loop around and look at Fish Canyon. That being said, there are a lot of deer, but they hang out high when there is pressure or it's hot. I'm going scouting in a few days, so I'll let you know what we see. Good luck.

34A Coues Hunt Nov. 29-Dec 7
Distance replied to longbowpilot's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I've hunted there 3 times and brought one home each time. I head down the road leading to Kentucky Camp, Gardner canyon. It loops around and you can also head out through Fish Canyon, south of there. I've seen some big deer up in there. they hang out kind of high, but it's easy access. -
You'll see them long before you see them. Walk slow. Be quiet. You'll be fine....

Incredible buck. Man, you are not kidding, a blessing indeed. Post like this make me want to bow hunt. Thanks for posting.
