Where can I buy black powder locally?

Thanks for the responses guys. I called Bass pro and they are out of it. I still haven't even been in Bass Pro yet, that would have given me a reason to finally go. Didn't even think about them carrying it. P.M. sent on the Swiss. Nice looking rifle and figure on it Walking W. Very cool picture.
  2. I didn't do a lot of research but hopefully someone on here can tell me where to go, well politely at least The places I called only sell Substitute and I already own and use Pyrodex which has worked flawlessly in my cap side locks. I plan on getting drawn for the H.A.M. hunt I put in for in Feb. and need to shoot my T/C Flintlock Renegade soon I bought last year. From what I have read and heard I should be getting GOEX, and I need FFG for the main charge and FFFG for the primer in the pan. I looked at trackofthewolf.com and they only sell it in 1 lb. cans and boxes of 25 (25lbs. at a time). Don't think I'l need quite that much. Maybe someone on here has some or can help me out as to where to go. Thank you!

Sig Sauer with night sights .40 ****sold, please delete*****

Deal pending, trying to work out the details and pick up.
  8. I have a Sig Sauer P239 in .40 cal with a .357 Sig barrel in great shape. I have only put a few hundred rounds through it. I bought it for my PDC pistol a few years back, but just don't use it enough. This is your chance to get a gun and bullets. Don't be that kid that gets his remote control car at Christmas that nobody bought batteries for I have a total of 3 clips that will take either the .40 cal or .357 Sig cal. The barrels interchange very quickly so you can have 2 guns in one. This is a single stack magazine and makes it a 7+1. Slimmer design for PDC. The Sigs are Stainless Steel so you don't have to worry about corrosion. Items included are as follows 2 barrels .357 Sig and .40 Tactical paddle holseter 3 clips Gun case Bullets .40 cal total = 134 rounds qty 6 Hydroshock bullets for defensive carry qty 100 165 gr. Winchester fmj. target/range qty 28 180 gr. American Eagle fmj .357 Sig cal total = 265 rounds qty 150 Master Cartridge 125 gr. fmj qty 95 Winchester 125 gr fmj qty 20 Blazer 125 gr tmj I am sure there is $150.00 in ammo that I paid initially, no telling what it is going for now. Haven't had to buy in a few years... thank goodness! Close to 200.00 for the extra barrel 40.00 for the extra Sig clip around 55.00 for the tactical paddle holster Asking $750.00 for all That makes the gun only around 350.00 (if I was selling separate). I can meet at Cabelas in the evenings this week. I will expect a valid AZ drivers license and get this number for my records and the bill of sale, no exceptions. I will not sell the ammo separate, please do not ask. Not really looking for trades, need to sell everything outright.

    spotting scope troubles

I will have to agree with double D I can glass all day with my 10's on a tripod too. I get some motion sickness when I use my Swaro 15's on a tripod unless I use slow fluid motion in a grid pattern, but can glass this way for a few hours if needed. When it comes to a spotter they are used to identify and get a closer look at what is already glassed up,(but just in my opinion). Use your binos to glass and find the animals, then pull out the spotter to identify if it is worth going after. My spotter never comes out of the pack unless I need a better look. You'll be much better off and have a lot more patience. Using a bandana or an eye patch willdefinitely help as well.

Sig Sauer with night sights .40 ****sold, please delete*****

Need to sell all together, won't have a use for a holster or ammo that I don't have a gun for. I actually thought the ammo would have made the sale the gun.

    bow sling

I use the Primos as well, I like it. I have a buddy that pretty much always has it on. The nice thing about it is that it snaps over and around your string and protects it. I'll usually just throw that on when going to the range or while its riding in the truck to protect the string, instead of a bow case.

    game cam video

Dang! That buck is acting silly. I think I said "holy crap" out loud a few times as the Nitro kicked in for him. They are too funny in their natural state sometimes. Nice job on capturing that video. Thanks for sharing.

That is a great buck for sure! Thanks for sharing. That bear looks just like the one I'll have in my sights on opening day, may see you up there. Make sure to save that buck for me for Jan 1st ok? If not we'll have to put a tape on him when you get him on the ground.

    help tuning bow

I know how you feel, that can be terribly frustrating. Make sure you are not torquing your bow and have a relaxed grip and are not grabbing at the bow. The tiller is actually not all that important to be the same top and bottom. You can actually have one limb adjusted more or less than the other and will shoot fine. I do this to actually fine tune my bow and will help the bow to hold better or worse. Don't bother with the alignment of your blades. I used to when I shot aluminums because it was easy and that was the "in thing", but really didn't see a difference. You said you paper tuned it. Were you getting a perfect bullet hole with your field tips? Broadheads? Your arrows could still be flying semi erradic and the vanes could be correcting your arrow flight, after all that is what they are made to do. When you throw broadheads on they like to show your bows tuning imperfections. Since you are able to paper tune do yourself a favor and strip an arrow or two of the vanes so you have a bare shaft. Step back about 8-12 feet and shoot a few arrows through paper and redo your paper tune. If you bare shaft paper tune an arrow and are able to get bullet holes, then just think how well they will fly when fletched! Which G5 broadheads are you shooting? I have shot both the Montecs and the Strikers. The Montecs are the best flying broadhead I have shot to date. The Strikers fly VERY well also, and that is what I use. The next thing I would do vs. aligning your broadheads is spin test your arrows with your broadheads on them and make sure there is no wobble, this can affect things. Honestly, once I get my bare shaft paper tune to shoot bullet holes I never have problems and it is amazing just how well the bow shoots after that. Hope this helps and keep us posted.

    whats your range?

Typically not more than 65 yards, + or - depending on conditions and how I feel that day. I may not know until I draw, try to settle in and may only be 30 yards, but I'll usually practice out to 100 yards. It is typically for practice only and seems to help me be that much more stable and confident at half that distance.

    The buck that got away.

Oh man, that sucks big time! Even though I read your title "the buck that got away" I was blind sided and still was waiting for the shot any second. The only difference between you and I on that is I would have got the shot but would still have hit an unseen branch (which I have on video and still depresses me, I actually gave up hunting for a few months after that and thought I was done for good) , scope moved, got water in scope and caused reticle to droop, bullet stuck in chamber when shell was ejected causing gun to be unavailable in the field due to someone elses reloading, sling came apart and scope hit rock as I was throwing it over my shoulder and gun falling and putting HUGE dent in scope and getting multiple shots later in the seated position and nowhere close to buck, and many other things that have plagued and cursed me throughout the years . Great video and I was truely depressed to see that big boy turn and book, great buck for sure. I unfortuanately know all too well how you must feel, as I have experienced that more than I care to admit. Thank you for sharing your story and video!

    Game Cam

+3 W/ the last 2. Don't put it on a quad trail or right in the open and easily visible. Try to put it in a place that it would be "pure chance" if someone walked by or found it. I usually put my cams within 2.5 to 4.5 feet off the ground so I am at the level of the game. I prefer the pics this way. Have put a few higher than 5 feet but just more area specific than anything. While up high in the tree they are much harder to spot. I always lock my cams! I have put a note or 2 on my cams over the last few years. I say something like, "please respect my cam/hunt and leave it untouched as I would yours. Thank you" then leave my name and cell phone number. Not sure if this would stop some P.O.S. theif/scumbag but made me feel better and at least give them the chance to think about what they are about to do. But then again I heard a story where a guy I met told me he left a note and number on his game cam. Some creeps stole it and called his voice mail a few times and left disprespectfull messages just to rub in the fact they stole his cam and were not remoresfull whatsoever I have gotten 4-5 people on my cams over the years. I still have all my cams to date, thank goodness! Only 2 or 3 have actually seen em. I ran into a couple of hunters last year that saw my game cam in 24B, got pics of em and left it untouched. I ran into them while heading to check cam. They made it a point to state they saw it but did not mess with it. Looking at the pics they were right. If I can I will try to put brush over the tops of my cams, that I cut off from the tree to help camo them and block the light from the sides. The less likely some starnger sees the luck.cams the less likely they will mess with it. Good

    3d Camo/Ghilly Suits

Good question. I bought a Ghillie from Sportsmans Warehouse a few years ago, (actually a B-day gift that I HAD TO HAVE.)! I am sure we all know how that goes. This thing is crazy looking while on. I mean I could stand up flat against against someones wall of their house beside or behind a shrub or some kind of plant and you probably wouldn't be able to determine it is a person, don't believe me? Give me adress and I may surprise you J/K.... but seriously..... This suit camo's very well and I'll try to find a pic of me wearing it. Pro's Camo's very well Breaks up your outline completely Pieces of material are around 6-8" long, really helping with camo and blending in to a natural type environment Cons Bulky, about the size of a medium sized backpacking pad, only want to throw on after spotting an animal and when you start your stalk HOT! It is a lot of material and I would not reccomend it for an AZ August hunt below 5,000' or so. With all the material hanging it is a Cat Claw and Mesquite MAGNET!!!!! Found out the hard way this year. The arm will interfere with your bowstring if not trimmed down or wearing an arm guard, learned from experience My suit is basically a top that goes down to about mid shins (maybe just below the knees). I have a hat that has all the Ghille frills hanging off them 360* I need to trim around my eyes and face so it does not interfere anymore. They also make shin attachments for 100% (minus shoes) body coverage, but only opted for only the hat and body suit. I usually use it for coyote calling or just kepping it in the truck just in case. In January I spotted a pretty respectable Mulie and decided to go after him. I threw on the Ghille and proceeded to get after him. I have the hat and top that covers down to just below the knee. I worked my way through cat claw and mesquites. Man this thing caught every single cat claw and mesquite within a 1/2 mi. (or at leat it felt like it). After approx. 45 min. I finally came over a small hill after climbing out of the wash. I knew the buck was right there. As I came up out of the wash the sandy bank gave and rocks tumbled down into the wash making all kinds of noise and SUPER loud crashing. Up to the size of watermelons. The wind was good so I wasn't too worried, just needed to gain visual at this point. I popped over the hill and there were his does staring at me at about 45 yards. We looked at each other for about a minute while they blew and tried to regroup. Two does ran about 50 more yards and looked back trying to figure out just what the heck I was. The buck walked up just after that and saw me. Gave me plenty of time to use my Range Finder and get the shot. My shot slapped my arm something fierce and shot and wound up shooting way low. No biggie, was just happy the stalk work so well. I almost threw on an arm guard but typically have 0 sleeve interferance. I almost grabbed my longbow instead of my compound, maybe the results would have been different. Had I trimmed the arm previously or used an arm guard this dude would have been toast!!!!! It was a cool experience nonetheless. Those deer had no idea what the heck I was or what was going on. Even after I shot the first time the buck ran maybe thirty yards and decdided to stop again and take another look for more than 10 seceonds. Granted it is a Mulie, but neat regardless These things are great but have their place just like anything. Maybe a good median would be one of the leafy type 3-D suits. A buddy has one and are pretty cool. Just make sure you weigh your options and have your priorities in line. Good luck with your choice.

    cant wait!

Good job man, bet you're pumped! Looks like yer on em for sure. Great pics, thanks for sharing. I remember that feeling of my upcoming Bull hunt and checking cams regularly.... Too bad it's been so long, maybe next year huh? Do you have peanut butter on that one cam or something? Them elk sure look interested. Nice bear, hopefully he doesn't catch sight of it and decide to tear it down. Good luck on your hunt!

How to shed hunt using a game camera

Step 1. hang game camera on what appears to be a good spot. Step 2. Check game camera and see buck wearing head gear way too late in the season. Turn to your buddy and say " I can't beleive this deer still has his antlers"! Step 3. check next few pictures and see him back a few hours later wearing only 1 side. Step 4. Determine which direction you saw him coming from when he first appeared with only one antler Step 5. Go in the direction he came from on the cam when you can finally get back up there and find shed less than 30 yards from the camera! Check out his eyeguard, see how it is broke? That is how I can confirm for sure it is the same buck, compare it to the pic while he's still wearin it. I found the antler in less than a minute when I started looking for it. I was so pumped and I had been waiting about a month to get back up there and find his right side. It was getting close to dark and did not find his other side, but will try to find it next time up there. This is a super lucky occourance I am sure, and one of my most rewarding and memorable since I not only set out to find this buck, but his right side in an exact direction. Had I not have seen him back with only 1 antler a few hours later, I never would have gone the direction he came from and would never have found it.
