They would already have his card info. They charged him for an application fee. Chris's story is fishier than that trip we took to Crescent lake...
-
Yep, been snowing most of the day.

I think Chris is full of it John. If he applied and was next in line they would have just charged his card and would have no reason to call unless his card was jacked also. Calling and asking if someone wants a tag is not something the AZGFD would do. SO you can tell Chris Neuring I said he is full of it.

Every Largemouth bass west of the Mississippi comes from originally planted Florida strain. They are just boosting the genetics.

750 - 1000 wolves planned in Az; meeting planned this weekend

A timely April fool by the AZ Daily Sun. -
Praying mantis or some other large bug right on your lens.

The phones at AZGFD just ring and ring. No automated answer. Maybe they are uploading...

So did they address this outlandish 750-1000 wolves question? -
Looks like they are up and hungry! Good luck!

I am also a believer in the cheapo Rem Core-Lokt. Shot a bull at 328yds with 150gr Core-lokt and he dropped where he stood. Broadside through the elbow. Wife shot his buddy also 328yds hit the base of the neck and he fell right on his face. 30-06

April fools a little early? I just thoroughly search AZGFD.gov and the USFWS web pages for everything Mexican wolf and turned up nothing of the sort. They are going to add 4 wolves to replace the 4 that have been poached. I don't know where the 750-1000 number came from but it is ridiculous. I looked at the Monster Muleys thread and there is no real info there. Where did this meeting take place? Who was there (by name)? Fear mongering at it's finest. Be certain, I am no fan of the wolf project but this assertion is ridiculous. I'm not even sure there are 1000 Mexican Gray wolves in existence. Further searching reveals a lot of old info from enviro-wacko group who want that many wolves but their desires do not seem to be supported by USFWS. The enviros have been singing the 1000 wolves song since the 90's. Google is there for you. Use it! http://www.fws.gov/SOUTHWEST/es/mexicanwolf/index.cfm -
I've found elk in the OTC. Plenty of sign in the Winslow area but those elk move a lot in the salt cedars so they are hard to see. I have trail cam pics of some in the Camp Verde area just was never there at the same time as them. As mentioned above, it's all luck and being in the right place at the right time.

Keeping cops honest I suspect. I've thought about this myself.

How many animals have you harvested in Arizona
mr.smith replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in The Campfire
My paltry AZ list (Mind you I didn't hunt big game til I was 30) 2 Coues -rifle (I've only ever drawn 2 deer tags) 3 Javelina -Bow 1 Javelina -Rifle 1 Spring Turkey -Shotgun (I've only ever drawn 2 turkey tags) I've had 2 elk tags. 1 archery 1 late rifle. Didn't fill either. That's it. I've helped on 20+ kills with other people. Usually the draw does not like me. I hope to add elk and antelope to the list this year! I also killed a whitetail with my bow in Texas. -
I took my 8yr old nephew on the archery hunt with me a couple years ago. "Be a rock" He did it so well a cow almost licked his head(she was less than 3ft away). Little guy didn't budge because there was a bull in front of us. The buddy I was calling for wasn't able to make it happen but I bet my nephew remembers that set up forever.
-
My wife has 10 pt and I have 11. One of us now has just 1. It's either 4B or 19A rifle. 80% of the tags go to some lucky schlep. This year I or my wife was one of them.

Congratulations! Can't wait to see the story and pics in September!

I hate to see these posts because my boy is getting up there and close to the end too. So sorry for your loss. Dogs really are family.

want a killer discount on big name brands???
mr.smith replied to SwarovskiCoues's topic in The Campfire
Promotive is pretty sweet. I've bought trail cams off of there. -
Regardless of the bait question why would you not want 100% success? You set out in hopes of being successful. That is your goal, right? I'm not sure where you got the idea that feeders are big here. I've only ever come across two while hunting and that was before the bait ban. I think the bait ban is ridiculous. Animals don't need to eat your corn. They do need water. So how is sitting bait any more effective than sitting water? I've sat bait a couple times and have never shot anything over it. All I got for the effort was some nice trail cam pictures. But, as pointed out above the point is quite moot since the bait ban. Unfortunately, hauling water is much heavier than hauling corn. But if you want your own little 'private' hotspot you gotta make it worthwhile for the critters to be there.

Wife and I got elk tags, Likely early archery bull. One of us is antelope hunting either 4B or 19A. Pretty excited for September.

It is a food issue more than a numbers issue. Pretty complicated. Mostly midges to eat and midges don't make big fish.
-
April is a great time to go. The giant trout your dad remembers are not there anymore. Replaced by high numbers. If fly fishing bring lots of midges, scuds and eggs fished under an indicator with a small shot. If spinfishing small spinners or spoons as well as fishing flies under a float. Haul your camping gear upriver and camp up there. No permit needed. For fishing spots: 4 mile bar is good, 8 mile, Horseshoe bend, Duck Island, Ferry Swale, pretty much all of it. I usually see the most fish at Ferry Swale. Good luck!
