Don't forget your release or your tags. I've done both. Keep the wind in your face.

Which Josh are you looking for?
-
So it seems if you put your Name, Address, and Phone Number on it then they will leave it alone. Probably not a bad idea to have your contact info on your stuff anyway.
-
Get there first. Maybe he is looking for elk while you are looking for deer? Make sure your stuff is locked up and expect competition for the spot. Who knows, you might run into the guy and make a new friend...

Ok, so I will be sitting in a tree this year for the Archery deer season. I've never really hunted this way so it will be a challenge for me to stay put all day. I have concerns with shooting at a downward angle. How does it affect arrow flight? I have heard that I need to aim lower than I think. I plan to practice shooting from a ladder this week. I'll be using a climbing tree stand. Where do you put all your stuff? I imagine I would need some screw in hangers for my pack and my bow. What about lunch? I would think I'd want something that doesn't smell too strongly. Don't want to spook the deer. Any tips/advice any of you might have will be appreciated. Thanks

A buddy and I have a couple cams and stands out in a semi secluded area. We've been watching this site for the last six weeks or so and for the first time we got pictures of people. On Saturday three guys walked in. It seems they noticed the stand and a camera and then left the area without disturbing anything. We noticed a stand and cam about halfway in. I suspect that it belongs to one of them. They are a good distance away from our stuff and in a pretty good spot, a nice travel corridor. I just wanted to say thank you for respecting our space and good luck to those guys. Hopefully we run in to each other at the parking area and get a chance to chat. Three more days guys. I can hardly wait!

Looks like a 90+ inch forky. Very Nice!

Thanks for all of the great replies. The last time I was in a tree stand it was a near death experience. It was a climbing stand and the bottom platform collapsed on me while I was setting it. I did not have a harness on. Fortunately my grip on the top piece held and I was able to shimmy down the tree like a Hawaiian on a coconut palm. Scary situation. That was a decade ago in North Carolina. Never made it a full day there either. I'm going to give it a try but think I may change up to a ground blind. We'll see. Thanks -Josh

Anybody Hunting AZ Bear this Week?

Well, in that case, have a safe trip and watch out for the Texas State troopers. Those guys are ball busters. Good luck on the hunt! -

I'm going to go glass the morning. I haven't seen any in scouting though. Got one on a cam on one day last week but he was a little feller and only passed that way once. -
Seems to me they are going to send you one broadhead. I guess five bucks isn't bad for a broadhead.

At my wedding we did engraved mugs. I have received a flask and mag light from other wedding. Knives are good too.
-
No worries.
-
I'll take it if nobody else has claimed it. Thanks.

Put them in the mail Friday.

I'm not good at judging but I'll say 105 even.

I think the high numbers of whitetail tags in the southern units is what results in the leftovers, not border issues. Otherwise there would be leftover muley tags down there too, and that just doesn't happen.
-
I saw a little raghorn bull try to mount a cow yesterday. She wasn't having it. Heard lots of little squeaker bugles. The elk are practicing up for the main event.

The unit WM should contact you before long. If you don't hear anything or if you want to get a jump on it email Gunnar Erickson at the Kingman office. GErickson@AZGFD.gov He's a great guy and will be able to point you in the right direction.

Call and talk to a person. If they screwed up and you didn't get your chance you may be entitled to a freebie. I know a guy who got a sheep tag that way. Game and Fish screwed up and he ended up getting all of his tags for the year (that was before they separated the draws) Deer elk antelope and sheep. So if they did indeed screw up and cause you to lose your opportunity you could score a deer tag and a sheep tag out of the deal.
