I have never bought a new barrel, but I am starting to get sick of shooting my magnums without a break. I have 7mag, that kicks like a mule. I put an HS Stock on it, and a timney trigger, so I am reluctant to sell it. I still have the stock barrel on it, and now I want to put a muzzle break on it. The gun is a weatherby vanguard, and I also have another 7 mag that is bone stock and has never been shot. I am torn on whether to: A: Buy a new barrel, and put a break on it. B: Build up the Remington, and ditch the weatherby action. If I should buy a new barrel, which one/break? and how much can I look to spend on a new barrel with brake installed by a gunsmith? I am pretty inexperienced at this, but I like to shoot this gun a lot, so I would like to cut the recoil down. Thanks for your input.

It has been 4 years since I was there, but I do not remember having to buy a license to fish in the ocean.

Great picture, is that in the park? I have seen them twice outside the park boundary.

+1 on the coffee. I did quite a bit of snorkeling, and there are a lot of different species of fish right offshore. One Afternoon we decided to try and fish from shore, and what a blast. I spoke with the locals, and they taught me how to actually catch fish from shore. We tied balloons onto our lines, and was able to get our lines out to deeper water with ease. We ended up catching 5-6 hammerhead sharks, and a few travoli. I think they were called travoli. The hammerheads were all between 2-4 ft. long and were a riot to catch. I had one that I reeled in halfway, and then a huge tug on my line, and I reeled up half of a 3 ft. hammerhead. Kauai was beautiful, and a lot more low key than Maui or the big island. Enjoy your trip!!

Buy a new barrel or buy a new gun?

Appreciate all the info guys. Average joe, I prefer my bell and Carlson stocks over the HS. I am not sure which is a better stock, but the feel of the Carlson seems to fit me best. I am really leaning toward building up the Remington, which barrel/break would you guys choose? -
Sent you a PM "Heat." Glad to see that most "bashers" have enough respect to not use this story as gasoline in their fire against AZGFD.

Buy a new barrel or buy a new gun?

My other dilemma I forgot to mention was: I have around 700 rounds down the factory barrel, so I was thinking that if I buy a break, I might as well put it on a new barrel as well. Am I wrong on this thought process? -
Nice Red, I have never caught one, but I can imagine they fight well with that big ole' tale. Reminds me of a white seabass, and they are a riot to catch when they get over 20 lbs.

This is taking the Game and fish "bashing" too far. Have some respect! Clearly it was an accident, you do not know all the details, and someone was seriously injured. Clearly you are the low of low to worry about money, rather than an officer's safety/ well being after being involved in a serious accident.

Swhackers for bull elk? Updated testing..
123456 replied to TOBY's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
As stated a few posts above, if you make a good shot and your broadhead hits where you need it to, the Elk will die no problem. Too many times, people blame broadheads for poor shots. Seems like they always make a "perfect" shot, and then do not find their elk. On elk, if you hit shoulder on the entrance, it really doesnt matter what head you have, you just need to get lucky. Good luck on your hunt. -
Looks like a young lion or female. Nice picture. Very good resolution on it.

I do not think the highway is shut down. I think you are thinking of the highway between the Gap and Page.

No picture for me

Wow you must have a sweet deal with your scrapper. Last time we sold our scrap it was about $110 per ton. But to someone who has use for it it could go for a lot more. Steel is around 200$ per ton right now.

So now with our tag prices it is like buying a car? They start out ridicoulously high because they know we are going to beat them down to a lower price. That's it, this tears it.

Unit 10 has a bunch of private land as well. Outfitters pay the ranch owners and they get access.

Go around Mt. Ord in 22, you will undoubtably see atleast a deer, and probably many more. Look both on the mountain and the surrounding valleys at the base and in-between 4 peaks. Lots of deer and usually semi- easy to spot. Good luck. Oh by the way this is in 22

Trail Cameras, You got to love the things they can catch

Good to hear a thief get caught. Too bad he will only get a slap on the wrist and not a slap in his teeth. We can only hope that one day the justice that he deserves will be served. I believe that Karma will one day inflict far more damage to him than our Justice system will. Congrats to your neighbor for catching a crook, and great way to use those cameras in the off season. -
I do not own one, but I recently bought a new bow and considered the Elite's. I shot the top bows from Mathews, Bowtech. hoyt, Elite and PSE. I chose the Mathews over all. They seem to offer the least amount of hand shock after the shot, and IMO are the most quiet bows on the Planet. I went with the Monster Chill, and I have been very happy with the results.

185 Gr. Berger VLD's with RL-17 pushing it. I have Found this to be a very accurate load, so long as you load to maximum magazine length. I had a hard time getting the TTSX 180's to get a good group out of my 300 WSM.

Dirty tactics once again from the AZGFD! Now you'll know why to never trust them

Mr. Wagner was clear in that he was only going to post once. If you have questions for him, I would give him a call. Let him know what you think. -

I would be willing to bet that more animals are wounded with guns than bows.... Address the matter at hand and do not add fuel to a fire that doesn't need to be started.
