Just thought I would brighten a few people's day. I took hunter safety class yesterday, ( to get that all so important bonus point.) and the instructor told us some great info. He told the class, that this year there was almost a 20% drop off of applications turned in. This was in comparison to last year, and last year was down from the year before. What this means is that we all have a much better chance of getting drawn and that the economy sux.

I do not agree that trophy hunting has hurt the number of hunters in the field. If anything it has given some of the smaller bucks a chance to grow older and spread their genes. In todays' world the biggest enemy is the economy. When money is scarce, the first thing to go is your "play" money.

Well I guess I opened a huge can of worms here. It's great to see the discussion of why the number of hunters have declined. As far as the woods being too crowded, I rarely have any problems. Unfortunately, too many hunters do not want to leave the roads or a certain area. For instance, I used to hunt big bug mesa in 20a. There is always a bunch of deer in there and used to be less people. Since there was a huge increase in hunting pressure, I had to change my strategy. I now let everyone hunt on "top" and I hunt from the bottom up. In other words, if an area gets too much pressure for humans, it is often too much for animals. They will move to other places, usually further back in the wilderness. I am not saying there isn't animals where all the pressure is. My experience is only to adapt to your situation and think outside the truck. I agree that AZGFD has gone the wrong way with their quantity over quality for hunts. Unfortunately, the "average" hunter would rather go hunting more often, rather than have a great tag. Most guys are tickled to death just to harvest the animal listed on their tag. An antlered bull hunt, just means you have to get one with an Antler. Anything above that is an added bonus. At any rate, my rambling must stop and I am just glad I have a better chance at drawing a tag this year. P.S. During that above mentioned hunter safety class, I had the instructor tell us that you were only able to shoot a bow from a treestand in ARizona. I have never heard that, and do not believe it true. I do not rifle hunt much anyway, but just can not fathom a law like that. anyone know for sure that this is law?

Very nice bull. Looks like his fronts are short and his beam length is also short. Good mass, I say 331 1/8.

Sounds like a chicken #@## move to me. Atleast we know who wears the pants in that family.

I like the layout. If it were me, I would add some kind of Clearance section or closeouts. I know that I like to find deals on stuff that I really do not need, but the deal is too good to pass up. Other than that I think it looks great.

I have shot a few broadheads. I have chosen Wac'em 3 blade and love them. They have a small cut, but fly like bullets out to 80 yards. Instead of worrying so much about which broadhead to shoot, worry about hitting what you aim at. Shot placement is everything. People blame broadheads too much for losing game. The truth is, that if you hit your game in the lungs, it will die quickly. Even with a field point ( if they were legal.) Bottom line is Practice, Practice and Practice again.

I was helping some buddies in 20B, we got 1.5. 1 pig was hit, however we were unable to recover. Things are tough as nails and even a 50cal if placed wrong will not stop em. Lots of pigs both days, just lousy shooters.

Hard to tell from that picture, I would say around a 160 frame, but with weak back on one side possibly both, some where around 145-155." Nice buck with good mass and decent spread.

Are they still for sale?

There is no reason to be worried about this magazine giving up your secret (spots). If you people who are complaing were real hunters, you would not have any worries of this magazine knowing your SECRET spots. I am sure that this mag will not tell people about a 3 mile hike around a mountain, up a hill and to a secret GPS location. Get real. They might however, give a road # which will probably be a 10-20 mile long road and tell them this is a good place to start. So if you consider a road your honey hole sucks to be you. Go to game and fish's website and look at the info they give you, They tell you good lakes, ponds and rivers to duck hunt on. If there is any shortage of honey holes it is duck hunting. They tell you abnout 70 % of them. Well just quit your crying and get out in the field. Oh yeah if you see CSH on the back of some guys truck don't tell him there are any animals there. He might publish your cordinates. Get Real losers. CSH will be a good magazine
