NICE buck!!! Nets are for fish

Nice deer! Sometimes you need a little luck in order to seal the deal.

I just bought a pound of this stuff and am planning on trying it out in my 300wsm. I have both the 185bergers and the 180 TTSX barnes. I have always been a big fan of the Barnes bullets, but I guess I have given into the berger bug as well. Seems lots of people shoot them and have had good experience with them. They are nearly 15$ more per 50 than the Barnes!!!! I read that this RL17 should give me more velocity and was designed with the short magnum cases in mind. If anyone has some knowledge of this powder or its' pro's or con's I would love to hear them. Also lots of the recipes I have seen use a standard primer and not a magnum. I plan on using GM215M primers and have had great luck with them in the past. Seems odd to me to switch to not as hot of a primer? Thanks for any pointers you give me and I appreciate your responses.

Anyone have any experience with RL17?

Seems there are different opinions on this powder. L Cazador, if I choose to reload a few rounds with this powder, will I experience pressure issues or just bad accuracy? I have read many different reviews of this powder online, and seems that a lot of people have had good results with 180 gr. bullets. If I use the magnum primer in a recipe that calls for standard, should I stay away from max load because of a potential pressure increase. I see people talk about flat primers, and then I looked at some of my spent federal premium rounds and they all have flat primers on them after shot. Is this normal? -
Nice buck, I would put him in the 150's. Good luck with him.

I do not know if this is the first time sighting in your 7 pin sight, but if it is, a common mistake is to start the whole sight bracket too high. What I like to do is adjust your 20 yard pin all the way up with the individual pin adjustment. Then use the entire sight bracket adjustment to get it sighted in properly. This will give your bow maximum adjustment. Be careful not to put your sight bracket too low and have fletchings hit the bottom of it. (common with 10 pin sights and some elongated 7 pin sights.) If you think there is a problem with the bow itself, take it to archery headquarters and have them chronograph it. That would be the only way to see if your arrow is flying slower than it should be. Hope this helps!

Nice!! that makes the bergers a much better deal than I thought. I must be oblivious today. I bought both and just assumed it was another pack of 50. WOW! thanks for the heads up -
Optimum Game Weight Calculation

seems to work, but I did input 500 nitro express ballistics and it still says it is not safe to kill an elephant or Rhino. If that will not kill them, i do not know what will. -
LOL!!!!! Nice buck. i am glad I have a laptop. It was easy for me to flip it over to view the pics. I will be the first to say and the story goes????

Zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50..... Best scope for the money. IMHO will blow any vortex of the water, dollar for dollar.. Long range clarity of the 2 is not really a competition. If you are serious about 1000 yards, be serious about spendng over 1000$ tho.

Nice!!! Was this a governor tag, or auction tag? Or is the general tag in November?

Boycott Sportsman's Warehouse?
123456 replied to Bravo's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Leave this alone... I made the same mistake, and trusted fox news. They said cabelas pulled their guns as well as Dick's. Welllll Turns out only Dick's pulled weapons and Cabelas nor Sportsman's did. This is just a very emotional issue to most and is easy to spread word without investigating source. Simple mistake, do not let it ruin your day. Now back to hunting in DECEMBER!!!! It's my second favorite thing to do right behind hunting in JANUARY!!!!!!!! -
Chuck Woolery is PREACHIN' IT!

Love it.. Preach on brotha!!! -
**** EDIT**** Only DIck's made this unbelievable move, sorry for the confusion, Fox news reported Cabelas and Dicks, and I believed them. I was fooled. These stores have suspended all sales of "assault type" rifles until Obama makes a decision? WTF is this all about. Support Sportsman's warehouse, they will support you. Unbelievable that our own stores have caved in. It had to be the gun that killed the students not the worthless scumbag behind it. I do not even own an "assault rifle" , but it really irks me to see these stores prematurely pull these guns off of their shelves. My heart goes out to the victims of any massacre, but ban the mentally incapable people from acquiring the guns not the guns.

This guy says 2700 I have also read 2300, so i guess I am not exactly sure. I also do not have that extra carrier shown in photo 1 toward the bottom. Mine is also in Max 1. I think some guys call it a hybrid gunslinger eberlestock. Hope this helps

I heard it on the news @ 6:00.

I have an Eberlestock tred barta series in Max 1 that I wouldn't mind letting go.

So we would love to think.... Just like he didn't enact healthcare reform without discussion

Dang Jim, I am sure if some of us knew you were going alone, there would have been some volunteers to spend the hunt with you. I know that I for one would have come up, just to learn some of your techniques. Good job on the hunt, and sometimes the ones by yourself are the ones that mean the most.

Real quick question, Do I need to buy 1lb of devcon or will the 2oz kit be enough to bed oen action? One is 40$ the other is 8$

I do not know much about building a long range rifle, but after the last few hunts, I have started to get the bug. I am 95% a bowhunter, but I think the challenge of long range shooting might make me give it a try. I ordered a Bell and Carlson stock for my remington 700 and it comes with an aluminum bedding block. I have read many forums who say that you can bed it or leave it alone. Most people who sound like they know what they are talking about say bed it. Bell and carlson says its a preference. If I do need to bed the action, which bedding mixture has some of you long range guys had good luck with. I have read about acra-glass and even some using JB weld. Please help a rookie in the long range game. Also, I am thinking about getting either a zeiss with a kenton turret or a leupold with a turret. I am wanting to stay in the 4.5-14x50 scope or somewhere close. Anyone have any input on scopes? I would want to stay under a grand for a nice scope. Thanks for your input.
-
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I appreciate all the input. I am going to bed the rifle with devcon.
-
So is Devcon the best stuff for bedding the action. Youtube is awesome and I have watched a few videos on bedding already

I would guess around 180ish if you are talking about the buck in your picture. Post some pics up and lets have a guess the score....
