Shotgun patterning question
cramerhunts replied to slopoke36's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I spent quite a bit of time patterning my 11-87 this year with different turkey loads and chokes. I definitely think it was worth the time and effort as I was able to get a great idea of exactly what worked best and at what ranges I could count on the combination to effectively kill a turkey. I eventually ended up with a combination that had very little holes in it and was good out to 60 yards. If you aren't changing anything (ammo or chokes) you aren't really gaining much on trying to pattern a scatter gun. As far as the OP's question I noticed very little POI change between chokes. -
Gorgeous mount!

Sorry for your guy's losses, I lost a cousin in a quad accident and hear what you are saying loud and clear. I have an aftermarket roll cage and as I stated we are in a side by side with shoulder belts and ROP's not a quad or dirt bike. Another thing to keep in mind is we are not talking about the dunes or tearing across the desert as the OP stated. To each their own and definitely wouldn't knock anyone wanting to wear a helmet.

Congratulations to your daughter on a big Ole tom! Love the big thick beard on that bad boy.

Anyone have a good wild Turkey recipe???
cramerhunts replied to Big Browns's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
My favorite is boned, cut into strips, breaded and fried. My family's favorite is when I put a dry rub on it and throw it on the grill (slow cook) then top with my home made barbecue sauce. -
My side by side is street legal and registered that way along with an OHV sticker, I've been pulled over a couple of times by cops with my kids in it (they had on their seat belts and eye protection) without any mention of a helmet required. I'll be danged if I'm going to make them wear helmets in a vehicle with a roll cage and their back sides seat belted in. When we had quads that was a different story. I've also stopped and talked to a number of game wardens as well as forest service guys while the kids were with me without mention of it either.

Did you have any luck on the San Carlos? How about some pictures of your Gould's?

Fantastic video as always and congratulations on a gorgeous bird! Looking forward to the videos and pics from the rest of your hunts. Great stuff guys! -
Turtle Skin gaiters are the lightest and best fit I've found so far. They are quite pricey but well worth it imo.

I've been boning out the breast and barbecuing it the last few years as my family seems to really like it cooked this way. I did that with half of Jaycie's Gould's last night and it turned out really good......at least it must have as there wasn't any left overs!
