    Opening Day Success!!

Beautiful buck! Let's hear the story.
  3. I have a couple of cameras that I leave up for months at a time and I try and change out the batteries and memory cards every two weeks. These cameras are on established licks that I have had for a few years. The amount of pictures varies depending upon time of year, amount of water, and amount of people moving around the area. I have another camera that I move around every couple of weeks until I get a good amount of movement on it and then I will leave it for around a month until I decide if there is anything there worth spending time on. The amount of pictures definately depend upon the amount of sign in the area more than the set-up and lenght of time. Phil
  4. I went down to check the cameras this last weekend and they have sure seen alot of action just no big ones. I will be going down in a week so hopefully the big ones will show up soon.

Anyone have any stories from this weekend?

Spent the weekend down south looking over some coues country. Saw two different coues bucks but neither was big enough to burn a tag on. Checked the trail cameras of which I will post some pictures of later. Good weekend didn't see another person. Phil

    Southeast units

I'll be down in 30A this weekend so I will keep my eyes open for your rig. I will be driving my white f-250 fourdoor pulling the quads. I've got the sticker on both the truck and the trailer so you won't miss me. Phil
  7. Looks like you guys have a couple of great bucks pinned. Good luck and thanks for posting the pictures. We will be patiently waiting for the story and pictures to follow your hunt.
  8. Wonderful pictures and some great bucks. Thanks for sharing them with us. Good luck on the hunt and I can't wait for the video.

A few pick ups from this weekend

Got out a little bit this last weekend in the SE part of the state and found these little guys and one buck posed just long enough to snap a picture.

New to Area - Unit 30A Tips

I went to school with the Klumps and even dated one of the girls for a while. They are for the most part good people but that doesn't mean that I agree with the way they do things and there are a few of them that are not good people. Like locking the road that goes by the old gas plant on the NE side of the Dos, I mean come on that is a county road. I have personally seen them do more damage to land and property themselves than five years of hunters would do. I used to be one of the "good ole boys" who got the key every year and would drive to the top until I saw some of the things they did to people's vehicles that were parked by the locked gate and I have not been back since. I have to say that they have taken it to the extreme and have locked off alot of land that shouldn't be.

    Coues, and Muleys, Cam

Great Pictures, thanks for sharing them with us. I just noticed in the fourth picture down there is a bat that got caught in the picture along with the doe. I thought that was pretty cool.

    One Little Bull.

Glad to see you are still getting a chance to get on the website Nate. How is the new job going and did you get drawn for anything? Phil

The Swiss Elms are on the west side of the Chiricaua Mountains off of Lesli Canyon Road.
  16. Well I snuck out to 24B about a week ago to look around and the rains sure have done some good. I snapped these pictures while I was out.

    24B Pictures.

The one highlighted in the sun is actually a small two point but those are the only two deer I saw.

What do you use to keep it steady?

I use the stoney point steady stix since I have found them to be really light and quick. If the terrain is to uneven though also use my pack if I have time.

    Stickers!

Yeah that was me, if I would of seen you I would have given you the old honk and wave. I was wondering when we might cross paths since we both live in the same neck of the woods. I have only seen one other sticker and that was on Manny's dodge. Maybe next time. Phil
  20. Sent a PM to you to Doug to enter the contest and also I will be donating some knives, multitools, and water bottels for prizes. Thanks for getting a contest together again and all your hard work. Phil

    30A

For a December tag I would spend some time in the Dos Cabezas. The access is tough but without very many tags for that hunt you could do really good, just try and avoid the Klumps.

    Cabelas

More D, The broadheads aren't bad for the price (19.99 for six) and they shot really close to the same as the thunder heads that I normally shoot. The spin seems to be good but I have a slight problem with them planing or rising on the shorter distances, a few more practice and tuning sessions and I think they will be well worth the money.

    COUES CAM

Great pictures, thanks for sharing them with us. Again what camera are you using?
  24. I have two that a buddy made for me from the pixcontroller kit with the olympus 360's and one with the same kit and camera that I put together myself. They work great and take good pictures as long as you are fairly selective in the set up so you don't end up with a lot of landscape pictures from grass or trees blowing around once the sun has warmed them up. They are pretty easy to set up and get going since they are indeed plug and play cameras. A few solders on the circuit board and a couple of well placed holes in the case and you are up and running. I do suggest going with the pelican 1060 case instead of either of the two cases offered on pixcontroller.com because of space taken up with the camera, board, and battery. You can pick one up on cases4less.com. As for the camera being hard to find you can still get them off of e-bay pretty cheap. Good luck, Phil

    Cabelas

By Sunday I couldn't take it anymore and decided to brave the crowds. I can't wait for them to die down some so I can look around and really see what I am looking at instead of looking to get out of some one's way. I thought the store was awesome and ended up getting a set of the cabelas f3 broadheads to try out. Since I work about 3 minutes from the store I am sure it will be a frequent stop on my way home.
