How far do you live from your spot?
cramerhunts replied to jamaro's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
About 4 1/2 hours to where my cameras are set now, so yeah I have been putting alot of miles on the truck but my parents are only about 1 1/2 hours from them so normally I end up visting them along the way. -
Great job on the story and pictures Ron, thanks for taking us with you.

How long do you leave your cam's
cramerhunts replied to hunt4horns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I have a couple of cameras that I leave up for months at a time and I try and change out the batteries and memory cards every two weeks. These cameras are on established licks that I have had for a few years. The amount of pictures varies depending upon time of year, amount of water, and amount of people moving around the area. I have another camera that I move around every couple of weeks until I get a good amount of movement on it and then I will leave it for around a month until I decide if there is anything there worth spending time on. The amount of pictures definately depend upon the amount of sign in the area more than the set-up and lenght of time. Phil -
I went down to check the cameras this last weekend and they have sure seen alot of action just no big ones. I will be going down in a week so hopefully the big ones will show up soon.

Anyone have any stories from this weekend?
cramerhunts replied to matthewp45's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Spent the weekend down south looking over some coues country. Saw two different coues bucks but neither was big enough to burn a tag on. Checked the trail cameras of which I will post some pictures of later. Good weekend didn't see another person. Phil -
I'll be down in 30A this weekend so I will keep my eyes open for your rig. I will be driving my white f-250 fourdoor pulling the quads. I've got the sticker on both the truck and the trailer so you won't miss me. Phil

Got out a little bit this last weekend in the SE part of the state and found these little guys and one buck posed just long enough to snap a picture.

I went to school with the Klumps and even dated one of the girls for a while. They are for the most part good people but that doesn't mean that I agree with the way they do things and there are a few of them that are not good people. Like locking the road that goes by the old gas plant on the NE side of the Dos, I mean come on that is a county road. I have personally seen them do more damage to land and property themselves than five years of hunters would do. I used to be one of the "good ole boys" who got the key every year and would drive to the top until I saw some of the things they did to people's vehicles that were parked by the locked gate and I have not been back since. I have to say that they have taken it to the extreme and have locked off alot of land that shouldn't be. -

Great Pictures, thanks for sharing them with us. I just noticed in the fourth picture down there is a bat that got caught in the picture along with the doe. I thought that was pretty cool. -

Well I snuck out to 24B about a week ago to look around and the rains sure have done some good. I snapped these pictures while I was out.

The one highlighted in the sun is actually a small two point but those are the only two deer I saw. -
I use the stoney point steady stix since I have found them to be really light and quick. If the terrain is to uneven though also use my pack if I have time.

Yeah that was me, if I would of seen you I would have given you the old honk and wave. I was wondering when we might cross paths since we both live in the same neck of the woods. I have only seen one other sticker and that was on Manny's dodge. Maybe next time. Phil
