While we are on the subject (Mexican Coues)
cramerhunts replied to desertdog's topic in Coues Biology
Unless whitetails were brought to that part of South America...it must be another species. White-tailed deer are in the northern part of South America. I do believe he is talking about Patagonia, Arizona not anywhere in South America. I think some of the information that is getting passed around here is starting to get a little muddied up. Phil -

Why do we hunt Coues?
cramerhunts replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I would have to say the challenge first, the beauty of the coues second, the country they live in third, and then finally the taste. I still hunt mulies with my bow if the opportunity arises and also when my wife draws a tag. I got bit by the coues bug when I was in highschool and I have never been able to get rid of it, it consumes my thoughts year round unlike other critters that I hunt. There is just something special about the "grey ghost". Phil -
I wish you a very happy birthday Trampus! I am sure that all of your birthday wishes will be fullfilled in God's own way someday. Brian I am also sure that Trampus has been right there looking down on you on all of your hunts since. My prayers go out to you and yours. Phil

While we are on the subject (Mexican Coues)
cramerhunts replied to desertdog's topic in Coues Biology
I couldn't tell you if this is a fantail or just a small coues but a friend of mine took this buck about fifteen years ago down by Douglas. I can cover each beam with my hands and totally hide the horns. He calls it his "fantail" and says it was the smallest bodied deer that he has ever seen let alone taken. Phil -
Happy birthday Brian, I hope you have a great one! Phil
