Congratulations on a great buck! Sweet looking rifle as well, it sounds like it should be a beautiful mount.

Well the second trip, even though it was a quick one, came and went and we had another great time. We still are not seeing any rut activity to speak of yet and are expecting it to hit sometime mid to late January. The number of deer spotted was a little less then expected but still not to bad with 15 to 30 per day. On the second morning I had an opportunity at a very good buck but wasn't able to make it happen either because of hitting an ocotillo in the bullet's path or simply missing cleanly, of the two I am still not sure which. I have been asked by everyone what I thought the buck would score and all I keep telling them is I couldn't honestly tell you. It all happened very fast as I walked up on the buck and his smaller buddy while I was side hilling around a little butte that I wanted to glass from. The buck was big and didn't need to have a score added up for me to know that he was a shooter. I tried to sneak a bullet through some really thick brush and wasn't able to do it so off the buck went......all I can say is that he will haunt my dreams for quite a while. I spent the next two days camped out looking for this buck but to no avail. Even with the missed shot Tim, Jim, and I all had a great time. Tim and I both passed on some nice bucks hoping that the rut will bring out some monsters or maybe give us a chance to relocate the buck that I missed. Great country, great company, and great food! What more could you ask for. I am hoping that my work schedule will allow me to head back down with Tim and Josh in a couple of weeks to try again. I am sorry to hear the part of the story that caused the "hard way", but what an example of perseverance and determination. Congrats on a great buck and awesome ending to a heck of a story.

I'm still not expecting the rut to be in full swing but last year it seemed that I was there before and after without hitting the rut at all......not going to let that happen this year! Jim or I will give you a shout when we get back.

Great pictures Josh and congrats again to Gail on a great buck! I am happy that it worked out so that you guys were able to make use of the prowler, I know that it can come in handy. Also happy that Gail and Mike were able to tag out on nice bucks considering the limited amount of time they had. Tim, Jim, and I are headed back the day after Christmas so we'll see what happens but maybe we'll have a trip in January that will overlap, that would be a hoot! Ernesto, Josh didn't find one big enough yet and since he left a bunch of his stuff down there he can't make any excuses not to go back!

Congrats to her on a very nice buck! I have been in that situation a few times before and sometimes its hard to remember that its their tag and they get to choose what buck they want. It looks like it paid off well!

Wow! What an awesome shed! All of the other antlers are quite impressive as well. Looks like it should be a heck of a season for your hunters Jim and I can't wait to see some of those pictures. Hopefully you'll nail that buck with your first hunter so he won't be haunting you the rest of the season.

Well I made it back from the first actual hunting trip down to the ranch on Friday night. My hunting partner Jim (RUT) and other buddy Mike spent seven gorgeous days looking for big bucks. We had wonderful weather with cold nights and mornings with warm days. We averaged 20 to 30 deer per day with 5 to 7 being bucks. I couldn't have asked for a better first trip with maybe the exception of a big buck hitting the dirt. We didn't see any rutting activity but I don't think it's too far off as some of the bucks were beating up trees and hanging around some of the does. Tall Buck with Does I didn't find anything that I wanted to end my hunt on yet but with Mike not being able to go back down he took a real nice 3x3 on the next to the last day. Josh, Tim, Gail, and Mike all got down on Thursday and boy was it hard to watch them load up to hunt on Friday morning but I'll be heading back the day after Christmas to give it another go. I hope that they have a good as trip as I did but come home with some big bucks! I can't wait to hear from them as soon as they cross the border! On a side note we had no trouble getting our guns across the border both ways just like always.

I'll try Doug, still trying to get caught up after the first trip. I'm still holding out and can't wait to get back down but one of my friends killed a nice buck on the next to the last day of his hunt since he can't go back. I'll post some pictures and videos just as soon as I can.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said, but I'll say it again....congratulations on a trophy of a lifetime and an awesome story to go along with it. Grong had told me about the buck when he got down to Mexico but seeing the pictures and reading your write up really brought it into another light. Awesome job you guys did on getting the buck and getting everyone out!

Amanda that was a nice pick up but it was off of another ranch that Steven has for mule deer. Tim I'm all loaded and ready to go, I'll see you down there buddy! I talked to Manuel today and it looks like we'll have some prerut activity going on so my hopes are high!
