Awesome stuff right here! Congratulations! -
Congratulations to her on another fine bird!

Great story. Hard work and determination always seem to pay off.
-
Sounds like you have a good game plan. The birds should still be talking. Good luck!
-
Great pictures and gobblers buddy! Congratulations again on a couple fine Toms. You'll get that dang black feathered Eastern eventually.
-
Nice looking camp! I got schooled on my San Carlos hunt, worked a lot of birds but something always happened to the turkey's advantage, oh well. I'm getting ready to head to Missouri on my fourth hunt this spring. Time for the daughter to complete her Royal (I hope). Gotta love this time of year!!

It just gets better, Phil. At the banquet that Friday night, the guy who paid for our flights and hotel room (he does it every year for the JAKES essay winner), bought a quail print that was donated by the landowner where Syd hunted. Syd asked me to bid on the print, but when it started at $300, I knew I was out. This guy paid $1300 for the print, donated it back, and then bought it again (missed that price). After the banquet he asked for our address because he wanted to send it to Sydney as a gift for her grades (I was sworn to secrecy)! He emphasized that it was because of her grades (straight As) with all she has going on. Last night, as we were wrapping up her 14th birthday celebration, I happened to notice a huge box on our front porch. I'd forgotten about everything, until I saw the return address of KS and it being addressed to Syd. She opened it up, saw the print and a note that said "...the gift was in appreciation of her grades because her grades are the foundation for all of her future successes. He anticipates and expects big things from her in the future and signed it "Your friend..." I told Syd she had to go on my Goulds hunt to call for me! And she's already decided that she's using her current 7-08 for her bull hunt, but definitely wants the new one set up for any deer hunt! Need to go water the money tree so I can get a scope on that thing! Very, very cool. I love this entire story on so many levels but it is so good and refreshing to see that there still are good people out there that value good honest work and emphasize the things that are important in life. She is something to be proud of and I know she will do great things in the future.

Fantastic stuff right there! Big congratulations to him on a mighty fine bird.

Sorry to hear of this Doug. Great memorial to her. My condolences.

Remington youth 870 20 gauge with Hevi-shot extended choke. Currently shooting Hevi-shot mag blends with really good results. My daughter is shooting similar except a Primos Jelly head choke.
-
After years of lugging around a long barreled heavy 12 gauge I made the switch several years ago to a light short 20 and haven't looked back. I actually built one for my daughter and had so much fun shooting it I built one for myself. We've had great luck with the mag blends as well as the Hevi-7's. I will be testing the longbeard 5 and 6's this weekend.

Congratulations on a fine bird! Good luck on the rest.

Man oh man I loved every part of this journey, from the essay to the flight home. Thank you so much for sharing all of it. Definitely an experience of a lifetime that was well deserved. A huge congratulations all the way around. Supper happy that Syd was able to fill her tags and a double bearded Tom for her first.......spectacular! Again a huge congratulations!

OK hoghntr, just got back from San Carlos tonight, story pending. I will say the bear claw striker called in a nice Tom opening morning, then my friend Terry shot him. I knew that was going to happen! ☺ looking forward to your story and pics. For sure looking forward to hearing the story and seeing the pics! Been not so patiently waiting

Very cool sister you have there, awesome video.

I'm super excited for you both. Travel safe, enjoy every minute, and Syd shoot straight. Opportunity and experience of a lifetime right here. Go get em you guys. Praying for good weather.

First off I do believe Jay would call it like he saw it regardless of his name in the industry. Second I've looked through them on a 65 briefly and I can say I was very, very impressed.

Fantastic ram, big congratulations to the hunter and guide! Thanks for sharing.
