    Draw length help

Between those two bows Elites are usually a little long and Hoyts are right on BUT... shoot one because you might be trying to save money by picking one up online but you might spend more money get the correct cams...

    Draw length help

Scott.. Yes DL vary from manufacture to manufacture... That wingspan measurement is a ok guide but you should really get measured... and even shoot a similar bow if you are going to get one online. There are a ton of tricks to tweak the DL of a bow but they all vary from manufacture to manufacture...

Call Jared from High Desert Angler in Santa Fe... He will set you straight.. J
  14. I fought my butt off for 196 and I wanted more for NR and no Guide Subsidies.. LO are next on the hit list... J
  15. This could be huge.... It is counting the beans on the LO tags... http://thenewmexicosportsman.com/?p=636 This might be setting up the framework for the anti-donation clause....
  16. Hmmm.. I agree.. We should switch to something like AZ... I have to buy a license $151 and I earn a point but for elk it might take 15 years to draw and for antelope it might take 20 years to draw... In NM you can draw the FIRST YEAR... IN AZ.. Not possible... be careful what you ask for... Hmm, I guess you don't HAVE to apply!? Amen J Lets see the tags that were available for me to draw just went down 40% as a non-guided hunter, sure there will be a snowball's chance in heck that a person can draw a tag the first year, the second year or the third year. Year after year the odds are no better and a person could apply forever and NOT be drawn. Yeah AZ's system does cost more for NR, but one knows a BULL elk tag after about 12 years of applying will be drawn.....a COW tag is much easier.... can I even draw a cow tag as a NR in NM? Its only a matter of time before a point system come to NM.... Great response fatfootdoc....thanks for pointing that out....very intelligent I never thought of that. Redman Nope you can't draw a cow tag... NR still get 16% that is much higher than in AZ... If you had issues with what was going on you should have mobilized your NR DIY hunters and fought for NO OUTFITTER SUBSIDIES. Complain after the fact isn't going to do any good. I think it is crap that outfitters get this government paycheck... but they lobbied.. We had a point system... There were issues, right now it is in NM benefit for us to not have a point system... Because people will put in every year because they have a chance.. UNLIKE AZ...

    Still Carrying in NM

Dang... They are still pack in Silver...
  20. Because the tags that go to landowners are a public resource that is given away for private gain. I have no problem with private landowner rights and I don't mind paying a tresspass fee but don't privatize the animal itself. How is land owner tags "privatizing" game. All residents and non-residents have the opportunity to hunt all species of game in New Mexico if I understand correctly. Unless there is a species of animal that a hunter can only hunt by obtaining a land owner tag, the general public still has access to the animals (through the draw, over the counter tags etc.). So how are they privatized? Am I missing somthing here? The key is that they are LO tags... Nobody has access to those tags unless the LO gives or sales the tag... Therefore it privatizes the animal... It takes the tag out of the general pool..

    Possible new BILL!!!

Hey guys... Just so you know 196 was passed and it looks pretty good. I have been involved in alot of the back channel discussions on alot of this... Most groups other than SFW wanted a equal split between guided and DIY hunters... It was the outfitters that pushed for the inequities. NOT NMWF or UNMB... It is pretty messed up but these outfitter subsidies are doing to continue for awhile... But for residents this is a good thing... Believe me I would love to have what AZ has but it isn't going to happen for a few years...
