The story - I've been watching him since November of 2006. He usually only comes in late evening and early am like between 1 and 3 am. There was only a few times when he came in between 6am and 10am. He was only coming in once a week. I climbed up to my stand at 5am opening morning fully expecting to sit all day for at least a week. A Doe came in at 5:30am, good sign, she left, three different Does came in at 6:15am and they left around 6:30am. Another Doe came in at 7:50am and was hanging out when I saw a rack to my right coming through the trees. I though it was one of the smaller two points that where coming in so I said I'll take him and drew back. I almost dropped my bow when I saw who it was!! He stopped at the water tub and just as I was about to release he turned! But he turned towards me and headed towards the Doe. He stopped in front of her totally broadside which gave me a 15 yard shot!! I released, heard a smack, waited till 9am to start tracking him. He ran approx. 250 yards. A friend helped me track him and carry him out. While carrying him out I lost my brand new Rino 530CHx gps that I just bought couldn't believe it. Funny thing, my buddy DJ sat my stand Saturday morning and while sitting up there he heard some voices, it was the weather alert on my Rino which was about 150 yards from my stand. If I hadn't turned the weather alert on DJ said it would still be lost! Heck of an opening weekend!!!
