Congrats Tommy, That is an awesome trophy for sure!

I will be in 36c for the October hunt but will not be camping, it only takes me 45 minutes from home to where I hunt. I would be more than happy to stop in at your camp if I am out and about during the day and check on your stuff or swing by in the evening and shoot the breeze. I will be taking my 24 year old step son on his first deer hunt this year and I think that I am more excited about taking him then he is going Let me know where you will be and perhaps we can meet up and I will show you the monster Coues he shoots, I got a real nice crab clawed, real close to 100 incher tied up back in the hills that I want to introduce to my son. Good luck to everyone on there hunts this year and be carefull.

I will be there this morning as well, I will be the big redneck looking guy with a Bowtech hat on

Congratulations Rich, that is a fine bull.

I've shot hundreds of carp with a 30-30 while standing on the road, actually a bridge. Even got confronted by a warden once, all he did was laugh and tell me not to shoot across the road.................but that was the real carp (fish) not mule deer.

You have any elk pictures for us Mike? -
I've seen that "peak" a couple of times but there aren't too many deer in that area

Carrying a handgun while archery hunting?
azpackhorse replied to Whitehntr's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I asked AZGF that very question when I had an archery spring bear tag and a spring turkey tag. I asked if I could legally carry a shotgun and archery equiptment and the answer was no, you have to choose which one you wanted to do, not both. I personally carry a handgun when I am archery hunting in the southern units, I keep it concealed which is legal since I carry a CCW but not neccesarily legal to carry when I am archery hunting but I will deal with that problem if it ever arises. -
I am shooting a Bowtech Allegiance 70# 30" draw carbon weave 300's 100 grain Montec Tekans total arrow weight is 383 grains Trophy Ridge drop zone Chrono'd at 308 fps I finally got it tweeked and ended up backing the let off down to 70% so I will chrono it again, should gain a little speed. So far this bow is all I hoped it would be, quiet, smooth, and easy to shoot, now just got to get blood on it.

10% cap coming back to AZ tags
azpackhorse replied to wklman's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
It would be interesting to see exactly how many tags from the nonrestricted hunts actually go to nonresidents, if I am not mistaken I believe that the percentage of most of them is already below 10%. And for javelina I really don't think that a 10% cap will make any difference in residents drawing a tag or not. I support the 10% cap for all draws, it will more than likely be needed in the future so might as well get folks used to it now. I put in for nonresident hunts in other states and realize that the residents of those states will have first shot and am fine with that. After all it is their state and they are the ones that take care of it and put all the work into the natural resources just as we do here in Arizona. -
Myself and two friends hunted 16b in 2001 and took 3 decent bulls out of the area about 10 miles east of snow lake. Get a hold of this young man and he will hook you up! Tommy gilawildernesshunting.com

anyone gonna be carying new gear this year?
azpackhorse replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I don't have a backpack tent but I do have a warm bag I love, I take her with me on some hunts but mostly she stays home and feeds the dogs while I go hunt'n. -
Ya, I really screwed that one up. Dyson will choke but the little guy will stick that toad
-
I'll be gunn'n for one of those 16 rifle deer tags now that my buddies found some deer for me in there this weekend
-
I went out there last night to do some scouting and saw a few deer before we got hit with a big storm, I also saw one illegal standing in the middle of the road waiting for a ride.....he pert near got tire tracks on him! The trash is as bad as ever and the grass is tall and green, should be one helluva season this year. I'll be back down there this weekend with my video camera,leicas,.45 Sig, and AR15........looking for bucks. Don't let anyone fool you, the threat from drug runners and smugglers is real and should not be taken lightly.

Even though some of CHD's personal attacks are BS I kinda enjoy some of his posts, after all in all fairness he has taken some pretty serious blasts from some of the other members of CWT....one of them being me. Not to say that he has not deserved some of them. You have to admit that he can be pretty darn entertaining some times. I know I will take some heat on this one, but if you don't want to see CHD's posts just block him out like AZ4life said.............................bracing myself.....................................ok, fire away!

Illegal traffic is very much a problem in 36c, I would not advise camping alone down there. As far as deer goes, just get close to the hills and you will see deer. My buddy drew the same December tag and I will be in there in October with my son trying to get him his first Coues buck. Good luck on your hunt.

Got the Allegiance set up with a Trophy Ridge drop zone and Trophy Ridge Matrix sight, I went with Carbon Weave 300 arrows and was able to drop down to 28" and 8.6gpi. Now my arrow weight is 383gr, it chrono'd at 308fps and extremely quiet. Draw weight is 72lbs, almost makes me want to leave that Oct. rifle tag in the safe! Hopefully I can stick a turkey next month with it. How did yours turn out 6.5? http://www.goldtip.com/calculators/kinetic.asp This link will give you your kinetic energy, type in arrow weight and fps and hit calculate. My k.e. is 80.7.

I am in the market for a new bow, I am looking at the Bow-Tech Allegiance. Does anyone own one? How do you like it? I am going to go shoot one next week but would appreciate any feedback on this bow. I've narrowed it down to two bows, Switchback and Allegiance. I went to shoot a Browning Illusion last night but they didn't have any.........this is where they build the things! You would think that they would keep at least one around for people to look at.

mega, Is that an archery antelope 3b tag you drew? If so it was supposed to be issued to me.........can I have it back now? Good luck on your hunts, you have drawn some exceptional tags.
