It absolutely amazes me how many people really don't have a clue as to what is really going on down there. Fight fire with FIRE boys!

Eric, Congratulations on taking a true desert monarch!

Adam, I don't know what area you are hunting but if it's down South or kinda close to Tucson I would be more than happy to help you look for your deer. I have lost animals before while archery hunting, it is a sickening feeling I know. If you archery hunt big game long enough you WILL lose animals. I refuse to comment on ethics, the main focus should be on this animal. Good luck young man.

The new year started off like usual for me. I had a archery Javelina tag and a archery deer tag in my pocket so a couple of buddies and I headed down South to camp out and hunt. Thursday was slow, it was a little warm and not much moving where we were. We decided to try a different area the next day. Right off the bat in the morning we glassed two Mule deer bucks and a gob of does, the bucks were rutting hard and we even watched a smaller buck and a 170ish 4x4 square off. We made our plans and away we went to try and stalk in on these bucks. I went down low through a wash while my buddies took different routes. As I got close to where I thought the bucks would be the wind changed. I decided to back out not wanting to possibly ruin one of my buddies stalks with my wind blowing in the direction of the bucks. On my way back to the truck I glanced up and noticed some movement about 150 yards away, it was the bucks! They had moved down the hill towards me, I snuck in as far as I felt comfortable with and waited. The big 4x4 took his does and moved North of me I then caught some more movement and here comes 3 does with the smaller buck, oh my gosh they were heading right for me! Holy crap! My heart is now pounding so hard it is difficult to hear anything, I settle down a little, ranged the spot I thought they would cross......33 yards! The deer obviously read my script because they were on a string to my "spot" A doe crosses and stops, she glares right at me and I thought for sure it was over. I stood motionless while my insides were coming unglued! She decided that I was nothing! You got to be kidding me! No way! Two more does pass through my spot........then i see antlers coming.....my knees are on the verge of giving out by now. I try my best to gather myself, I know it's gonna be do or die in a couple of seconds. He walks into the "spot" I find my pin..........pick the spot...........squeeeeeze the release and the arrow blasts off like a rocket! It is now slow motion! I see my Lumeknock dissappear into the bucks ribs! That's it! my legs could take no more! they turn to jello and I sit down! I waited for my buddy to show up and we track the buck, he went around 200 yards and piled! No Coues for me in 2009 The next day I whacked a big boar Javelina! Head on while he was running uphill towards me! My buddy Scott and I took both our boars within a couple of minutes of each other. It was cool to watch him shoot his then he watched me shoot mine! It was a good weekend!!

Congrats on a couple of great looking Javies! and to share your hunt with your father is even better! I make my entire Javelina into sausage, hot Italian and hot breakfast. The "hot" helps with the taste.

I seen this buck on another site so I won't guess but what an awesome buck! Nice job guys and congrats to Erin! -
I finally whacked a Coyote with my AR with the help of my buddy and his son. We called 3 yotes in for young Mathew but he didn't connect this time. Next time buddy. My buddy called this yote in, shot him at around 100 yards with the AR-15. 45 grain hollow point. Found a handy spot to keep my coaxer in the flashlight mount.

Awesome! Man, I really need to do that someday.

Great Scoutguard Trail Camera Deal
azpackhorse replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
You are very welcome Ilene, I hope you enjoy it! -
Denny, if you have access through private land on the northwest side it makes it a heck of a lot easier to get to public land on the west side. Parsons still got a place back there? You hunting by yourself?

I got one of the ScoutGuard cameras from Amanda a few weeks ago and got it set last week, I am extremely happy with it thus far. The photos are very clear and it doesn't take a gob of photos of nothing like my cheapy Moultries do. I will be buying another soon! Here are a couple of photos, day and night shots. If anyone is thinking of buying a trail cam look at buying one of these from Amanda!

Extended Periods of Glassing
azpackhorse replied to WFGinNM's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
If the rocks are talking back, you may have a little problem Glassing for Coues is my favorite part of hunting these deer. It can be quite the mind game though, I have to "believe" there is a deer behind every bush. I had a great glassing year so far, found several bedded bucks and a couple were 1/2 mile or more. That to me is just as rewarding as shooting a booner. We are here for you brother!
